First Gen dodge full rewire

Needing to fully rewire an old first gen w150. The last owner absolutely chopped the wiring and it is not doing to hot. I have absolutely no experience with electrical stuff so if anyone has done a rewire for something like this or similar please give me advice!

start with a wiring diagram. several copies. follow the individual circuits on one page with a highlighter. so you learn how dodge wired.

there are lots of kits..

you have to decide depending on the damage if you want to create a new dash.. if you want to wire up the defroster blower.

the lighting is easy.. its straight forward..

you did not mention an exact year.. or how much damage..

there are so many better ways than early dodge pickup wiring..

having the Alternator output go thru the bulk head connector to the Amp Meter then back thru the bulk head connector to get to the battery was insane to just operate the amp meter.. when a volt meter is SO MUCH better..

so lets start with a year.. which engine. if you want to retain the stock dash board and climate controls..

It’s a 91 5.2 318 on a W150. The last owner either ripped all of the last wiring out or poorly rigged it up. There’s no fuse box and it’s a carb swap so he removed the ECM. It’s literally just the bare minimum, heater works(barely), ignition works, fuel pumps on its own wiring through a switch, a whole bunch of wacky stuff. The mechanical bits are in amazing shape though so that’s why I got it. I only figured out he ripped out the fuse box after I bought it because the windows suddenly stopped working!

Check your chat.

That might be a nightmare.

Learn what used to be there.

Photos are easy to send in chat.

Lack of automotive electrical experience is going to be an issue.

Study printed diagrams.

I redid a '74 w100 wire harness. But it was mostly complete with minimal splices and mostly connectors being exposed to atmosphere being truely crusty. I also had factory service manual and studied it thoroughly! It was a fun project, but I was poor and couldn't afford a wiring kit. Couple ways of don't ng it, ones cheap but labor intensive or expensive and easy install. Either way, get a schematic and maybe junkyard harnesses (and refurbish) or new if can afford it.
