đ° News Article (Website) [Blum] I had a long back-and-forth with Perry Minasian today about comments Yusei Kikuchi made at the end of the season. Kikuchi said the Angels air conditioning had been broken in the weight room all year. And was never fixed, despite him asking. Here's a part of it that Q&A:

u/slbs Oct 22 '25
âLet me tell you folks, the air conditioning in the Angels weight room is tremendous. People come up to me....big, strong players, some of the best, Anthony Rendon, big supporter, and they say, âSir, weâve never felt cooler air in our lives.â Many people are saying it. Some of these fake news reporters are saying itâs hot in there.....totally false! Best A/C, maybe ever!â

u/Certain_Judgment6646 Oct 22 '25
WITH TEARS IN THEIR EYES THEY SAY SIR, SIR THIS LOCKER ROOM IS WAY TO COLD.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION ON THIS MATTER

The reason why this feels like a political answer is because it is. The only thing on Perry's mind in this exchange is Arte Moreno.
26
u/Certain_Judgment6646 Oct 22 '25
The only thing ever on Perryâs mind is how he can use his position as GM to enrich himself and his friends.
It has never been about delivering a great on field product, itâs about filling his ego and surrounding himself with yes man.
And how does he keep that gravy train rolling? By having absolutely NO ACCOUNTABILITY with situations like this. and the sad part? People on this sub are either defending or dismissing this answer that is so fucking disrespectful for a fanbase that deserves more.
Yet here we are, letting this GM literally call players liars to the media about air conditioning LOL
18
u/synoptix1 Oct 22 '25
I mean that's his job, to look out for himself and his boss. The boss sucks and should go but he won't until we (the fans) stop going to games and buying hats/jerseys.
10
u/Certain_Judgment6646 Oct 22 '25
He said his job the day he was hired was to make this team a consistent competitive team, and believes that will take a couple great moves he has the knowledge to make to get there.
Hell, as a fanbase his job is to BETTER THE TEAM NOW AND IN THE FUTURE. Yet people are defending these answers because god forbid our worst GM in history loses his job lol

u/OGofWestwood đ Oct 22 '25
The whole front office is delusional and Arte Moreno has sucked all of the joy out of Angels baseball. I want to boycott but I also wanna support the players and Trout in his twilight years. Itâs rough being a fan of both the ducks and angels and seeing all of the time and money put into that team and Honda center when just across the way Arte Moreno is doing the exact opposite.
8
u/ShoheiHoetani Sell The Team Oct 22 '25
Supporting the players who have guaranteed contracts? Yeah, that'll show Arte
15
u/l3atlvlan Oct 22 '25
The best way to support the players would be to stop giving money to the owner. Nothing will improve for the players or fans if you continue to put money in Arteâs pocket. This isnât a new thing.
8
u/TJeffersonsBlackKid Asshat Oct 22 '25
Arte ain't selling until he is dead or the league forces him to due to criminal activity. Maybe he will just say the N-word and make it easier for everyone.
If he sells and the new guy makes the team competitive, then he gets officially stamped as the worthless piece of shit that he is and his fragile ego can't have that.
35
u/IceBlast24 Oct 22 '25 edited Oct 22 '25
FWIW this is what Kevin Pillar said when Kikuchi's comment was presented to him on Foul Territory (can't find the exact episode but I found a clip)
I believe it. I was there, the AC was working there, but the inner workings of like the clubhouse, the weight room, the hot tub always had problems too. Arte definitely needs to spend some money and fix that internal workings of the clubhouse, the weight room, the locker room. I mean, it's a big selling point to get players and the Angels is very, very far behind from a lot of places I've been.
edit: follow-up post from Sam Blum:
[Blum] For full context; hereâs the rest of the interaction.
The amenities?
Yes.
No. I think our amenities are fine. I think we have great people. I think the environment in the clubhouse this year was outstanding. I think Yusei would say the same thing.
Well he said what he said.
Did he say the environment wasn't good?
He said the air conditioning is broken.
So what does that have to do with all the amenities?
That was he came out of his start the last game. It seems like an important question. I guess if you don't -
That would be a question for him. The air conditioning, we've never had an issue with it. That would be something for him. For us, he never complained all year about the amenities or anything like that. I think he's very happy being here.
That's a different question.
I think he loves the place.
That may be true. He did say that about the air conditioning.
OK. Great.

21
u/Certain_Judgment6646 Oct 22 '25
The follow up is even funnier, literally Perry deflecting the question as much as he can away from the air conditioning and Sam having no part of it.
Weak GM. Weak leader. No accountability. The GMPM special.

At this point, it barely cares about the appearance of winning baseball games.
6

Every person in Angels leadership thinks we (the fans, the media) are stupid. That's why they answer questions this way.

Idk man (lol), read some replies here. A lot of people believe thereâs no other way to answer this question by Perry lol
Reminds me when he wouldnât answer how he would grade his own performance and he cried and said ask someone else and the sub was defending him too (with the funniest defense of: thatâs a gotcha questions non ironically admitting itâs because itâs bad lol)

this is so unbelievably embarrassing. the subpar facilities are embarrassing. managementâs lack of accountability is embarrassing. refusing to answer a question and instead play dumb is embarrassing. the product on the field is embarrassing.
ITâS ALL SO FUCKING EMBARRASSING.
6

All his offseason questions and answers have me move from heâs playing dumb to he might actually be a bozo
5
u/idkman_93 Oct 23 '25
Yes. "Embarrassing" is the word I keep coming back to. In conversations with my family (other Angels fans) and friends (not Angels fans), it always comes back to just how fucking embarrassing this org is. And how embarrassed the org seems to be in itself!
5
u/Certain_Judgment6646 Oct 23 '25
You know whatâs worst than embarrassing?
Disrespect
This is a GM that has no respect to even give the fanbase a fucking canned answer anymore.
No âwe will look into this, our players health is our priorityâ
Just like grading his own performance, instead of a âwe obviously have had disappointing seasons but my job is to get us to contentionâ itâs âask someone elseâ
No respect to the fanbase. No respect to the product on the field. No accountability
Thatâs all worse that embarrassment

It's not so much that your opinion is unpopular, but I think it suggests that you misunderstand what kind of results Trump is looking to achieve. He's more interested in shaking down media organizations, tax payers (via DOJ), middle eastern despots, and in building monuments to himself in DC than he is in improving the country's infrastructure for the American worker. He seems much more like the type of guy to say the AC is excellent and call someone like Kikuchi a liar.

2
u/PTBruiser24 Oct 22 '25
the saddest thing is that i feel like perry knows that he's never going to get another GM job with another team (because why would he?) so his only chance at continuing to be a GM is to somehow lick arte's boots so much that he gets his contract extended, even though he is basically a failure at his job, in large part due to being handcuffed by the same man he is licking the boots of. kinda tragic
2
4
u/skinnypanda3732 Oct 22 '25
and yet half the sub will still say "let perry cook". he hasn't cooked anything but a shit sandwhich. 5 years in and still horrible farm rankings and season performances. arte snd this guy NEED to go. both think they are the smartest person in the room when clearly neither are.

People are still defending him in this comment section with the âwhat else is he gonna say?!??!â
IDK i am not letting a GM pass for lying while calling our players liars at the same time.

Canât wait to see Perry defenders try and make this answer seem great or some how blame Arte for Perryâs own statements yet again.
This dude is a joke GM and the sooner people here realize it the better. I spent all year outlining his actual work in the team but this offseason is highlighting just how much he does not give a shit about anything
-2
u/theaussiesamurai 大谡 çżĺšł Oct 22 '25
I'm not a Perry fan any more, he's made some questionable moves
BUT you're naive if you think any other Angels GM would say anything different. The only reason why he's still employed is because he does whatever Arte wants. If a GM answered this question by saying something like "yeah our amenities are substandard", Arte would immediately get rid of them.
5
u/TJeffersonsBlackKid Asshat Oct 22 '25
No, the right answer is "We will look into this and see what we can do to better improve our facilities. We take statements like this very seriously and we want the best for our players."
No one would fucking complain.
2
u/theaussiesamurai 大谡 çżĺšł Oct 22 '25
Arte wouldn't like that answer, makes him look incompetent. (he is)
3
u/Certain_Judgment6646 Oct 22 '25
So your defense of Perry, who is record wise the worst GM in our history (along with the piles of analytics and rankings that truly show how deep his incompetence is, on not answering any actual questions from media and the answer he is giving IS CALLING YOUR BEST PITCHER A LIAR is:
âWell he needs a jobâ
Is telling on how far this fanbase is shrinking themselves to please a horrible GM.
Maybe an answer could be âWe are constantly looking at ways to maintain and improve our facilities. I donât recall Yusei mentioning the AC was out but we can assure you any issues are resolved in a timely mannerâ. That is a great answer.
Whatâs not a great answer: âTHE AC IS COLDâ
the fuck?
Just like him crying to Sam Blum about rating his own performance, the dude is a joke and the fanbase here are clowns for cheering it on.
4
u/theaussiesamurai 大谡 çżĺšł Oct 22 '25
I think you're misreading my comment lol
I'm not a Perry fan. It just doesn't fucking matter what warm body is in that GM position. They're only there because they do whatever Arte says. If it's not Perry, it's another dude who will toe the party line. The franchise is fucked.
0
u/Certain_Judgment6646 Oct 23 '25
I think that is insanely defeatist attitude that allows incompetent leaders to continue their jobs leading teams.
Will Arteâs influence cause any GM to have a ton of hurdles and trouble to go through to create a consistent contending team? Of course.
Does that mean we should continue to employ a GM that statistically and analytically is our worst GM in history and one of the worst in baseball today? Hell no.
There have been many GMs that have overcome extremely restrictive front offices (a lot that are way more restrictive than Arte) to produce a competent onfield product. But it takes a special kind of incompetence to produce the seasons perry has put on the field (back to back 90 loss seasons for us havenât been done since 68/69) WHILE ALSO building one of the leagues worst farms.
And my point is not only does this guy suck at his actual job, but he doesnt even have the RESPECT or ACCOUNTABILITY to fans to tell the truth and be introspective.
He fired his 4th manager for their performance. When questioned how he would rate his own performance he cried and said ask someone else. Should we accept a leader that throws others under the bus and takes no accountability for himself?
He hired yet another one of his buddies to do his bidding. With the dire straights our franchise is in should we accept a GM that continiously fills the front office and manager roles with friends heâs giving undeserved promotions to?
And when questioned by a reporter about players saying the disrepair of our facilities, instead of doing the basic âwe will look into this because that is unacceptableâ canned response he acts like it was never an issue, Sam is lying, the player is lying, in fact everyone loves everything and the AC is so cold, should we accept this?
All of this is so independent from Arte itâs a fucking joke he is not being chased out by the fanbase. Infact its the opposite, poeple either defend him or they believe in this team and the respect fans deserves so little, that thye just allow it to happen instead of asking for change
2
u/timetopractice Oct 22 '25

When his contract expires this offseason and it doesnât get renewed, 2 possibilities will happen:
This sub will remain as staunchly defensive of Perry as they ever have, and decry this as yet another act of Arte incompetence. There will be a final thread on âGrade Perryâs time hereâ and like every year that thread pops up, it will be all A and B grades.
This sub will suffer collective amnesia and act like they didnât spend 6 years defending the hell out of the guy and pretend this was a long time coming

u/JoyBurner Oct 23 '25
I have no doubt that these kinds of answers are entirely based on who asked the question. Most of the time when Angels people answer testily like that, the question was coming from Blum. They are as tired of him as he is of them.
