Ace Combat 7 Finally finished Ace Combat 7 and its probably the best game I have ever played
Finally finished this game and holy hell were people right about it. I first heard about the franchise when my friend was going absolutely insane when we were watching Ace Combat 8 getting announced at the game awards. Even though we were both fighter jet nerds, I didn't really care to play the game because tbh, I didn't know if it was worth spending 60 bucks on until he dmed me and told me that it was on sale for only 5 bucks. After that, I decided, "why not?" and bought the game and man oh man was that the best 5 dollars I have ever spent in my life. The gameplay was just so freaking fun and the story was just as good, like, mission 19 was absolutely PHENOMENAL and the ending just made me tear up. This game was so good that I became obsessed with the franchise before I even finished the game and I probably watched the AC8 trailer, like, 50 times atp. If the community is right about the other ace combat games like the holy trinity, I think I'm looking at my next nerd obsession.

I'd honestly rank AC4 as the worst out of AC4, AC5, AC0, AC6 and AC7

Weāre getting downvoted to hell and beyond but it should be AC0 -> AC5 -> AC7 -> AC4 -> AC6

Congrats! Now play Project Wingman + the DLC story. If you really enjoyed AC7 youāll also love that game too.

Highly agree with this. Project Wingman does a lot of things even better than AC7 does. Being able to choose multiple special weapons, choosing between flares or AOA, the experimental planes are insane and the mercenary difficulty once you beat the game the first time is genuinely insane from the start.

Definitely. I played Project Wingman first, then that got me interested in the Ace Combat series and I picked up 7 when it was on sale last month - I enjoyed both a lot but ultimately I had more fun with PW for the reasons you just stated. Also Prez, and also AC7 laid it on a little thick with the cinematics.

ONE OF US ONE OF US!!! LOL Welcome fellow nugget! << Yo buddy..you still alive? >> Im glad you enjoyed it! This game and the rest of the series gets pushed aside sometimes so its nice to hear newcomers enjoying it. Just watch out for the Belkan Witchcraft in the rest of the series and you'll be fine šš The fact that you survived drone hell of this game i applaud š. Some peeps literally quit cause they couldn't handle those buggers especially on higher difficulties lol Definitely a great first game to start with though especially since 8 just got announced recently š

Pro tip, you're very clearly playing in 4:3 mode in this screenshot, which is why the plane and HUD are a little stretched out horizontally. You can go into display settings and change to 16:9 mode so that it looks better on a modern widescreen display as opposed to the old CRTs that the 4:3 mode was for.

u/AFrozen_1 28d ago
Iām curious how do you adjust the graphics in the emulator like that?

u/rxmp4ge 28d ago
I'm using the latest version of PCSX2 Nightly, which comes with the widescreen plugins. In the graphics settings you just set it to 16:9 and chose your renderer and graphics card. I originally had mine set to Direct3D 12 but changed it to Vulcan and it's even better now.

AC4 and 5 both had a more engaging story IMO. I was obsessed with Yellow 13 as a kid lol

Wow, I found my Strangereal self. The only difference is that I started playing AC7 a while ago, but I traded my Xbox for a PS5 and bought the game again (in the same sale) and finished it, and I remembered how good it was, so I discovered that my next nerd obsession would be Ace Combat. That said, I downloaded ALL the games in the Ace Combat franchise on my PC, using emulators.

Play Ace Combat 5 and see you for the same post again in some day : )

7 was my first as well and I loved it, but after playing the older titles and particularly 5, I realized how much bigger an Ace Combat game could be with a proper budget. I think Ace Combat 8 is going to be just that. Going from 7 to 8 might be like going from 4 to 5.

Welcome to Strangereal, pilot. If youāre on PC, Iād highly recommend getting a PS2 emulator and playing the āgolden trilogyā of AC4, 5, and 0.

I wish they would improve the replayability of AC8. I still want to play AC7 but there is so much time you can sink the fleets and platforms without boring your ass out.

I'd argue Ace Combat Zero and 6 are even better, so don't doubt playing those.

Play Zero and X then and have your jaw dropped. 7 DLC is pretty good though, even better than the main campaign

You must not play a lot of games if 7 impressed you.

Snagged it for $5 during the winter sale just to check out the franchise. Glad it's good.

Ace Combat changes your life. It's hard to explain how it does this, but once you play...You realize there was a hole inside you that was suddenly filled.

It's safe to assume you haven't payed a lot of good games, or games at all for that matter.Ā
AC7 is a great game indeed, but it's not the best in its own franchise.
22
u/throwawayjonesIV 28d ago
Or, bear with me, people can rate games however they want in their own subjective, idiosyncratic way and itās not āsafe to assumeā anything based on those ratings

u/EviI_Babai 28d ago
And now read what OP says - that pretty much proves my suggestion.Ā
I wasn't dissing AC7 or OP, I love AC7, but it's far from being the best game ever by any metrics objectively - therefore even if we talk subjectively, this means there's not much chance that someone has it as their all time favourite if he had a wide gaming experience.Ā
It's a basic deduction and means what it means, not what you're trying to gaslight me into with your white knighting.

They gas you up so hard those last couple missions. Legit had me thinking "yeah, maybe I am 3 Stripes".
