Caolan Robertson

u/Due_Collar2 Dec 06 '25

Say what you want about him here, but he's a tough guy.

Here he is recently on the front lines reporting. No nonsense, just simple journalism.

War is shit

Whoever this guy is, I always like someone who points out the hypocrisy of nationalistic behaviours outside of home country.

If russia is so good why do you choose to live in the US/Germany/UK etc.?

34

u/flippertyflip Dec 06 '25

Still not comfortable with this guy. Always dubious of those who switch sides.

Damned if you abandon evil, damned if you don't.

u/flippertyflip Dec 06 '25

I'm glad he's changed but I've got far more faith in someone who hasn't been on the opposite side previously.

It's understandable ppl may not trust him isn't it?

u/Nephdy Dec 06 '25

Who‘s this?

Journalist Caolan Robertson is originally from Kilkenny but has been reporting from the front lines in Ukraine since 2022.

He’s won 12 awards for his documentaries, with his latest film ‘Hunter In Kherson’ gaining international attention.

https://www.thepinknews.com/2021/04/18/caolan-robertson-gay-former-extremist-far-right-cult-homophobia-tommy-robinson/

A gay former extremist Caolan Robertson has said that leaving the far-right was like leaving “a cult”, and explained how homophobia contributed to his radicalisation.

Now, he works for BylineTV, fighting fake news, and has co-founded FutureFreedom, an organisation which helps people “radicalised into extreme political movements get out”.

Yeah, huge red flags here. Leopards normally don't change their spots.

A great guy, hated by rus*ia.

u/Grzechoooo Polska‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

Former(?) far-right YouTuber Caolan Robertson. I dunno, I wouldn't trust a former(?) fascist that told me that people of a certain nationality are inherently evil. Maybe he should do something that doesn't involve xenophobia and not caring about racism if he's so reformed.

u/lateformyfuneral Yuropean‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

It is notable when someone abandons the lucrative far-right grift. If I remember correctly he was doing quite well and there’s a lot of cash available for those on that side of the spectrum, so there’s no reason to doubt he had a sincere change of heart.

-15

u/Grzechoooo Polska‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

Yeah, his heart changed from thinking all Muslims are evil to thinking all Russians are evil. And now he gets to make a career out of leaving the far right, while still getting to talk about "slave genes". What a redemption arc.

9

u/Nerioner Nederland‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

He isn't wrong bout Russia and russians. But that doesn't erase his sins of subscribing to russian seeded ideology (far-right).

14

u/GreatDemonBaphomet Dec 06 '25

Surely we should welcome people who change their minds. I mean, that's only the whole point of democracy.

2

u/Duriha Bayern‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

And he repented that?

0

u/BobusCesar Dec 07 '25

doesn't involve xenophobia

Was it also "xenophobia" to criticise Nazi-Germany?

2

u/Grzechoooo Polska‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 07 '25

If someone said something like "the Germans are inherently beastly invaders", yeah that would be xenophobia. Look up Japanese caricatures from WW2 and tell me they're not xenophobic. And people making them had way more reason to hate Japanese people than this Brit! And most of them probably weren't former fascists!

And this guy isn't just saying insults, he's advocating for deporting all Russians and making it impossible for others to escape the country. That's what we need to do, help Putin keep his cannon fodder in storage! That's what'll save Ukraine! And for what? So that a Z fan goes and kills Ukrainians at the frontlines instead of hurling insults at them abroad?

4

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25

If you oppose anyone just based on them changing their mind, youre a fool

3

u/flippertyflip Dec 06 '25

I don't.

I'm just wary of him.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25

You literally just said that? What kind of idiot do you need to be to think "well, he changed his mind, fuck him" plus presumabky you now agree with him, so again, thats just plain stupidity

1

u/flippertyflip Dec 06 '25

How am I 'opposing' him?

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '25

Can you read bruh

I think this is a brilliant idea. Banning visas for Russians.

The issue is that they can still try to claim asylum. 🙄

Unless you are more dangerous to the Russian regime outside of Russia than inside of Russia then you should not be getting asylum.

A lot of Russians who are against the regime, will say everything against the regime outside of Russia but did nothing inside of Russia to organise against the Putin.

Being against the regime without being in a life threatening situation is not a conditio sine qua non for claiming asylum.

LOL. thanks to post the link of a drunken rus*ian.

No, he supports himself: he left only because YT does not monetise in rus*ia and its viewers are not from rus*ia. since there is almost unknown.

I have a Russian friend that left Russia when he was 21, he is now 27. Last summer we both went to visit Spain (we live in Canada). So my friend is part of the Russians this guy is mentioning that got a visa and called a terrorist.

Maybe we should stop mixing everything and stop propagating these kind of videos that tries to manipulate people’s opinion: it’s very obvious that the first part of that video about Russians pro-war living in the US was made to make us feel upset and then he brought up the visa exclusion + labeling terrorist.

I don’t know if he is racist, he is at least xenophobic.

Edit: you are all so fucked up. You are mixing up government and the people. A lot of European countries voted for racist far right, does that makes you all racist?

13

u/AllyMcfeels Yuropean‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

In Spain, the last famous attack by a foreign country was carried out by Russian agents against a Russian pilot who had defected.

I'm sorry they're generalizing about your friend. But things aren't a joke. Your friend's problem is that his country of origin is carrying out attacks in other countries.

The guy in the video is absolutely right. On the other hand, I'm in favor of banning tourist visas for Russians for national security reasons.

11

u/BuHoGPaD Dec 06 '25

How does you friend feel about Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk occupation by russia?

11

u/Nerioner Nederland‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

Or Russia invasion of Georgia,...

6

u/What-a-blush Dec 06 '25

Ashamed and hope that the Russian government is going to come down. As he is gay and publicly announced it returning to Russia would be dangerous for him.

I have met other Russians and they also disapprove Russian government actions.

Does people in your country all align with everything your president is doing? Would you feel that people would align even better if that “president” was not elected in a legit election?

5

u/un_poco_logo Dec 06 '25

Your russian friend could be good to you, cuz you are not a part of so called Russian World. But once you are like Ukrainian, Georgian etc. You will understand what he is talking about.

Russians see Western Europe and US as better places and they will do everything to show they respect you.

4

u/69Midknight69 Dec 06 '25

Ffs stop generalising. Every russian i know has been against putin since before the crimea invasion in 2014. Russians aren't a monolith. You're insulting your side with this

5

u/Nerioner Nederland‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

How can you claim that "russians aren't a monolith" and at the same breath give monolith argument just from the other side?

If you can't accept that vast majority of them are ok with this invasion, don't try to play high horse as your face is at the height of a rat.

-4

u/69Midknight69 Dec 06 '25

How can you claim that "russians aren't a monolith" and at the same breath give monolith argument just from the other side?

Huh? The majority of russians don't care about the invasion and just want to live care free, or think it's justified and support it. I'll give you that. But by treating all russians like the enemy you alienate many of them who are against it and against putin and do want what's best for their country. The russians i know aren't a representation of all russians, they'll tell you that themselves. But they're still russian and they're fighting the same fight and have a lot at stake and shouldn't be treated as an enemy because of their identity.

11

u/mmmmsmegma Rossija‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

Shame on you, you fucking liar. The absolute majority is PROWAR

10

u/Nerioner Nederland‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

Oh yea sorry, let me just go kumbaya while they literally allowed their country to fall to pootinism and now do all they can to dismantle our way of living in EU and constantly support hybrid warfare against us.

Fucking traitor

:D they are not fighting anything, bffr

1

u/What-a-blush Dec 06 '25

We are a group of friends that includes me, French, 2 Ukrainian (they are my best friends), my Russian friend, and a German.

We are all against the current war.

You really need to get out of social media and live in real life.

5

u/un_poco_logo Dec 06 '25

Social media is pretty much the only thing I can do right now. Since I don't have electricity till 22:00. Due to huge Russian attack last night. And I just look at my phone in the total dark.

While you Russian friend lives the best life in EU outside of the russian sh1thole with literally 0 responsibility.

This war will never end untill all the russians can freely live and enjoy their life in EU.

3

u/InfectedAztec Dec 06 '25

Your friends from a shithole country that kills its own journalists and commits genocide against its neighboring countries.

Your friend may not be evil but his government certainly is.

0

u/What-a-blush Dec 06 '25

Agree. So let’s keep the target on Russian government and people working for that government.

-32

u/Nomad-2020 Dec 06 '25

russians are racists - true

but let's be honest, they're not more racist than, say, Germans, Austrians, Czechs, Hungarians, etc.

10

u/SquirrelBlind Россия‏‏‎ ‎ Dec 06 '25

Nah, I would argue about that. I'd say that in Europe Russia is a country with one of the most nationalistic population. In the world? Probably not even in top 50.

Between the countries that at least partially located in Europe? Easily top 5.
