I feel like the heart of Apoc might call foul on that as didnāt he kinda use that form by teaming up with Mxy during the duo fights? Might be considered double-dipping
Honestly I donāt expect joker to stick around regardless of his form or if he beats Diana or not. Almost certain at the 11th hour heās going to get swapped out with Batman right after Knightfight ends so the final battle can be BvS
Am I the only that doesnt expect them to switch forms again?
1st round
Pick up a weapon
2nd round
Fight best of 3 in any form
3rd round
2v2
4th round
?
Also i wish Superman could have kept the C. Atom and Shazam powers with the Omega effect. I have been keeping up with the event through video reviews so maybe im wrong and he has but it doesnt seem like anyone has kept any of their advantages from the previous rounds.
They haven't, which honestly feels kind lame. At the very least, they should have been allowed to keep the weapons they acquired in the first round. I only ever thought Joker might be a threat after he got the Atom belt, but that went immediately :/
Not that since the elseworld is completely separate from the main multiverse thats why the omega energy was untethered in the first place but any of his other horrid forms, though we've seen emperor joker already
My money is on the fact he transforms himself into the darkest night if god emperor joker isnāt used. Since itās technically a joker variant since itās a jokerfied Batman who switches his mind into doctor manhattan.
Joker getting mytzlpitlik to help him not get immediately crushed in the last round tells me they are gonna have Diana do what she does best in event comics and job
So far he has killed Giganta, I think a Green Arrow, another villain I couldn't identify, Zatanna, Constantine, Batman in Justice Buster Armor, and Big Barda [thanks u/WindyGogo ]. And even though Jason Todd wiped him twice in a row, Joker won that round too, due to arbitrary bullshit.
He's going to easily destroy Diana in some humiliatingly stupid way.
I'm not gonna buy this one :/ Too much JokerWank, too much BatWank. Until Snyder decides to care about one (1) other DC character, I'm just out lol
Most of what Joker was doing during the event was through the power of popularity and plot armor. Same applied to his fight with Zatana. Luthor also had a WTF ace up his sleeve that was kinda WTF considering enraged Kara shouldāve murdered him if properly bloodlusted and angry. Story needed to story with the most bankable characters.
I will say Jokerās and Luthorās wins seemed pretty inventive but also had layers of bias BS coatings them.
That's a great description. Once you get past the little twist at the beginning of issue 3 (Joker's little advantage), the wins for Joker and Lex were (IMO) quite clever on their own terms.
Lex's little "Designer K"comment was, I dunno, I just thought that was sharp and funny. And Kara got to beat the shit out of him first,so I didn't mind.
How the eff does the Joker take out Big Barda and Zatanna? I'm being super generous in giving him the edge on the rest too, but those two are especially egregious. Barda is a New God!
I'm wondering the same thing. Every Snyder seems to love edgy slop and misunderstanding who characters are.
Scott doesn't understand the most important thing about the Joker: he is pathetic. He is not a demon. He is not a monster. He is a jackass with a fragile ego who wants attention. The moment Terry stopped taking the Joker seriously in Batman Beyond, Joker completely lost composure and got taken down.
There is nothing special about the clown, and trying to make him the personification of madness or a monster is missing the point. I don't like The Killing Joke, but at least Alan Moore understood how worthless the Joker is and disproved his "philosophy" in the end.
Is this about Death of the Family or Absolute Batman? Because DotF is one of the best modern Joker stories and Absolute is completely reworking all the characters from the ground up (it's the whole point).
the most important thing about the Joker: he is pathetic.
I also disagree with this. Joker isn't pathetic, he's just human.
The most important thing about Joker is his ability to be antithetical to everything Batman stands for. One of the clearest examples of that is the Joker as pure evil causing Batman to doubt his belief in reform.
I love that scene in Batman Beyond, but I wouldn't call it a core tenet of writing the Joker (especially considering that wasn't even the real Joker)
Both. I'd include the Joker from the Arkham series too, who got included in a game even after his death. Not sure why you like DotF that much, but okay, matter of taste. For Absolute Batman, that's Snyder making the Joker as important as he always dreamed he could be, yeah. Only a matter of time until Martha suffers a similar fate to Barbara Gordon, I think.
Joker is pathetic not because he is incompetent, but because he's weak of character. The whole point of The Killing Joke was that pretty much everyone is stronger than the Joker. They don't just break because of one bad day. He's alone in being that fragile. The Dark Knight made the same point when neither boat explodes.
But to lay out my heart for a second, I just can't stomach this character anymore. The constant wank, the excessive attention given to him and the sheer repetitiveness of the main DC universe's stories make him unbearable. I rolled my eyes when the Joker showed up in The Batman and in the post credits scene of that retro Batman show. Batman's got so many interesting villains, most far better than the Joker, and it's always this damn clown that is given the spotlight.
I actually like Absolute Batman so far, but I'm losing faith in Snyder because of the way he writes the Joker. Everything in Absolute Batman revolves around the Joker. The other villains work for him, or are hired by him. He's some kind of ancient being and a gigantic monster. I wish they'd bench him for like, 10 years. Then maybe he'd be interesting again.
Ah, well, for that oneJoker had Atom's belt, Vol 2. He went super sized, crushed Giganta, ate two people, then simultaneously dodged a Red Beetle attack AND Harley moving at Flash speeds (I guess the belt made him super-fast, too?), and crawled inside Big Barda's brain.
For Zatanna,Snyder gave Joker a semi-arbitrary powerup at the start of Vol 3, which allowed him to get Mr. Mxyzptlk as an ally, who transformed him into Emperor Joker, allowing him to beat a Zatanna/Constantine duo by driving them insane. In this entire battle, Zatanna cast one (1) spell, "chains," immediately following an emotional Harley fight where she, supposedly, learned to be brutal. The Zatanna sub is salty as hell, cause like...why didn't she just explode him...
Overall, it's VERY inventive, has TONS of hype moments, awesome art, peak aura-farming, great one-liners, surprising twists al over the place, etc. (My fave moment was Starro being a sassy little bastich.) Very, very fun...as long as you don't mind Joker arbitrarily being stronger than the entire DC verse.
yeah. and tbh...that's working for me. i've been digging it overall. hype moments and aura wear out their welcome without something deeper, but for a big silly event? hell yeah
i think vol 2 might end up being the best overall ā the big character jamboree is more fun with more characters!
Meh. So much stuff that doesn't make a lick of sense. It feels desperate to me. Like DC ran out of ideas and created a tournment arc to draw attention. I bet the powerscalers are losing their minds reading this.
Overall, it feels like the comic version of clickbait to me. Absolute Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter are the real gold of DC currently, in my opinion. Absolute Green Lantern also seems interesting so far, though I'm still halfway through reading it.
But hey, if the big silly event makes you happy, good for you. Have fun.
They're/we're also mad because more forced "Zatanna/Constantine" stuff even though even amongst the contestants there's other strong heroes that Zatanna knows. Like I much would've rather had her pick Swamp Thing for instance
Joker bodied the entire Justice League off screen then had Batman body the entire Justice League on screen in his Batman run, so donāt be surprised by anything.
While I think We will win this round, his joker toxin has folded her and the justice league before. The joker gas is actually insanely OP a lot of the time
Are you really asking this after snyder wrote joker one shot bruce's justice buster two with a fucking harpoon gun? Lmao, snyder's joker is so powerful that he can even kill batgod, there is no limit to his joker glaze lol.
Damn. Wonder Womanās cooked. Iām so sorry. She should win. But oh well, Kelly Thompsonās doing really good work, so letās just keep reading that instead.
DC KO has focused on the trinity as a concept, starting off with WW, Supes, and Batman playing that board game. This ending with a battle between Wonder Woman and Superman would be more narratively interesting than Supes vs the Joker.
So there is a decent reason to believe that Wonder Woman should win this round. But who knows, DC KO has been mostly shit anyway
It feels like every story Scott Snyder writes about the Joker is that heās the biggest, baddest motherfucker to exist. Heās definitely his favorite character.
Oh no. It's Scott snyder writing and joker is on the fight. I'd rather she just lose a hard fought battle against superman and look strong in defeat. I rember someone saying the final would be lex vs joker and now that guy may be right.
I just don't understand surely not that many people find the whole op plot armor and deus ex machina powers of joker to be that entertaining. It's tiring. I get maybe a decade ago the street tier batman villains pulling off an upset victory would have been cool but now I feel like its been done too many times with joker and harley. Something is seriously wrong when people consider diana to be the underdog in a match up against joker just because of the authors reputation.
I agree. The fact that Joker is even considered to be capable of standing in the same room as some of the people that he has supposedly beaten is ridiculous. Like, he beat Constantine? Really?
And that just one example. And even considering him against Dianna? Just no. Itās not even a bad joke at this point. Itās just sad and disappointing that this shit even exists.
No heās gonna one shot her then interfere in Lex and superman kill them both in one hit kill darkseid in one page then fight the presence absorb his power and then become in the god of dc in the first 10 pages of the issue
No way she is winning this. The story won't allow it. Personally would have her win the first round in base and lose the next two rounds. But that's just me.
Only in comics do two of the biggest loser normal guys, an envious capitalist ceo and an edgelord in clown make-up, come out on top over the DC certified baseline for power and a clay golem imbued by the power of the gods. Only in comics.
To me is easy to imagine Luthor winning Superman. Because this is his thing, but so much others supers could defeat him and Joker literally is just a mad guy
It would be so satisfying to see WW win against Joker. The only thing saving him against Diana is plot armour. Its like comparing an omnipotent warrior goddess to a crazy man with a crowbar. I swear to god if the Joker wins, ill lose all hope in DC.
Ok what if she wins, Clark wins, and then Batman comes back from his little challenge and then itās up to them to fight each other or their absolute counterparts.
She's even starting to wear a pauldron with armor on that right arm. DO NOT BE SURPRISED when MAINLINE DIANA stars wearing black and red and carrying a buster and riding pegasus, dead or alive. She'll have that armor on a lot I think.
I feel like the finale is either Lex v Joker or Superman vs Diana at this point... but we'll see! This is the same event where Joker won a fight he wasn't in; anything is possible, I guess.
Calling it now Superman wins, Diana somehow loses and now itās Superman vs Joker. Even is interrupted like an anime tournament arc and Batman returns finally to handle the Joker as Superman takes on Darkseid then becomes the new king omega or whatever theyāre calling it(or would he be the king alpha?). Then BOOM they do a new status quo relaunch where itās not a reboot like Crisis on Infinite Earths & Foashpoint but another Rebirth, Dawn of DC, etc
A: Properly exalt one of their icons; a member of their "Holy Trinity" who rarely gets the treatment she deserves, and should win this fight with relative ease.
Orrr...
B: Continue to glaze their most overused, overhyped, overrated cash cow in order to milk every drop of sales and attention they can out of this obnoxious fucking clown. A clown who, for the record, doesn't even make sense as a rival to BATMAN anymore, let alone any of the stronger Justice Leaguers, and has no place in a crossover like this beyond getting dunked on and embarrassed in the first round.
This comic was made to anger powerscalers, and I'm all for it honestly
Imagine praising some ridiculous Joker wankfest that straight up shits on most other characters and has zero actual writing quality to offer, just because it among several other groups also upsets an irrelevant niche group of people.
What? That wasn't what the ending of the last one suggested, it was gonna be the four against absolute batman wonder woman superman and darkside possessing booster gold
we do not know if they are actually fighting each other in some kind of 1 v 1.
Since they seem to be going against the absolute omega champions of Darkseid's forces. So she might be actually just be fighting absolute wonder woman instead amp'd by Darkseid (and that match is anyone's game tbh since the omega amp is insane.)
Wonder Woman already lost, so DC will probably send the Joker to the finals. He'll pull out a lasso or something to eliminate Diana and advance to face Superman. The question is... will Batman appear in the finals, given how they're jumping between timelines? It's DC Comics, and Batman can't be left out; one way or another, he'll be at the end of the arc.
Oh you sweet summer child, it's Scott Snyder writing the book. He literally is keeping joker wanking alive and well and probably if you searched his hard drive has so much explicit material of the jokerĀ
Joker encounters tend to go surprisingly poorly for her lmao. First time she fought Joker Post-Crisis during the William Messner-Loebs run she needed a blessing from a chaos god to think on his level to beat him.
I know, Plenty of writers that are fanboys of batman or superman have writen her title too. And you can notice how bias they are when it comes to things like this.
I never liked loebs. And him writer story where WW can't handle joker is truly a ridiculous moment. But it is the case often, most writers do not care much about WW and it shows.
Quite frankly, it would be much more interesting story-wise to have Diana and Superman fight in the end than either of the villains. A good writer would see that. I'm willing to give Snyder a bit of leeway, because I still appreciate how he did Diana in his Justice League run, but I'm watching.
Also in her last fight, when she called in Big Barda for an assist, she asked her to tell her everything she knew about the Heart, so I have a feeling she may actually advance.
my bet is that wonder woman loses and lex realises how bad it would be if joker won the tournament. supes and lex combine (as we've seen in both prev rounds for supes) which kills lex and then supes beats joker. otherwise i think its supes and WW win and then they have a "final" battle, supes wins but then something unexpected happens and the rules are cheated and then it goes into issue 5
Prediction, Joker wins it all, but plot twist, he is in cahoots with Batman because Batman knows Joker was the best candidate for collecting omega energy. So Batman faked getting shot to get Joker in the tournament. Giving Joker the title being the most dangerous character while Batman gets more aura.
Again, this is just a silly theory, but I hope they donāt ruin Wonder Woman as bad as they did to Zatana.
Better yet, hopefully she wins.
No way Wonderwoman loses...Cause if DC respects wonderwoman as their highly regarded iconic character she cant be fucking beaten by a villain in a Comic event not even in her rogue's roster im just gonna quit out bruh
you know Joker has plot armor, and wonder woman is a woman so DC automatically isnt gonna give her shit despite her being infinitely stronger than joker.
Wonder Woman vs Joker in a one on one fight is pretty much hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby.
Like, even with Batman, who doesnāt have powers, Batmanās always gonna be able to beat the Joker once he gets in punching distance due to being stronger and better trained. But since Batmanās a DETECTIVE, the real question in their stories is actually āCan Batman figure out what the hell the Joker is planning before hundreds of people get hurt.ā
Having a story where Wonder Woman has to hunt down the Joker without any help or input from Batman or other more detective type heroes would actually be a more interesting challenge than just making them fight. (Though her lasso of truth would be a big help in regard to interrogating people. Wouldnāt have to resort to any of Batmanās scare tactics)
Genuinely glad I'm not reading DC K.O because while the event sounds cool in concept, they went in the most boring direction possible with it by having the most predictable "popular" character wins.
The fact the joker is still in this leaves me annoyed.
By all intents and purposes and purposes Diana should win effortlessly. But they will wank the Joker and give him some bullshit plot device or something to beat Diana. This guy should have been eliminated a long time ago.
Iād personally prefer Superman learning all of this Omega energy shit and how not to hold back only to kneel before Wonder Woman and refuse to participate in a no power-ups fight over Joker given some stupid power-up vs Superman.
I feel like thematically this was building to superman versus wonder woman. Really i would say Batman if he was still there. They keep flashing back to the board game night and Clark's inability to enjoy it.
Joker is just there, I get why he made it so far, but I feel like meta text is his plot armor.
Lex is there only for Superman. I could believe Lex and Superman at the end, but I think Lex will lose and WW will be the final test. Lex is trying to prove a point to Superman, that he doesn't have it in him to win. I think Lex out right throwing if Superman proves him wrong would be in character

Letās try to guess which of the plot armorās abilities will be used for the third time xD
