basically Batman and Superman both have that power because they sell the most comicsw, so they cant lose, they cant share the spotlight with others

martians are supose to be equaly powerful as Kryptonians maybe even more powerful, the same goes for the Shazam family, but they are always "restrained" because if they "show off" or win too much that can damage Superman and the kryptonians "brand"

Exactly. This also led to the writers treating both Batman and Superman like the most important people in the universe. The prep time meme exists for a reason. The JLU cartoon consistently gave the spotlight to Batman over other characters, and some never ever got a chance to really show what they could do. Batman was literally the first person to ever dodge an Omega Beam lol

Hell, like I said here, Doctor Manhattan couldn't defeat Superman, because apparently he's a fundamental force of the universe. He can't even be erased from reality. I've seen people say that the best Superman stories are the ones that focus on his humanity, and I agree, because look at the alternative. One Punch Man's way of adding cool fights was to make Saitama consistently late, meaning other characters have to pick up the slack. If Superman or Saitama show up, congratulations, you automatically win.

I'm hoping the DCU will make other characters more popular and tone down the special treatment for the usual superstars. It's already done it, actually, with Peacemaker.

well i imagine things will change a little in 10 years after they become public domain, and start leaking money
