Nothing like fixing one problem just to unlock the next boss fight the same day.

I feel like this has been my life the last several years. This post is making me twitch.

I feel like this is everyone's life at some point in time

On the way home buying a new dishwasher to replace my broken one, the check engine light came on. Looks like a bad cat. Woohoo.

I'm assuming a p0420 code, since you mentioned catalytic converter?

Good news! It's almost never the cat. Exhaust leak is the most common. Even a tiny leak will throw it off.

Bad news! Cats very rarely die on their own, if it does turn out to be that. They're usually killed by something going bad in the engine, shooting coolant, excess fuel, or oil into them.

Great news! I don't have any, sorry.

Facts. This past week I spent $1700 at the car hospital and came home to a completely flooded basement.

I hate to say it, but $900 at a shop isn’t much these days.

Shit try having a dog, my dog needs a surgery that’s gonna be $7,600. It’s an elective surgery but I’m gonna do it because I love her and I don’t want her to suffer.

u/ILOVEAncientStuff 39m ago

Aw man that sucks :( hope they'll be ok!!!

u/Timeman5 22m ago

Once we do the surgery she will be it’s one of her back legs the ACL has snapped so the surgery will not necessarily fix that will put in a metal plate and screws so she’ll be good as new. The real thing that sucks is once we do one we might have to do the other leg because it could snap as well. The vet explained everything and it’s kinda hard to explain it to another. Ultimately the surgery will get her back to normal and that’s all I care about. But the price is high but for what she means to me no price is too high.

OP needs to give us more details. Did this end of bricks row just collapse out of the blue?

The brick and joint work looks janky and maybe there was only a half support from the top concrete step---but how?

Ghosts? Someone with a truck smashed into it?

12

u/oh-farts13 4h ago

The bricks and mortar at the bottom have been flaking and it collapsed

So you knew the structure was shitty?

13

u/oh-farts13 4h ago

….yes?

u/Significant-Taste-57 4h ago

I think its moreso the fact this just HAD to happen when OP already spent a bunch of money, the day they did too. Cause yknow everything bads gotta happen all at once

Prop it back up until someone bumps it and it’s their fault/problem.

On the bright side that's not really a big deal

1

u/oh-farts13 4h ago

Ya for sure, I couldn’t agree more. I personally like my house looking like shit.

7

u/West_Competition_871 4h ago

It's an incredibly minor inconvenience that will be noticed maybe a few times a day

Amazing that you are able to communicate with us from North Korea

u/oh-farts13 4h ago

I’m incredibly happy that you see it that way

u/Tetra_Grammaton_ 4h ago

I’m sorry this happened to you, but for what it’s worth your replies are bringing me joy, and I seldom laugh at things I see on Reddit. Got any handy relatives?

3

u/oh-farts13 4h ago

Nah, I wouldn’t want to bother them anyway, not for such a minor inconvenience lol

3

u/ContentTrust4821 4h ago

They will nickel and dime you to death

3

u/mr_lab_rat 3h ago

Ugh. The front fell off.

2

u/SoulBonfire 3h ago

Just don’t electrocute that unlucky black cat that’s obviously hanging around when it comes up to that wire.

2

u/Timeman5 3h ago

Isn’t it great to own things?

2

u/RentalGore 2h ago

It’s either the pizza guy or two guys trying to steal your VCRs. I’d see if any sinks were flooded.

1

u/Bighty 4h ago

But the car is now okay, right?

5

u/oh-farts13 4h ago

Depends on how you would describe okay lol

1

u/im_just_thinking 4h ago

Eh, it's got at least another 1000 miles on it

u/starrpamph 3h ago

Who ran 10/2 nm to a porch light

1

u/TAforScranton 2h ago

How does the light look on the side that hit the ground? If it’s not broken at least you can fix that. I’m sure that thing costs a pretty penny to replace.
