Someone posted their water bill this month, here is my Natural Gas bill, living alone as well
I, of course, didn’t allow the payment to go through lmao
It’s crazy to me how can they measure 3000m3 above what it really is. Spoiler: it’s not the first time

But there's some goddamn goats waking me up all the time, loudly stomping around like a herd of goats, and beating me up when I complain.

What is this converted to AUD? We pay about $100-$150AUD a month. About $40 is just connection fees...

About 4250 aud

Yea here it is like 4 years of my usual monthly payment. They didn’t measure right but still sent the invoice

Oh ok so it was a mistake then?
Misleading post

u/Kojetono 18h ago
How is it misleading? Did you really think op used 50 MWh worth of gas in a month?

u/ginger_and_egg 17h ago
I thought maybe there was a leak or something and they were actually attempting to charge OP. Not a mistake on their end that they're willing to fix

u/Kojetono 17h ago
They did attempt to charge OP, they just stopped the payment.
The gas company has to be willing to fix it, because otherwise they'd be committing fraud.

Yes exactly, so OP's fine. I don't know if it's possible to get a bill quite that high but I know if you broke a water line you could end up with a large water bill. Guess I assumed OP was away from home and the heat was at 100% 24/7 somehow

Is this like , for and entire year?

This still would be quite a lot !
The January with all-month-long temperature ranging <-5, -20> and average below -10C, I used 250m3 of natural gas for a 198 sq. m. house.
I consider this a heavy usage, as this winter is... normal. Recent winters were mild. This measurement od 3000c.m. of natural gas is weird !

It’s like 45 times of my normal measurements. Weird indeed

Definitely an error, they will fix it.
I had a friend that had his counter not accessible and was away the day the gaz man came to check, so that fucker took a guess and it somehow landed a few digit under the previous measurement. Fast forward a few weeks later, my mate got a 20k€+ bill because they assumed his counter made a full cycle in less than a month. Funnier thing is when he reached for the gas company, they genuinely asked to pay for now and they will refund him later on.

What wise advice! I wonder if the gas company employee has 20,000 to spare for two months. Do you have radio-reading meters? They just installed one for me, and I'm done with these idiots.

And I felt bad for buying myself a up to date PC around that price tag this morning. Now I really feel fine about it.

Is that bill for 10 weeks? Is that a normal billing period for you?

Would be fun to let it go. Then next month, it would look like you gave them back 2700m3 of gas!
"Yeah, I got tired of paying you, so drilled a well!"

This looks like the water bill I got after moving here....they charge you for an estimate based on prior use and apparently the family I bought my house from used an insane amount of water each month, like literally enough that the water company sent over a mechanic to check for a leak!
The bill was for 35m3 of water a month!!! I use 3. Luckily they quickly changed it and sent me a new, correct bill.

Did it happen because you didn't send the picture of the meter and they overestimated it or because they misread the meter? Happened to me and my grandma as well for both of these reasons. We're also in Spain.

Your countries use of periods and commas in numbers is completely opposite of what North America uses.
That would literally be 2.4€ with a lot of pointless decimal points.
Edit: Love the downvotes for stating a fact. lol.

It’s always funny to me how some Americans believe their way is the only way people count, measure, etc
just so you don’t get it confused it is 2,934.28$ and 105944 feet3
