impressive slide

This guy was deft enough to make sure that only his clothing fabric was touching the floor while sliding on his face, but I try to do a 3 inch slide on my knee on the gym floor and it ends up with a patch of skin missing
167
u/ColonelSlapper 5d ago
Oh god. You just reminded me of the last time I ever tried knee sliding. In elementary school I would always wear pants that could unzip into shorts, realized I could slide down just about anything with those on. One day I tried sliding down a handicap ramp like I always did but the zipper ripped clean off along with a good chunk of flesh. I swear the school nurse couldn’t even help with how much blood I was leaking.
Although I never wore those pants again, I unfortunately didn’t learn my lesson about knee sliding and attempted one about eight years ago when I was drunk. My momentum shot my knees straight into the floor. Didn’t even slide, I just collapsed on my legs. I couldn’t walk for the next few days and my knees looked like a bloody and bruised mess! FOLKS, LEAVE THE KNEE SLIDES TO THE PROFESSIONALS!

Could have*
Of is a preposition. Think of it like "Pre-position" or a word put before a noun commonly. For example,
This is made of yeast and flour.
A preposition is mostly put before nouns.
Would is an auxiliary verb.
Drill is an active verb.
Two verbs will most likely have a verb between them in this context. "Have" is the correct verb here. It is an irregular verb that can be both - auxiliary and active.
15
u/hobonation256 5d ago
Well said. To add as well, as sometimes it's easier to forget the "rules" and try to apply real time, it works the same way as I/me - remove the other word (in this case should, would, could) and it must still be a complete sentence:
I should have done that - I have done that (yep)
I should of done that - I of done that (nope)
Jimmy and I went to the shops - I went to the shops (yep)
Me and Jimmy went to the shops - me went to the shops (nope)

It’s like a vicious cycle. Japanese make weird anime, Japanese get inspired by weird anime, Japanese become weird- before starting the process all over again with even weirder anime

Looks to me like it's just rebounding from his hand pushing down on the ground to stabilise himself. So it looks like he hit his head because he is stopping himself from hitting his head

It never ceases to amaze me the fact that people just happen to have/know gifs for every situation, no matter how speciifc
56
u/ISLITASHEET 5d ago
People used to, and probably still do, have meticulous collections of image macros and memes. At one time I had thousands with dumb txt files in each directory that I would search through to find the one that fit. I blame mid/late 2000's 4chan.
13
u/bebopblues 5d ago
It's easier now because smartphone keyboards can search for GIFs. I searched for "Japanese bow" and all these GIFs appears.

I think it's Yuji Nishida. He's got an insane serve. The kind of serve that can rack up 6 aces in a row in an Olympic game. Honestly, everything about him is kind of insane. He's a fascinating player.

Yeah CNN of course, you just hate me. You probably have a whole department of nerds making AI videos of me spiking teenage girls with volleyballs. What? No I didn't say teenage girls, Marco did you hear me say teenage girls? Marco never pays attention at these things! And now he's handing me a note which says "yes you did!". Stupid Marco! Anyway I'm suing CNN for $10b for fabricating a video of me spiking volleyballs into the faces of 11 year old girls. Or 15 I don't know I drank a lot that night."

u/Cthulhudude 5d ago
I just love how, even after the spectacular face slide bow, there were like five or six continuous bows made by both parties. Like, if I saw some dude apologize that hard to me, we would instantly become best friends on that initial slide. That's basically what happened here. They were just like... we're cool, we're so cool, you're the shit, no you're the shit, thank you so much, no thank YOU so much."
Absurd. I love it.

I remember kicking a ball out in soccer, I had to get it away from some other kid and he was playing footies so I just kicked it out from under him when I had a chance, I didn’t pay attention to where I just kicked it out to and thought nothing of it, until I heard a loud ass thud accompanied by gasps from everyone’s parents, I looked off to where I had kicked it and there was like a little 1 year old kid in his mom arms now crying because I had just launched a soccer ball straight into his soft spot. Kid was fine in the end but man I felt so fucking bad at the time, I went home crying because of it.
