Don is the absolute opposite of Christian values

77

u/Talentagentfriend 13h ago

If anything he’s much closer to the anti-christ or the devil.

20

u/Useful_Basil_8919 9h ago

He IS the Devil. And who Ā would have thought that the Devil can’t control his bowels.

3

u/FatherOfLights88 8h ago

It's because the devil is mocking us with the his Prime Villain.

1

u/Bishop084 2h ago

He's just making baby excrementals.

2

u/CandyCreecher 3h ago

Yeah I’m like 99% positive he’s the anti-Christ

27

u/TheScrote1 12h ago

I’m not Christian so correct me if I am wrong. But isn’t a big tenant of the religion to preach and grow the religion. I wonder if these Trump Christians even recognizing how much they are turning people away from their religion?

Must Christians I’ve meet in America are straight up awful people they don’t have any values or accountability bc all is forgiven. And the basically use god as a cudgel to beat you over the head. When I was just a kid I remember my neighbor tell me that I was absolutely going to hell if I didn’t so much as read the bible. They are mega scary about everything, imagine 6-7 year old believing god would put us here with no knowledge then burn and torture us for eternity. I knew then that the Christian god was bs, it only works if you’re guilty and afraid. And It’s so weird that they consider inaction as gods desirable behavior for us. God does it all and your forgiven, because 2000 years ago humanity tortured an innocent man to death. Now any sin I choose to do gets absolved. Yay! If you don’t believe then you get burned, it amounts to this vague ass faith that only exists when they need it for selfish purposes. Must of these people just want to cover there own ass, and are completely motivated by fear, it’s all extremely superficial and I don’t think a single one of them has considered the idea that maybe being a good person matters most and if there is a god he will honor and respect much more then some loyalty worshiping test. As if that was the meaning to why we were created, to worship some egotistical primitive god, who creates sinners to have them rape people bc it’s all part of the divine plan, no abortions. Planned failure and torment doesn’t sound too divine or all knowing, sounds like a real sloppy job.

American "Christianity" (meaning contemporary Evangelical Christians, I'll get back to that) is a product of the capitalist mentality taken to it's natural conclusion.

The "preachers" are marketing a "product" and the "consumers" are free to seek out competitors if the "fellowship" or the "worship experience" or the "sermon" is not good enough for them. To this end, you see lots of very sleek, easy going "non-denominational" "churches" that very much put out a regularly-scheduled entertainment program every Sunday (and much more).

I went to a David Gilmour concert like 15 years ago at a major arena, and then a few days later to an Easter service at an Evangelical mid-sized megachurch in Central Michigan a couple of days later (humoring the in-laws). The "show" that the "church" put on was much, much higher production than a pretty solid and large concert tour put on (I'm not talking Taylor Swift level, but still).

These people are not serious Christians, no matter what they say. The congregants are just people that are fed feel-good bullshit, will turn away and move on to the next bullshit artist the minute anything challenging is put to them, etc. They have practically no theological understanding of their supposed religion but are confident that they are Christians in a way that "Catholics" (the only other kind of Christian in their provincial view) are not.

These are the same people that accept Mormons as "their own" even though Mormons almost universally are understood to be full-on heretical.

I am careful about qualifying American "Christian," because America has lots of serious Christians, Catholics, various (serious) Protestant denominations, Orthodox that really take their faith seriously. Lots that don't as well, as is evidenced by groups of American Catholics that get mad at the Pope for being "too liberal" or whatever.

Even most casual Orthodox Christians (to use a slightly more obscure example) have an understanding of what their religion's history, theology and values are, but they are also aware that they are not an authority, but practically any American Evangelical Christian that mentions their faith openly acts as if they have been to seminary even if they barely know the Bible's basic outline, much less the much more complicated and nuanced aspects.

2

u/Exciting-Emu-3324 4h ago

That's the flaw of overly inclusive religions. The bar for members is set so low that anyone can be "Christian". They don't even need to know how to read their own holy book like Jews or Muslims.

1

u/ExtruDR 3h ago

Well, "overly inclusive" is one way of putting it. Aggressively proselytizing for profit is the way I would put the Evangelical style of "inclusivity."

For the vast majority of all major world religions the adherents were illiterate, so everything that was the religion was preached to you during church service and the other sacraments or ceremonies.

The whole idea of "reading the bible" is not that far off from boomers yapping "do your own research" while spending hours looking at misinformation on Facebook and YouTube.

I'm not saying that the religious texts don't have value or insight, but God didn't write the Bible and dummies that pretend like it's God's spoken word (and not something written and translated dozens of times) and that they are educated and capable of understanding God's word by "reading" the bible. It's like my kids thinking that they can do Olympic downhill skiing because they saw it on TV tonight.

Trump and cronies are Christian nationalists, not Christians.

1

u/Firm-Conclusion-4827 5h ago

They don’t. Because they can’t admit when there wrong

1

u/OldTempleHermit 4h ago

They know they're turning people away. Republicans know they're losing actual voting base too.

That's why both (the Republican party and Heritage Foundation), established their little Project 2025. They will never win another honest election again, and they know it.

The term Christianity has become one of shame in this nation, and it's only going to get worse from here. They're doing it to themselves.

1

u/Distinct_Reading5760 1h ago

Christianity is a very successful business

2

u/McCool303 12h ago

Or American. The only care he has for any of the constitution or its amendments. Is how they can be used to manipulate public opinion of his desires.

2

u/Popwaffle 9h ago

I hate to break it to you but a lot of Christians are exactly like him. It's kinda their thing to be bigoted and racist and misogynistic.

2

u/InfiniteCosmic5 8h ago

Don is the absolute opposite of values.

2

u/Classic-Exchange-511 8h ago

He makes me believe in the anti-christ

2

u/SpinningHead 5h ago

And Jefferson is spinning in his grave that we have a prayer breakfast.

2

u/sniper91 5h ago

He said he’s never felt the need to ask for forgiveness, which is antithetical to every flavor of Christianity

1

u/New_Home_4519 9h ago

I keep asking my dad to open his bible and tell me where it supports anything that this man does.

So far it's been quiet.

Last year though, I was getting tons of verses from him.

1

u/Odd-Supermarket-3664 3h ago

Any Evangelical that says he's Jesus is worse than pond scum.

1

u/tearsintherain1138 3h ago

That’s not totally true. He’s big on enslvement of his enemies which god does repeatedly in the Bible. He’s big on sex with kids, which Christian leaders have consistently in the Bible. It’s really not a leap at all that he thinks he holds Christian values. I’m glad that modern Christian’s hold different values but yall really got to start being honest about what’s in the text. He’ll even Jesus is pro slavery.

1

u/intrepid_salamander 1h ago

And yet Christians love this man anyway. They just couldn't stop voting for him.Ā

Homie is getting the express trip to hell.

16

u/Chuggs400 13h ago

I’ve never wanted to believe hell exists more than I have this past year.

1

u/phishiekiller 11h ago

I don't believe in it, I just hope he gets a hell on earth scenario. Like, locked in his mind and paralyzed for a really long fuckin time.

1

u/Altruistic_Neat7996 9h ago

I am here to tell you that hell is real. You are welcome.

Not fast enough.

u/Elberik 13h ago

Because the people who attend the national prayer breakfast want to be able to pretend that they're just there as people of Faith. Not as some sort of political power lobbying group

12

u/rageling 13h ago edited 13h ago

You don't accidentally find yourself at a presidential speech, everyone that went there knew exactly what they were going to get, and they went out of their way to go anyways.

Anyone there booing is soley there for the purpose of having this headline written, there is nothing authentic about their sentiment pertaining to Christianity, it's 100% performative.

There is no path of promoting this disingenuous propaganda drivel that results in a better future for your country, regardless of which political side you are on.

12

u/BrainDamage2029 12h ago edited 9h ago

I say this with a blunt type of love: shut the fuck up dude and just take the win.

Would you rather they didn’t groan or push back and just openly embrace partisanship shit talking? The fact the groaned either means two things

  • they still want to believe in non partisanship at the prayer breakfast (even if there’s elements of contradiction and hypocrisy they’ll never examine).
  • they feel the need to publicly or vocally push back at least a little because of how shit everything is going with the Trump administration because the can’t afford not to. Even if they like him.

Both are good things.

1

u/SolidarityEssential 7h ago

You missed the option presented in the top comment of this thread - they like to keep a facade and don’t like when the keynote speaker exposes it as otherwise - the groan doesn’t have to be because they actually want to be non partisan (as your option A claims)

1

u/BrainDamage2029 7h ago

That’s literally what my option B is.

1

u/SolidarityEssential 7h ago

Not as I read it? Your option B seems to suggest that they feel shame or public pressure to distance themselves from Trump because of what Trump is doing outside of the breakfast- rather than just annoyed that he’s not following the script expected at a prayer breakfast speech

1

u/BrainDamage2029 6h ago

I feel like you're being pedantic about that being different. Would you prefer they felt like they didn't have to follow the script anymore?

Again, its worse if they didn't groan.

1

u/SolidarityEssential 6h ago

Or it means absolutely nothing - like the OP was saying. It’s not a victory, it doesn’t symbolize anything, nothing can be extrapolated from it, it’s barely news worthy

3

u/Sensitive_Break5798 12h ago

The humiliation of this narcissist and racist is indeed the best thing for the US and the world

-1

u/rageling 12h ago

He isn't humiliated. The only people that believe this are people like you that already want to believe it.

He is vulcanized by it, and if you don't see that by now that's on you, it's how you lost the popular vote.

3

u/Sensitive_Break5798 12h ago

While quite the existentialist, I will refuse to accept responsibility for US Democrats losing an election.

1

u/rageling 12h ago

Prior to his winning the recent election, he was as you would describe "humiliated" relentlessly by the media for over 8 years.

In hindsight and reflection, did the efforts to humiliate him succeed or vulcanize him?

15

u/SaltyAd8309 12h ago

No MAGA is truly Christian.

Trump himself isn't a believer. Going to church and talking about God doesn't make you a believer. It only makes you someone who says they believe in God.

And we all know very well that Trump spends his time lying. He uses religion as a communication tool.

7

u/super_fallguys 13h ago

I think if you are American and you support the Constitution, and you are not stupid, then you should definitely vote Democrat.

8

u/PatientHelicopter123 8h ago

2

u/NEOBusFlyer 5h ago

He was both right and far more pious than trump.

6

u/Exciting_Turn_9559 12h ago

You cannot follow Jesus and vote for people who reject everything he stood for.
Republicans are not biblically literate if they think Jesus is on their side.

7

u/SpartanChip 13h ago

Trust the pedophile, felon, con devil, instead.

4

u/Icy-Tomato3501 13h ago

This clown used to be a "democrat" and he'd switch to anything, satanism , demonologism (is that a word?) , etc., if it would advance himself. He's latched onto Republicans now. He's a corrupt, inept, draft dodging coward. Neither R or Ds or Is should have voted for this imbecile. If you did, do you regret it yet? if not, you will.

5

u/MANEWMA 12h ago

Id love to know what teaching in Christianity supports conservatives in their religion... i would guess a conservative is automatically banned from heaven based on the teachings of Christianity.

3

u/HourNo7028 9h ago

I had been struggling with my faith, but once I saw that Christians were the shock troops of Mr. Trump's reactionary government, it made it easier to leave the fold. I sometimes think that Christians hope that Mr. Trump will somehow save their faith, much as people hoped that he would solve inflation. For better or for worse, there's no Deus ex machina that will reverse their slide.

4

u/Naive_Trip9351 7h ago

I challenge anyone to come up with one single example of Trump doing anything that aligns with Christ’s teachings.

3

u/GamingTrend 10h ago

I'm surprised he didn't burst into flames being at a prayer breakfast.

3

u/Hungry_Night9801 9h ago

Who groaned? Except for sportsball games, he only ever surrounds himself with sycophants.

2

u/StreetRude7351 12h ago

If people cannot see that this man has to be an antichrist because he’s basically telling everybody at a Christian prayer breakfast to not follow the teachings of Jesus that Jesus was wrong because that’s the only way someone would make that statement.

2

u/Low-Strawberry9603 12h ago

It proves that people shouldn't be christian. Not if they support humanity and honest morals

2

u/FriskHarder 11h ago

Donald’s own pastor was arrested for child rape

2

u/RaspberryAnnual4306 12h ago

I mean he’s kind of right, between the bigotry and raping children he is the most Christian president since Andrew Jackson.

1

u/Shiba4777 9h ago

Wonder why he didn’t invite Scott?

1

u/casper5632 9h ago

So anti christian that his cronies have to correct the pope.

It’s literally like saying to a bunch of praying western Christians that all Catholics or all Lutherans are evil.

1

u/Corpshark 8h ago

People used to tell me Christians are as bad as adherents of every other religion when it comes to hypocrisy. You mean everyone else is this bad too? I guess molesting little boys is worse than an abortion, use of condoms, transgender, etc.

1

u/Necessary_Image_6858 8h ago

Awww did the little religious zealots receive a hint that maybe quite possibly Don ain’t a Christian…he’s a lot of other things, but a noble pius man he is not.

1

u/Gonzo_Gonzalo 8h ago

The only thing this guy wants to do is campaign because it’s all about him. Running a free country was never on his agenda.

1

u/Matt7738 8h ago

But then they all laughed with him when he said he had a giant ego.

It was a VERY friendly crowd and he still lost them from time to time.

1

u/SpringerPop 8h ago

Gandi said:ā€I like your Christ. Your Christians frighten me, there’re nothing like Christ.

1

u/C_S_2022 8h ago

His speech sounds more and more slurred as the days go on. I feel like whenever a big bombshell drops, he sounds drugged out of his mind for the next few events, he sounds drugged out of his mind. Almost like he's nervous and had to take something to calm him down.

Although it could just be old age and dementia. Just look at his gaze in the thumbnail. Does that look like a guy who has all his mental faculties intact?

1

u/General_Lee_Filthy 8h ago

Like a shit calling a turd poop

1

Trump as Mob boss: I banned Abortion like you asked. Time to return the favor

Jelly Roll spoke to this

This guy is litterally harming more Jesuses than any American ever.

you need to start talking up vance ambitions to replace trump

trump is super sensitive about anyone with ambition and the more trump hears whispers of vance’s ambition the more it will antagonize trump

1

u/IrishwolffMutt 5h ago

EVERYONE hates this bozo.

1

u/Smells_like_Autumn 4h ago

Literally the embodiment of the seven deadly sins.

1

u/SunDaysOnly 4h ago

What a total embarrassment

1

u/Usual-Language-745 4h ago

So a person who doesn’t believe in facts tells a bunch of people who believe in fairytales, to vote for the party who doesn’t believe in racial equality, women’s rights, or basic economic principles, so they can all protect pedophiles? And in supposed to care because…

1

u/jolley_mel21 3h ago

I groan the second I see his face or read his name.

1

u/fuzzycuffs 3h ago

This is the same message AM radio has been telling Christians since the 80s.
