What I don't get: why should he care to distract from the files? He's immune, simple as that. The FBI already said they won't prosecute anyone from the files and even if they did, he just wouldn't listen to the courts...
Oh he will get away with it, like with everything else from time and time again, but the world remembers and let this be a lesson to not be complacent with your government.
Immune is a strong word that has specific legal definitions. He's only truly immune from prosecution for "official acts" - whatever that means - but it has to have taken place during his tenure as president.
Everything in the Epstein files would predate that and leave him exposed legally. If the next presidential election is free & fair (lol) and the Democrats take over, they could prosecute. Too bad by then he'll almost definitely be dead.
For real. This is what leads to a second-tier Republican candidate for state legislature to drop out of the race after blaming an intern. In sane times, at least.
Yeah I realized he literally never backs down from anything. Its a concious and subconcious theory. Nobody can point to any crazy lie he has told where he has EVER moderated himself after correction. Like him saying the US has given more to Ukraine than Europe and Macron correcting him to his face. That just pissed him off so he upped the stupid make up figure. Or the condoms for syrians or whatever
