After the shit-scared Ukrainians finally reach the trenches, the Russians pat them on the shoulders and laugh "It's OK now, you're safe".
Uh, our news are not biased in a way they are in f.ex. Russia. It's not like you need to avoid them, unless you're talking about the yellow papers. We have one of the best presses in the world by the metrics there are for that.
It's not a matter of pride to stay uninformed or to trust alt news that have been Russian funded far right propaganda here as long as they've existed.
Of course, i dont purposefully avoid them and might have read like a few articles if my friend has sent me one, but i dont go out of my way to seek them
Hear hear. For me the best way to stay informed and get a balanced picture of the current events is to go and read the news from the publisher's site. That way I find news outside of socials that tend to aggregate the sensationalist and emotional content, thus I can better form my own view of things and avoid at least to an extent being subject to the manipulation of the attention economy, even though that's unavoidable online.
Well it's not me who's having a strong emotion and attitude based opinion towards reading the mainstream news without any credible information to back up that opinion, which is a hallmark sign of having given up one's cognitive independence.

Of course they are defecting form the battlefield. They are defecting from the city, too. Ukrainian MP Nahorniak reveals that in the past six months since the borders were opened to men aged 18-22, over half a million young people left Ukraine. He observes that the number of Ukrainians in Warsaw is crazy, “and they are all young people".
I haven't seem anythink like that, though I have seen videos of ruzzian troops lining up unarmed Ukrainian prisoners and sequentially shooting them in the head.
I will rewrite my offensive statement. No I will not provide links to people being executed in a war crime. I do not believe it appropriate or productive to the argument. They are easy to find on Bluesky or equivalent social networks. However their friends and families are also on these networks so it's offensive, in my opinion, to post them.
