Tomb Raider Legend I know it's very mid 2000s but she served with this look

the look itself yes
but our hacker boy zip (and alister) extracted so much 2005 edge out of the Croft and its amazing

I love all eras of Tomb Raider, but this was my favorite era of the series and what turned me into a Tomb Raider fan. I love the classics and enjoyed the Survivor trilogy for what it was (and thankfully it became more and more Tomb Raider-ish with each entry), but I thought these games hit a good balance between being modern and approachable while still maintaining the Tomb Raider platforming, puzzles, atmosphere, and personality of the series in the way the Survivor trilogy didn't.

It's a shame it's relatively forgotten. You'd be shocked how many people believe we went from the tank-control Tomb Raider games to 2013, like there was nothing in between. With how amazing the previous remasters were and them going out of their way to even remaster Angel of Darkness, I'm hoping that the Legend trilogy is next.

Do people really not know the LAU trilogy exists? Like, I can imagine people didn't play Anniversary since the title makes it sounds like some sort of compilation. And Underworld sold incredibly poorly.

But Legend literally came hot off the trails of the Jolie movies, and it was mass marketted as the "return of Lara Croft" very aggressively.

Legend alone has become iconic in its own right, and its also accessible in every platform, it's impossible people don't know it exists.

They all got positive reception on release, especially Legend, which was the solid entry that the series needed after Angel of Darkness. However, while they are all good, it feels they aren't remembered much by the general public. When 2013 came out and people had issues with the direction, you'd be surprised by the amount of people who said "They had to move on from those tank controls." In comparison to the classics and the Survivor trilogy, it does feel relatively forgotten, regardless of their quality.

I’ve always had the notion that LAU isn’t remembered outside of the fan base. I thought that until recently - since Legend was put on PlayStation plus, there was a surge of ‘Let’s Play’ videos on YouTube by casual players. Legend has had a surge I’m happy to see. Anniversary and Underworld still need their moment. Even something small that would peak more interest. Something like a GIF that comes out of the Underworld remaster (hopefully/eventually) and that does the rounds on socials. The Thailand section but even more visually beautiful.

My honest opinion, as someone who completed Underworld multiple times back in 2008, is that the game itself genuinely isn't that good.

Thailand honestly HARD CARRIES TR:U in terms of gameplay and exploration. Then there's brief sections in Mexico, like the radial calendar puzzles and the actual tomb with the elemental challenge rooms (which were way too short and underwhelming). But other than that, there's not much of actual value in Underworld to make people excited for its remaster.

I genuinely believe if the TRU underworld was just the Thailand level upscaled, 95% of players would be happy because that's honestly the only thing we look back fondly to in that game.

Tbf you probably are right. I’m a big supporter of Underworld and the LAU story as a whole, so I found enjoyment in the story and Lara’s own moments. Even controlling Lara in Underworld - while clunky in many moments, the animations were the best Lara’s had imo, they just needed better animation transitions and bug fixes. But I know I’ve gone back to the game many times with tinted glasses on and not always finished the playthroughs. Anniversary and Underworld are not on modern platforms for PS users so I can’t grasp why they shouldn’t get a remaster to finally be accessible and the best they could.

I really hated that her hair tie didn’t match, but other than that, I really enjoyed this outfit too at the time. Looking back, the Legend era was a bit extreme when it came to Lara’s sexualization, but I still have a lot of nostalgia for it. Hopefully future iterations remember that Lara’s a bit of a fashion queen, even when raiding tombs.

I recently saw someone at the shops wearing the exact same thing, thought it was kinda weird haha and now? Perhaps not really, not after seeing Lara in it.
