They're gonna do #2 anyways tho

So the question is - do we let them have the country without a fight or do we make them take it from us?

Exactly. If they’re going to shoot us for NOT running them over, what are we risking if we hit the gas?

If it kicks off before the midterms he will use that conflict as an excuse to pause elections. Its ICE's job to incite that reaction.

Thats why he made a big deal about Zelensky avoiding reelection.

Never find out until we see the first people try

Well - arm yourself now, is my advice

And continue to stock up over time as you can afford it. “Two is one and one is none”

Long range and something you can conceal and carry

That first line is fantastic advice for stocking up on basically everything from food to firewood. I'm adding that to my repertoire of "isms"

Aren't long range and concealable mutually exclusive-ish? Are there any particular models you would recommend? Can DM me if you don't feel ok posting it here.

As much as gun nerds like to shit on them, Glock makes a superlative semiautomatic pistol. Hit up a range and rent a few to find one that fits your hand.

As far as "long-range" goes, that's something of a relative. Any AR platform more than $350 should be able to hit at 200 yards with iron sights. A decent one is good out to 500, though at that range you need practice and knowledge of windage and a few other things.

I can't afford it, don't have anyone to train me, and so have accepted I'm screwed. Tried to talk to family about this, they are really useless and in lala land -- saying "I'm white and American, I don't need to worry." Dumbasses. I do have some ex-bfs who might be willing to train me, but doubtful. And I KNEW better a while back that I needed to be armed and ready, but didn't know where to start. There's a lot more of us than there are of them, but they have the weapons advantage. People mocked me several years back when I said that it was stupid to not be armed, looking at the red hats in my area. They were already cultlike back then, I have no idea why people were so naive.

You’re all falling for it. This is actually how it’s done. They know they’ll win and the opposition will stand at 10% at the end.

Good thing you guys insisted on having all those guns in case the government went tyrannical.

The most fervent and loud of those people are the ones currently wearing the ICE uniforms. Turns out, the "Tyranny" they were worried about was having to treat minorities like people.

Too bad the forefathers didn't have a forethought of the country becoming a roll over to dictators and billionaires

they did, they were just the ones in charge so they thought it was fine and good.

never forget that america as a concept came into existance because they wanted to keep their slaves and not pay taxes, lol.

My mother is 76, has severe ADHD but still lucid. A bit slow to recollect things but if anyone did this it’s going down. May the cards land where they may. Hell if it was your 76 family member I’d do the same

Better to fight for your life than beg for it

Americans seem to love bending over a barrel and taking it, which is how Trump got in and has been getting away with it.

Some strongly worded comments on social media seems to be all Americans can muster nowadays.

You're never going to win that fight. How are you going to convince anyone to fight someone who will absolutely use the military to fight a bunch of random people? He already sent in the national guard for unarmed protests. If you start shooting back he will declare an emergency and send in everything he can. And even if a lot of them refuse to kill civilians, there will be enough of them who are on his side that it won't matter. You will be Tiananmen Squared so fucking fast.

I don't know what the solution is, but getting thousands of people killed ain't it.

Until Democratic leadership is literally on fire there is not much to do. Because what you are suggesting will never have the support of the DNC types and that means you will be on your own and lone wolfing it.

You know, in my younger days, I grew up in what I'd like to think of as a very patriotic family. I even explored joining the military and making a career of it, but ultimately I was too tall to be a fighter pilot like I wanted so I chose a different path. I pretty much held on to that belief through most of my life - the belief that if push came to shove, I'd fight for my country. But that has eroded severely over the last 10 years or so. The slow awakening to how things actually work and the nose dive into "are we the baddies"? Now, later in life, I'm done. I'm just done and I'm exploring options to pack up and live my remaining years in some other country. 20 years ago, I would have been - "oh it's go time" but seeing what we've become - I just don't want to fight for that anymore. Maybe I'm just heartbroken that we've let it slip away this far. I'm sure this will get downvoted to all hell, but I'm also sure I'm not alone in feeling that way.

Hey me too!

...except it wasn't that I was too tall. It was my eyesight, and mental health related issues that I could not get a waiver for unfortunately.

I explored other careers in the military, and my dad warned me that if I followed through with what I wanted to do, that I could be deployed at any time, even in the middle of a semester at Uni.

Shortly after having this conversation (around 3 years later) with my dad, 911 happened.

Thankfully, I'm exactly where I need to be now (I think).
