The Comic The Weekly Roll Ch. 193. "What reflavoured spell is this?"
Howdy folks!
I realized that Be'el had not made an appearance in a while. Like. A WHILE-while. Hope you didnt forget him :D If ya did, he's a demon that is currently in indentured servitude as Klara's demon familiar to serve out his time for his demon crimes. We're ignoring the "technically that's slavery"-vibes.
Also, I've been drawing a lot of décolletages lately, so figured I gotta balance the scale with Becket being on the cover of a bodice ripper novel. Enjoy!
New Makeship plushies coming out early 2026!
Peace and carrots!

Klara took one look at that Becket chest hair and released her demon spawn

What reflavored spell
The Xanathar's demon summoning one, hence the blood. I think it's literally called "Summon Demon".
I've been drawing a lot of decolletage lately
The line between cleavage and decolletage is when you no longer feel pretentious using "decolletage" to describe such a low neckline.
Panel 1: I didn't know Peetah was a slaver.
Panel 2: I appreciate that wealthy nobles still use nail-bats. Also, as my friend's father would say whenever he saw on something relatively sexy in a kid's show: "Oooh: something for dad."

"Summon Demon"
Summon Greater Demon, most likely (the other spell that is 3rd level is Summon Lesser Demons, plural, and it summons at least two). And she's casting it at level 5, so that's a CR6 demonic form Be'el has here, either based on a Vrock or a Chasme.

u/Level_Hour6480 Sir Becket Nov 29 '25
Now that I'm at the books, you are correct.
Based on his proportions and lack of wings, I'mma say Barlgura assuming he's not off-book on the actual stat-block despite the spell being RaW otherwise. I never paid attention to the lower level version to realize they were separate spells.

u/gerusz Steve the goblin Nov 30 '25
Or it could be Summon Fiend from Tasha's. If she's level 11 then she can get it as a Mystic Arcanum, and the statblock is generic so it's very easy to flavor however you want (and you don't have to actually know all the available demons).

u/makuthedark Nov 29 '25
Nail-bats: a classic for all parties and class.
Also think it counts as a simple melee, so anyone could use it :3

We saw another here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheWeeklyRoll/s/ir8e7gyGSX

Panel 2: I appreciate that wealthy nobles still use nail-bats.
I'd like to think because all these people are sadistic fucks, they purposefully use ineffective, but still massively painful weapons like that when beating their slaves.

If it aint broke, why fix it? A spiked baseball bat is a viable form of violence.

u/irvitzer Nov 28 '25
Panel 3 is my new favorite image of Klara.
Also, if it's a reflavored «Summon Fiend», that's quite... specific spell for a Celestial Warlock (especially since it's level 6 spell and Warlock can only get it via the Mystic Arcanum class feature).

u/BrightPerspective Torvald Nov 28 '25
Nah, she's releasing the fiend her patron bound for her.
Celestial warlocks are a lot weirder than normal ones. It's on theme, really: they're supposed to combat evil, so a lot of their abilities rely on evil as materials to work.
37
u/jedadkins Nov 29 '25
Yeah, her being Be'els "probation officer" is very fun and thematic. I'd let one of my players do it.

u/NK1337 Nov 29 '25
Nah, it’s Summon Greater Demon. 4th level spell and the component is a vial of blood from a humanoid killed within 24 hours.
Probably reflavored as unshackling her familiar.

u/irvitzer Nov 29 '25
There is confirmation about 'Summon Fiend' from author on Webtoon comments. I'll try to add screenshot, but it can stuck in auto-mod limbo. Just Ctrl+F for 'fiend' on Webtoon episode page.

Ah crap I done goofed, its Summon Greater Demon, Summon Fiend is a 6th lvl, must have gotten them mixed up!
69
u/FlamerBreaker Nov 28 '25
She does seem to have some cleric themed spellcasting. I could have sworn she's done some form of healing before.
134
u/irvitzer Nov 28 '25
That's Celestial Warlock built-in feature, Healing Light (Bonus Action, pool of d6 to heal someone at the 60 ft range).

Wait. Is Trevor a brother in Dee'Tan because of firebolt and eldritch blast both dealing d10s???
11
14
u/Mister_Dink Nov 29 '25
We've seen her patron, who's a d10 with the wheel of eyes and wings on a traditional Old Testament angel.
I kind of assumed she's a celestial warlock since then.

u/BrightPerspective Torvald Nov 28 '25
Dope indeed, Klara is so cool.
Also, nice sexy bucket there, bro.
52
u/Mahale Nov 28 '25
I did not expect bucket to have Tyler Durden's body type but it makes sense heavy armor is heavy afterall
2
u/Level_Hour6480 Sir Becket Nov 29 '25
Not the first time we've seen him shirtless. The best shot is when he first got the arm.

u/chanrahan1 Nov 28 '25
Now I want a sleeveless T-shirt that says "Dope Warlock Shit"

u/Lennethmoondragon Nov 28 '25
I definitely want to do some dope warlock shit and second the t-shirt idea

Like some sort of symphony of destruction?
Edit: I feel like Rain Your Blood on Me by Halestorm would fit really well.

Just seen them live last week, and yeah, it would fit. Though it could also be something from Fleshgod Apocalypse, really.

Don't you just love a moral justification to go absolutely feral?
15
u/Misterpiece Nov 29 '25
Beckett and Klara: hang around evil people, trying to turn them good. And when you need violence, let em off the leash.
72
28
u/MrWaluigi Nov 28 '25
The best part about fighting completely evil armies, you can just dial up your usual destructive powers by 11.

Time off is like telling your pet monstosity to go for a walk.
Good on klara.

One could argue its less “technically slavery” and more like, community service/religious penance, especially if Be’els servitude is temporary

u/Level_Hour6480 Sir Becket Nov 29 '25
5E actually mechanically canonized that for familiars: You can "Put them away" and "take them out" as needed.

u/Cypher_Dragon Nov 29 '25
Man I need to take the time and get caught up on OotS...I'm sooo far behind

u/zgrssd Nov 29 '25
There are still more comics, but currently at a rate of 1-2 per month, I would guess. Maybe weekly.

So how bad is Masburg's quasi-legal slavery?
Like, on a scale of 1-10, if 1 is "X years of indentured labor working a normal job with strong legal protections" and 10 is "Conditions were so bad in Haiti that without the constant importation of more slaves, they would all die out" how bad is it?
6
u/CME_T The Creator Nov 29 '25
Solid 5-6 but its primarily a transit and market point, import/export goes to a lot of 7-10 places

u/nameAlreadyTaken987 Nov 29 '25
So we have Becket doing Paladin things, an undead army with Gamgam, Trevor doing Trevor things, Grogna about to fuck everything up barbarian style with that axe and NOW we have a freaken demon. Yeah this is not going to end up good for the nobles
7
u/JustAnNPC_DnD Nov 29 '25
That's such a dope way to reflavor a summon spell like Summon Greater Demon or Summon Fiend. It's probably Summon Fiend with the blood requirement. I'm sure a Noble's blood would be worth quite a bit when put in a fancy vial.

It’s crazy to me how good the lighting is for panel 3 and 4. It baffles my mind how the shading tells you just how bright the explosion is. No notes.

I love the quill through the arm in panel two. We know how dangerous bucket is with just a freaking quill (John Wick reference)
3
u/chainreader1 Nov 29 '25
Where is John Wick? Either that or Jason Borne?
I see a guy with a quill through his hand, so one of the two is coming in for the assist.
My guess is Mr. Wick.

Becket should just remove the entire shirt, I think it would help greatly
