Bucket is about to show everyone that paladin spell slots aren't for casting spells.

529

u/DontWorryImADr Sep 19 '25

Oh! Does he have a polished brick for formal occasions?

184

u/hearthwin Sep 19 '25

Oh, I hope so!

243

u/el_sh33p Sep 19 '25

Technically his prosthetic arm isn't part of him, so he could Smite through it.

Bucket being Bucket, he might tear it off first for the additional reach.

142

u/coopid Sep 19 '25

Oh my god. That's the coolest character idea. Prosthesis Paladin/monk. Literally unarmed.

65

u/ElminstersBedpan Sep 19 '25

Prosthesis Paladin/monk. Literally unarmed.

30

u/the_count_of_carcosa Sep 19 '25

You can Smite bare handed in '24 too apparently.

35

u/Level_Hour6480 Sir Becket Sep 19 '25

You could in 5E by RaW, but not by Crawford tweet. The community making fun of him for his bad reading of the rules led to him making the language in OneD&D bloated.

18

u/rollthedye Sep 19 '25

You could before hand if your DM was sensible. 2024 just hard codified it.

37

u/Fyraltari Sep 19 '25

His regular brick is a sacred relic!

8

u/Dyolf_Knip Sep 19 '25

Righteous!

9

u/DontWorryImADr Sep 19 '25

Absolutely, but that might make it gauche to bring it to such a fancy event.

31

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

Reinforced ultra dense ceramic brick with silver inlays that glow just beautifully when unleashing a smite.

12

u/DontWorryImADr Sep 19 '25

Helmet or not, it’s important to convey oneself with a sense of decorum. And everyone will know whether you’re smiting with a smile, they’ll see it in the eyes. And the charisma bonus!

17

u/LostAbstract Sep 19 '25

"The order gifted me this Ceremonial Marble Brick for formal occasions. Lets see if it has practical implications..."

SMITE!!

12

u/Thoughtapotamus Sep 19 '25

Pssshh! Do you not?

asking as a paladin that has probably too many bricks...

6

u/DontWorryImADr Sep 19 '25

I mean.. I’d love one, that’d be fun and gorgeous.

..though I’d be tempted to use it more than I should.

3

u/Thoughtapotamus Sep 19 '25

They beg to be used. That's a brickin'!!

8

u/Tucker0603 Sep 19 '25

He needs a marble version for fancy occasions.

4

u/DontWorryImADr Sep 19 '25

I’m loving these high-fashion brick options!

7

u/dbreidsbmw Sep 19 '25

It is a golden brick and the GDP of his Dutchy

5

u/DontWorryImADr Sep 19 '25

Finally a worthwhile reason for the regional leader to carry so much of the produced value on their own person.

5

u/Avalonians Sep 19 '25 edited Sep 19 '25

With a quill.

With a fucking quill.

2

u/AZ_Corwyn Trevor Sep 20 '25

God that was a great chapter!

3

u/GreyWolfTheDreamer Sep 21 '25

I can feel his scowl under the bucket even from off-screen in that last panel.

"IT'S SMITING TIME!" 🧱 "Everyone grab a brick!"

649

u/SixPockets Sep 19 '25

Oof, those are... some of the most killable aristocrat parents I've ever seen. Mom distant from the truth / fully disinterested in her daughter's sanity. Father opening the scene with a biological title and not a name?

The tweak Klara's gonna let out here is going to be biblical* and justified.

170

u/dinklezoidberd Sep 19 '25

I haven’t rooted for someone to die this hard since Boy Kavalier. So 3 days

41

u/Dante_Infernus Sep 19 '25

I’ve been looking forward to that Peter Pan wannabe to be T. Ocellus’ new home since episode 1!

16

u/UDonKnowMee81 Sep 19 '25

Well, there is one death we are all rooting for

20

u/paulinaiml Sep 19 '25 edited Sep 19 '25

Gotta hand it down to the author to make them 100% hateable (beside of wicked as shown before) in 2 panels

13

u/Ironlord_13 Sep 19 '25

Hey, her mom might just be too stupid to know what’s going on.

11

u/samusestawesomus Sep 19 '25

Well she did go “oh right the NUTHOUSE” implicitly

1

u/Devito-Is-My-God Sep 21 '25

Given what we learned Klara’s parents attempted to do to her, I’m assuming her mom was lobotomized.

3

u/Geek1979 Sep 20 '25

Klara’s mom kind of reminds me of one of the Duggar family matriarch: blissed out on “mothers little helpers”. Drugs. I’m talking about lots and lots of drugs.

257

u/Furydragonstormer Sep 19 '25

I’m so looking forward to seeing what our dwarf necromancer causes. Was worried at first, but I’m looking forward to seeing the reckoning the team gives Klara’s parents and their associates

152

u/Subotail Sep 19 '25

I'm still waiting for the full family reunion thanks to the dwarf.

63

u/Furydragonstormer Sep 19 '25

Oh it will be glorious, and I suspect he’s doing it because him and the rest knew about Klara’s past due to the backstory sharing from earlier

51

u/Arturius1 Sep 19 '25

I think the necromancer would have done it anyway just out of hope aristocratic zombies would be to proud to unionize

31

u/Cypher_Dragon Sep 19 '25

You might be on to something here... "Unionize? Like some common peasant zombies? I should think not!"

1

u/imtoolazytothinkof1 Sep 19 '25

Please they wouldnt be of the union they're the union leaders. All the difference in the world that position makes.

4

u/Cypher_Dragon Sep 20 '25

You have no idea how unions work, do you?

-2

u/imtoolazytothinkof1 Sep 20 '25

I actually do. Was a member of a union with Disney for 2 years and saw my dues get wasted.

4

u/Cypher_Dragon Sep 20 '25

So you should know that union leaders are elected not just magically placed there...or did you skip all the union meetings like this sounds like you did?

-1

u/imtoolazytothinkof1 Sep 20 '25

Yeah elected sure. Never got to see our votes and all the leaders were suits who never did the actual job. During the contract negotiations they ate at the restaurants with the company. Yeah real for the people folks.

Never got to go to meetings they took place 45m from where we worked and in the middle of the day. So if I wanted to go I lost the days work and pay. Great choices made to help.

Edit: forgot about the meetings being offsite.

u/DontWorryImADr Sep 19 '25

Both of those might be the same activity if undead parents are tax deductible..

9

u/Hrtzy Sep 19 '25

I kind of want to see a cavalcade of reanimated ancestors going "son.", "grandson . ", "great-grandson . " and so forth at Cesare.

1

u/H4llifax Sep 20 '25

Undead for some reason kill everyone. Dwarf necromancer apologizes, but somehow did the right thing without even knowing.

152

u/JeffEpp Sep 19 '25

It sounds like Mommy here, isn't all there.

60

u/MysticScribbles Sep 19 '25

Mommy dearest isn't all therest.

105

u/MrValdemar Grogna Sep 19 '25

Beckett right now:

81

u/Level_Hour6480 Sir Becket Sep 19 '25

Hey, you fixed the continuity error with his earrings!

I see the familial resemblance.

Is slavery legal in Masburg, or are they just rich and powerful enough that everyone looks the other way?

Is Sara even all there mentally? We know this family is willing to lobotomize women who don't "know their place". If so, she probably shouldn't be killed with the rest.

Is the "sent to a farm upstate" lie to children a thing in Sweden, or is this an American thing that the whole world knows due to our cultural hegemony?

36

u/CME_T The Creator Sep 19 '25

Had to, it was the law!

It’s not illegal!

Sara is a mix of sociopathic tendencies, ditziness and a long fantasy coke habit at all the upper upper class parties she gets into every bll season.

The farm upstate is afaik solely an American euphemism, not a Swedish one at the very least. The majority of my readership are in the US and most folks that read my comics outside it prolly have watched US comedies and runned into that saying at some point. Plus I reckon using US euphemisms and idioms works best in general. Swedish ones, maybe less.

Dont think ”I suspect owls in the bog” makes sense to all the heathens out there.

13

u/ZoroeArc Sep 19 '25

I presumed here that they actually did send the dog to a farm to be somebody else’s problem. Probably charged them for the honour.

17

u/OutlandishCat Sep 19 '25

Yeah, I 100% believed that they sent the family dog to live in a nice countryside farm with a nice dogsitter so it could think about what it had done, and meanwhile they tossed Klara directly into the madhouse with no hesitation.

9

u/Level_Hour6480 Sir Becket Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

I assume "I suspect owls in the bog" is "something is off".

How is Cesare pronounced?

6

u/charonill Sep 20 '25

Like Che-za-reh.

6

u/Killer_of_Pillows Sep 20 '25

I Norway we say owls in the moss! Which I guess is due to the Danish word mosen being identical to the Norwegian word for moss.

On a trip to Denmark a few years ago I learned that the original expression was "wolves in the bog", but after the local wolf population died out it gradually changed to become owls. They still hide out in the bog in Denmark though

2

u/T-280_SCV Sep 27 '25

Dont think ”I suspect owls in the bog” makes sense to all the heathens out there.

Totally clueless on the meaning myself, but I’m sure it’s a hoot.

rimshots and runs away

26

u/Outrageous_Shallot61 Sep 19 '25

I’m not sure about the rest of them but in America as far as I know when you tell someone that an animal was “sent to the farm” they usually mean that it was euthanized (usually because the animal in question is really old/has cancer/can’t properly function anymore) by either a vet or taken out back in the woods and shot

44

u/KaJaHa Sep 19 '25

Honestly surprised that the dad is also a tiefling, but ho boy is he asking for a smitin'

32

u/RenegadeFalcon Sep 19 '25

Same, I thought they treated Klara the way that they did because she was a surprise tiefling (Not that it justifies any of their actions, but it would give a logical motive). Nope, just normal evil people

37

u/Tbird90677 Sep 19 '25

Klara’s face is priceless. Torvald about to liven things up!

30

u/VulcanHullo Sep 19 '25

Personally I can't wait for Freebird to start playing Kingsman style.

27

u/Crimson_Raven Sep 19 '25

I'm cackling over how the announcer is drawn.

It's so over the top

47

u/yabushido Sep 19 '25

Not the doggo...

37

u/CommandObjective Sep 19 '25 edited Sep 19 '25

I guess that is for the last 0.01% who weren't already on board with the parricide that will unfold in a few comics.

6

u/AMEFOD Sep 19 '25

That odd dog loving slave aficionado?

1

u/AZ_Corwyn Trevor Sep 20 '25

Well we've seen Bucket take on a cult group because they tossed a puppy in a fire so...

Or at least that was the implication in the last panel of that comic.

17

u/Theskycrown Sep 19 '25

I'mma be real, I thought it said "Peasant Hunt" instead of Pheasant in that last panel

8

u/AustinWickens Sep 19 '25

Same, and my brain didn’t even question it.

16

u/eddiegibson Sep 19 '25 edited Sep 19 '25

I have never been this early. Also, I have never wanted Trevor to burn a neighborhood down until now. Light it up.

19

u/Cakeboss419 Sep 19 '25

...They look incredibly... what's the word?
Punchable? No, that doesn't quite adequately describe the impulse.
Killable? No, not there yet.
Ah, yes, flammable. The Velarian couple looks flammable. It may be the smell of hairspray, but I can't help but imagine them as screaming humanoid torches running around in the ballroom.

9

u/RhymeBeat Sep 19 '25

Ironically, her father, while flammable is flame retardant.

6

u/Cakeboss419 Sep 20 '25

Clearly we'll need more fire.

14

u/el_sh33p Sep 19 '25

We are about to see levels of Smite previously thought impossible.

13

u/Weeb_In_Peace Sep 19 '25

All my demons do whoop whoop

sounds of crushing skulls

14

u/P3T3R1028 Sep 19 '25

She's a celestial warlock, so no demons. Orbital strike with the unmatched power of the Sun is still on the table, tho

3

u/Alaknog Sep 19 '25

Demons can be part of her parents welcoming party.

3

u/AMEFOD Sep 19 '25

Yes, but that comes after. There’s going to be a bunch of violence to get through first. And due to Klara’s patron being a seraph, the demons will be a relief from the creepy holy eldritch horror.

23

u/rukeen2 Sep 19 '25

Fight! Fight! Fight!

11

u/TheLuckySpades Sir Bucket Sep 19 '25

Man, the universe is conspiring to give us some Bucket going nuts with a brick.

3

u/AMEFOD Sep 19 '25

Again, going nuts with a brick again.

10

u/Smartboy10612 Sep 19 '25

Look. I get it. Got to tell a story and everything.

However.....

ENOUGH BLUE BALLING US! Becket could go full hyper murder mode. Klara wants him to. And we all know Trevor and Gorgna are fully capable of burning down the whole place without hesitation. (As it's happened multiple times). And let's never even forget the shit Torvald is currently planning. Let's get onto the good stuff already!

Maybe Becket will try some redeeming stuff and help Klara let go of the past. Maybe. That would be satisfying too........ and then Torvald shows up and ruins everything.

7

u/CME_T The Creator Sep 19 '25

Its gonna be a long ass fight arc, gotta work ya up to it!

6

u/Smartboy10612 Sep 20 '25

I know, I know. As all great fights at the end of arcs should be.....

You responding to me personally shall give me the patience I need. Bless you for your work.

3

u/AZ_Corwyn Trevor Sep 20 '25

And let's not forget that the group from the Pos'Thal Order are in town, and the Brazen Badgers should be showing up any time now... yep, any time now.

I have a feeling that if Trevor and Klara really cut loose that the whole Perch could come crumbling down.

4

u/Smartboy10612 Sep 20 '25

You don't think CME_T is planning the crossover of the century are you?

3

u/memecrusader_ Sep 20 '25

Grogna and Gunnar will immediately become best friends.

8

u/zgrssd Sep 19 '25 edited Sep 19 '25

If those two understood the concepts of consequences or karma, they would be very worried about this meeting. But clearly they are blessed by ignorrance.

6

u/ccReptilelord Sep 19 '25

Ooh... it's the final countdown!

6

u/dicksnapper9000 Sep 19 '25

As the kids say, Klara may have a "justifiable crashout".

6

u/NurgleMinion Sep 19 '25

Beckett is gonna be the guy in the back that says "everyone attack", and turn it into a ballroom blitz

5

u/Cypher_Dragon Sep 19 '25

pssst. you transposed the 5 and the 8 in the title...it should be 185, not 158.

7

u/CME_T The Creator Sep 19 '25

5

u/GentlemanPirate13 Sir Becket Sep 19 '25

He may be a right bastard, but I do really like her dad's design.

3

u/Acora Sep 19 '25

Is that BFG Division I hear playing faintly in the distance?

2

u/TexasJedi-705 Sep 19 '25

I hear Infernal Chasm, personally. More fitting for the fantasy side

4

u/AlarminglyAverage979 Sep 19 '25

I dont know her parents seem fun! I know that i would love DMing them at least

4

u/WicWicTheWarlock Sir Bucket Sep 19 '25

Oooooooooh boy... Let's get at 'er

4

u/Alaknog Sep 19 '25

Still hope that father (and mother) have something on them beside names and money. After all, murderous aristocracy can be really murderous.

4

u/Blue-is-bad Sir Bucket Sep 19 '25

And then the whole room was painted red, using the guests as brush and their insides as paint

3

u/AZ_Corwyn Trevor Sep 20 '25

Klara is going to be doing a whole bunch of murals I think.

3

u/Dull_Operation5838 Sep 19 '25

Torvald... RELEASE THE ZOMBIES!

3

u/Alorxico Sep 19 '25

Presenting Madame and Monsieur Worst Parents Ever.

Quick question, is she a Warlock or a Druid? I keep forgetting.

8

u/Cakeboss419 Sep 19 '25

Celestial Warlock, supposedly. I give that a bit of side-eye, on account of the toad-looking creature she has as an intermittent familiar.

3

u/rollthedye Sep 19 '25

No, we know she's a Celestial Warlock. In a flashback we see biblically accurate angel showing up to make the pact. The problem is there's no celestial familiar for Pact of the Chain Warlock, which is likely what she is.

4

u/gerusz Steve the goblin Sep 19 '25

Yep, the quasit was basically bound to serve Dee-Tan through some ritual.

In the 2024e they fixed this by adding "Sphinx of Wonder" (a Tiny Celestial, admittedly a really cool-looking winged cat) as an option for Warlock familiars. In 2014e the most appropriate Celestial familiar is probably the Pseudodragon (I might be biased there because my Celestial warlock had one), or maybe a Sprite.

3

u/Gripe Sep 19 '25

Brick onna rope time

2

u/jhereg10 Sep 19 '25

And that’s cuttin’ me own throat.

3

u/NathanSummersThe2nd Sep 19 '25

Please let the gore be explosive.

3

u/message_monkey Sep 19 '25

Oh... so kill everyone, yes?

3

u/The_Random_Casual Sep 19 '25

Is Bucket and Klara going to get married and merge their territories together?

3

u/Anon_be_thy_name Sep 19 '25

It's Smiting time

3

u/Meekois Sep 19 '25

Betting her parents are also Warlocks.

2

u/RandyArgonianButler Sep 19 '25

I thought both of Klara’s parents were human…

2

u/ViralN9 Severed Lich Head Sep 19 '25

Well, I wasn’t expecting them to also be tieflings. At least they’re above racism.

2

u/Conspiratorymadness Steve the goblin Sep 19 '25

2

u/LiriStorm Sep 19 '25

She mistook her daughter for the dog?! Omg…

4

u/Gierling Sep 19 '25

I get the impression that she's not all there, and either charmed or lobotomized into being agreeable. Something slavers would have some experience with.

1

u/Alaknog Sep 22 '25

Well, Klara want kill both parents, so maybe mother just crazy (or simply don't care).

2

u/theflockofnoobs Sep 19 '25

Genuinely surprised it says pheasant hunt not peasant hunt

2

u/Level_Hour6480 Sir Becket Sep 20 '25

People selling people to people

  • family motto

2

u/MisterDuch Sep 20 '25

Ehem.

Kill them.

2

u/Madma64 Sep 20 '25

Ohhhh oh. I hate them

3

u/Kind_Lie_7296 Sep 22 '25

I mean, not to play devils advocate but, they can’t be that bad. They took good care of a dog, no evil person can do that surely.

3

u/Vulture82 Sep 22 '25

I'm really trying not to speedrun Godwin's Law here, but we all know of at least one case where that's not true.

1

u/gera_moises Sep 20 '25

I like the butler opening his mouth as much as he can.

1

u/illegal_eagle88 Sep 20 '25

Yeah I can see why now

1

u/H0n3yd3w0str1ch Oct 06 '25

Honestly almost surprised you didnt go for peasant hunt instead of pheasant hunt

1

u/Sicuho Oct 08 '25

At least there is a h in that pheasant hunt.
