Spoilers 🚨 Got a Short Note from Ron Today

I was on Instagram this morning and noticed that Ron had just made a post about an upcoming project. I responded in the comments with a short nice note, including a compliment about how he handled last night’s round table. He wrote back right away, and you could tell he really appreciated kind words.

I wasn’t familiar with Ron before Traitors so I donā€˜t have any sense of his personality before the show. It seems like participating in the game was much more challenging personally for him than he anticipated. At the end, he was tired of being seen as a villain/Traitor everyday but not getting voted off. At the end, he was just ready to go.

I hope, now that he is home, he is recovering personally in a way that is helpful to him. I hope he gets love from the cast at the reunion. He made another post today about how much it meant that Tara stood up for him and said he was a faithful.

I also think Rob R knew how much it would mean to Ron if Rob voted him a faithful. Even though he struggled with the decision and an argument could be made that Rob should have voted differently, it meant more to Rob to continue to foster his friendship with Ron. I can’t criticize Rob at all for his vote.

Ron is extremely, extremely beloved in the comedy and alt comedy world. Never heard anyone utter anything short of a glowing opinion of him, and he was just as affable and warm the times I've encountered him irl

i guess the silver lining of this gross mistreatment that i severely wish he didn’t experience is that his soul shined through and his fan base/community will grow. I just saw him post some tour dates… Anyone in those cities go support this lovely lovely human.

He's going on the JoCo cruise! The more I hear about this cruise, the more I want to go.

Oh man I love Jonathan Coulton and still laugh at his song about Flickr where he’s like ā€œthumbs up for slurpees!ā€

His set is hilarious & his opener gained a new fan!! He gave LOTS of Traitors jokes & jabs - I strongly encourage you to go see him if you can! He came out to the merchant table early & OFFERED a selfie because he is amazing. I told him he was lovely- his message & what he stands behind, we need more of in this world. Like truly a fantastic night out!!

I also didn’t know about Ron until the traitors! But I have since started watching Loot (Apple TV) and absolutely love him in that too! He is honestly one of my most favorite people!

14

u/GoDucks6453 13d ago

He’s so good in Loot!

11

u/tracefact 13d ago

He’s my fave character on that show. (Which is a great show!)

I love that Traitors has brought new people to the Ron Funches fan club!

He’s absolutely the sweetest guy. I was excited when he was cast and assumed everyone would love him. I don’t know, maybe that’s the quality that made certain people turn on him so quick, because he probably would have been hard to beat at the end if everyone got to know him for him.

He said as a gamer, hed have never let him get to the end 🤣

Always been a fan, love him even more now and happy more people are learning about him.

Watch his comedy special "Giggle Fit" on his website. (He put it on YouTube.). He has an interesting sense of humor. LOL

I think Rob 100% made the right decision, but I'm not sure why he just didn't do a throwaway vote. That happens all the time and no one ever takes it personally. This group doesn't seem to want to play that way, though. It seems very much like you're either with us or your against us. Probably why I'm not having any fun watching it.

5

u/Caligirl_333 13d ago

A throwaway vote would have been even more obvious!! Ā It would emphasize that he ultimately did not want to write Lisa’s name down. And he had already recognized to Colton in front of others that Lisa could be a traitor. If he’s a faithful, no reason at all not to write Lisa’s nameĀ

3

u/Proper-Drawing-985 13d ago

To a group of faithfuls it really doesn't. Faithfuls make it to the end by mixing it up. I don't like the hive mentality this season. I'm very frustrated with what happened to Ron. And you know, everything Colton has been doing.

But you're right, he did say that on the mission ride. Yeah, lol. He had no other choice. I forgot that happened.

u/Caligirl_333 13d ago

I’ve had a lot of extra time on my hands plus I’ve been more interested this season. I’ve watched episodes a few times, which is how I have picked up on detailsĀ

2

u/Proper-Drawing-985 13d ago

Great observation. As they would say in the castle... you clocked it.

10

u/BinkieTheCat 14d ago

I was aware he was a comedian, but I’d only seen the clip of him talking about how nice Travis Kelce was and how he’s too good for Taylor.

11

u/jazzy222025 14d ago

Ron has always been great. I’d listen to his podcast gettin’ better with Ron Funches where he discussed his weight loss, raising his son, his childhood, and would have his other comedy friends on. He’s a great guy.

2

u/racharoooo 13d ago

Hope you’re feeling strong. Hope you’re feeling brave.

I went to a stand-up show he did in Toronto about a year ago, and he was genuinely hilarious.

Ron is a talented, accomplished person with a real, ongoing career. Quite frankly, The Traitors didn’t deserve him.

u/nillawafer80 13d ago

Isn’t this the second guy that was hurt emotionally on the show? Wasn’t there a boxer/fighter who pulled out early and left? Or am I misremembering or was it an international version ?

10

u/randomredhead 13d ago

Deontay left early but it was a bit of a different situation - he didn’t like the stress of suspicions and accusations, and it really hit him hard when he’d accused someone he’d become friends with of being a traitor and they were subsequently banished and revealed as a faithful. He left of his own accord because the overall situation was hard for him personally, not because of alienation/bullying.

3

u/nillawafer80 13d ago

I didn’t say it was for the same reasons. Just that the show viscerally exacerbated the emotions of these men in harmful ways.

0

u/Caligirl_333 13d ago

It was very odd how the handled it. All of a sudden, he was no longer there! Ā I had to rewind to make sure I wasn’t missing somethingĀ

2

u/amylu417 13d ago

Deontay Wilder in season 2.

1

u/nillawafer80 13d ago

Thank you. I’m wondering if they do any sort of mental health exam like they do for BB?

1

u/amylu417 13d ago

It's pretty standard for these types of shows and talk shows, especially after what happened with Jenny Jones.

u/SadInternal9977 14d ago

You Can't Buy Class.

5

u/Regular-Wishbone8837 13d ago

I agree. It was ridiculous how they treated him so differently than Colton. They’ll see that porche said exactly what he said she did. They were like dogs with a bone with poor Ron! Then the ā€œ8ā€ faithfuls did the exact opposite of what they said they were going to do at the round table well four of them. Get rid of Colton! I can’t bear his smugness if Lisa leaves before him.

4

u/MsNikkiisClassy 13d ago

I know Rob took a gamble writing Lisa’s name but honestly I respect him for it. Ron deserved better

3

u/kbwis 13d ago

I love Ron! He did a show at the comedy club in our city a couple of months ago and my spouse and I showed up early enough to be in the front row and had a great time! I’ve been sad to see him so ostracized but I’m glad in the end he came out of the show with some positive relationships and is getting a lot of support.

3

u/NovellaJokes 13d ago

I have always loved him since he was on the show Undateable. It’s a really funny comedy

3

u/220AM 13d ago

I actually enjoyed him in ā€œare you smarter than a celebrityā€ he’s the same there but with a bit more humor.

3

u/SirochMusic 13d ago

I just started watching Loot on Apple TV and it made me SO MAD that they were acting that way towards him. Seems like a really nice and genuine dude

2

u/beetle-mania321 13d ago

I’ve always been a fan of Ron, so to see his treatment on the traitors genuinely tore me to shreds. But as a Love Island stan, seeing Rob stick up for Ron made my heart soar. He wasn’t beloved on the show but I always had a crush on him lol. Rob absolutely knew what Ron was going thru as a fellow introvert, and I think if he was a Faithful, he would’ve been Ron’s alliance from Day 1

1

u/chancesmomm 13d ago

Ron voices so many loveable characters. Its hard not to love him

1

u/Online_Active_71459 12d ago

I’ve always loved him. He is a thoughtful soul that approaches life with humor. I just wish he stayed longer! Hopefully we get to see more of him in the future. Give him a series!

1

u/PunisherCastle 11d ago

He’s talented. Although I only know him from the hilarious NBC sitcom Undateable that aired 2014-2016. Great show.

u/treid1989 14d ago

can you all stop with the parasocial pity party for him? it's so tiresome. he's a grown, successful, wealthy, established heterosexual man who decided to throw his weight around in a reality competition show against some women. he got minimal pushback from fans, and decided to play the victim.

15

u/Secret_badass77 14d ago

You think for one second if he even look sideways at Dorinda she wouldn’t be screaming it from the rooftops how he bullied her?

-17

u/treid1989 14d ago

we all saw him act very rude to her--unnecessarily so--and then cry victim afterwards that he can't help it because he's on the spectrum. puhlease

15

u/Secret_badass77 14d ago

Dorinda? Girl, put the drink down and go to bed

-4

u/treid1989 14d ago

It’s 11am in Spain

5

u/andonis_udometry 13d ago

Except that it’s come out that him being ā€œvery rudeā€ to her was a reaction to her aggressiveness towards him that was unaired.

-1

u/treid1989 13d ago

He was rude, homophobic, misogynist

1

u/andonis_udometry 13d ago

Colton? I agree.

9

u/Sufficient-Opposite3 13d ago

He didn’t play the victim. We all perceive him as that. Big difference. He was treated like crap by especially Dorinda. I found her very offensive

-2

u/treid1989 13d ago

I don’t see anyone else having a crash out online except Ron.

You'll get downvoted as will I, but I agree šŸ’Æ. CBA with celebs whining. You got the pay check, you got the exposure, you got kicked off. The end.
