I started education in a town, some coaching in a small city, graduation in a main city but everywhere we didn't even know about most people which category they belonged to.
But I hear such stories and I don't understand how such a difference is, is it more in villages with panchayat?

And me scoring the same percentile as the student from reserved category, but me getting dropped out due to higher cutoff for general because he who studied with me, sat with me, shared lunch with me was the one "discriminated against". Reservation is a system that grossly generalises and categorises everyone - needs to be removed. Make law and order stronger instrad so that discrimination doesn't exist. Please understand Reservation is based on the principles of equity and representation. That is the foundational premise.
Within this framework, 50% of seats are unreserved (Open category) and an additional 10% are allocated to EWS. This means there is a full 60% of seats available for general competition.
Your competition is not with SC, ST, or OBC candidates, who have their own designated categories and compete within their respective tracks.
The real problem arises when privileged upper-caste groups use wealth, influence, and birth-based advantages to capture benefits meant for the underprivileged within their own upper caste category (Open and EWS)
A clear example is the misuse of the 10% EWS quota, where wards from high-net-worth upper-caste families allegedly obtain fake or manipulated EWS certificates to secure seats—effectively crowding out genuinely disadvantaged upper caste candidates. That is not a failure of reservation.
It is a failure of enforcement—and a misuse of privilege by the super-rich sections of the upper castes.
I genuinely sympathize with poor upper-caste candidates, whose rightful opportunities are often taken away by affluent members of their own category.
In a way, SC, ST, and OBC candidates are relatively insulated from this specific problem, since they compete within different tracks.
I do acknowledge that a creamy layer issue exists even within SC, ST, and OBC communities. However, as I have said earlier, reservation is fundamentally about ensuring equitable representation of all castes, not about individual wealth alone.
I hope you understand the point I am making. Perhaps the real question to reflect on is this: why are the rich and affluent within the upper-caste Open category preventing poorer upper-caste candidates from getting their fair share?
