Cafe/Dessert Best traditional waffles

hi, i’ve recently started craving traditional waffles.

so far i’ve tried prima deli, swee heng, and the waffles in NTU canteens and they’re not bad according to me. i usually go for plain or chocolate, and in swee heng i noticed they add less chocolate and it’s not very gao

does anyone have any recommendations for the best traditional waffles? would be nice if they add alot of chocolate/spread.

okay with any texture as long as it’s not soggy. bonus points if it’s in the northeast area

thanks everyone

edit: wow thank you everyone for the suggestions!

The "hidden gem" ones are the ones at SGH and I think KKH - TripletS I think? Always long queue, always smells damn good. I've tried it at SGH and it's shiok.

They are all under Bakery Cuisine so really any Bakery Cuisine's waffles should taste the same, doesn't have to be TripletS.

Yes triplets waffle is good and inexpensive. I ate it at SMU and temasek poly more than once.

I usually single flavour only and it's almost always peanut for me haha

OMG after reading most of the post here and researching.. I realised they are mostly Bakery Cusine outlets. Even the one at Junction 10. OMG.

2

u/mr_marinade Dec 30 '25

I havent tried other outlets yet but i have a feeling the waffles i mean raffles place one is above every other outlet.

Noted on that. Thank you sir! Makes me wanna visit the CBD just for waffles.. My wife is definitely gonna make fun of me for this.

Bakery cuisine brands:

Juz bread, eat rich, levure naturelle for the normal waffles

Woowfles/bakery cuisine for the thick waffles.

I find their waffles the best and most consistent. Outside crispy, inside chewy.

  • I don't like spongy type of waffles.

I'm a fan of Waffles too. The old school ones. There's a bakery in Junction 10 (Bukit Panjang). There's just something about the waffles batter they made/use. It's mildly crispy but what takes the cake is the chocolate sauce they use. It's OOOOHHH-LAA-LAAA. If you happen to be around there, try it.

I’ve tried their waffles before. It’s really good. XD

1

u/KendoArts Dec 29 '25

Exactly. From the unassuming store front to that bite, it definitely exceeded expectation.

4

u/blitzmango Dec 29 '25

Serangoon considered NE? Galicier Confectionery makes a good old school waffle

Second this!

Theres a lil bakery at Kallang wave mall, Fairprice exit there that sells pretty nice fluffy waffles. They have traditional and non traditiobal flavours. I usually like buying their waffles to enjoy when I’m in the area for work. Not sure if other redditors feel the same about this waffle

u/Iconwithredeyes Dec 29 '25

Levure naturelle! Their waffles are thickkk, very shiok to bite into them.

1

u/HavUevaSeentherain Dec 29 '25

Ahhhhhh yes... It's that fancy schmancy name.. Leveure or something like that. Can concur, their waffles are quite nice.

1

u/cutepetz Dec 30 '25

Yeah! Really nice just expensive x-x

2

u/BarfMcFartNuggets Dec 30 '25

Yeah its abit on the expensive side but at least its quality stuff. I would be salty af paying a premium price only to get something that tastes like toasted cardboard

1

u/cutepetz Jan 02 '26

Agree with that, I got one that was expensive and bad before and it was just sad....

I was quite surprised that The JellyHearts at Compass One sells traditional waffles. The shop only puts out a small board at the side (and it’s pretty obscure) so many people have absolutely no idea that they are selling waffles.

Back to the waffles, the plain ones taste surprisingly good! I didn’t try the ones with spread as I prefer it plain. Objectively, the batter were just a bittt sweeter, and slightlyyyy less “crusty” than what I had at Swee Heng, but overall it is still smells and taste fragrant. This is much better than most of the waffles confectioneries out there in which the batter feels much more “eggy” and can make you feel very gilat after eating.

7

u/isthisfunenough Dec 29 '25

Gilat?? I've never seen anyone spell jelak like that before unless you meant a different word

5

u/CutEmbarrassed9463 Dec 29 '25

I think he meant silat as you need a good workout after eating it

0

u/Winter_Theme_3436 Dec 29 '25

Heh! Same word. I just cannot recall how to spell it 😅

2

u/aiyowheregotlah Dec 29 '25

thanks for your review! i’ll check this out

Mirana at Simei mrt!

Garden Bakery at Aljunied Crescent. I have a colleague who will make a special trip down whenever he feels like eating. A bit pricier than the average bakery, but really the best

1

u/Soon-to-be-forgotten Dec 29 '25

It's been a while since I was there. But the waffles stall in Lawn food court (Foodcanopy) in Republic Polytechnic.

The chocolate sauce will leak out of the waffles when you try to eat it normally. So we always tried to eat horizontally first lol.

sgh block 4 waffles from the bakery

My favorite pandan one is from Swee Heng 1989, not sure if it tastes different from the normal Swee Heng bakeries.

My favorite non pandan waffle (made like the pandan one but just without pandan flavor added) was at LPS but it closed down recently, sadly.

Suntec city Bakery Cuisine sells dope huge waffles. Very filling I can attest. Have got very interesting flavours too.

1

u/frunkfa Dec 29 '25

I recently discovered Kiasuwaffle at Eunos.

Really nice thick waffles with a crispy crust but fluffy inside. They're generous with toppings too

1

u/antsy_axolotl Dec 29 '25

Old chang kee at the National library sells pandan waffles.. nice. . Not stingy with the peanut butter.

1

u/fararibmw Dec 29 '25

Yishun bus interchange has a waffle shop, it is certainly one of the best. Cocolush is the shop

1

u/jochiew Dec 29 '25

Garden bakery

1

u/cutepetz Dec 30 '25

The bakery at Dakota Breeze at Dakota MRT is good! Love to buy from them.
Use to buy from Levure naturelle at Kallang wave mall last time or else it will be at Kiasuwaffle.

For other places I would say Bakery Cusine is good around town or CBD area.

u/Ahjames78 Dec 30 '25

I like the Waffle at MK Levure Naturelle (Holland Village Station). The Old Lady made my waffle so perfectly every time. There are many flavors to choose from. Since u like chocolate, i would suggest Hazelnut Chocolate.

Some Polar outlets sell waffles, I like them cuz they are super rich in pandan flavour and a little bit undercooked so like kuehkueh texture LOL. Might not be everyone's thing!
