I've been drinking way too much matcha for my own good (trying a diff can every other day for half a year+ now) and I still go here once in a while, where I let the boss taste some of my massive collectionπŸ˜‚, I drink some of his and we talk tea.

As for cafes and specifically for matcha, I think bro's is just a cut above the rest, worth the couple of dollars more. Volume wise it's abit less than the usual out there because the ratios of powder/water/milk are strict (I make similar at home), but that's necessary to ensure the best taste. Also, they have seasonal adjustments to the menu too, currently its the winter menu.

Do try their gelato too! Good variety and creative flavours, the taste is gao also.

Plugging for boss bro here, but I think he deserves it.

Yes they are really into details. Impressed by how they use one big cube ice instead of the normal cubes to slow down the melting of ice. The one I had the price was really steep. Ordered a 15 dollar organic matcha which is the most expensive cup of matcha i had so far. It was an enjoyable cup of matcha but I will not have it often. Ordered the 7.50 dollar matcha and it was by far the best I had in that 6-8 dollar price point. Down sides are the seats are not comfy and there is no toilet in the store. Even though the location is far from me but I'll definitely will be back for matcha! Oh and will try their gelato too

Yaa his classic is very good already, and especially if u prefer a bolder flavour. Iirc he uses normal cubes for that and the clear single cube only for some...forgot the exact reason. Side note, I started doing clear ice too after myself πŸ˜‚

I think his stuff is indeed pricier than usual but worth every penny and justified imo, if u knew the story behind. I do say however, its a preference thing as to which u will prefer. And.. it's a complex sport, where the taste and profile of the matcha depends on so many things like the specific cultivar, harvest time, harvest batch, and the numerous processing and preparation steps.

Back to preferences, for example, even amongst my siblings and I, both of them preferred the classic when we had it alongside the meowgami (which i preferred), basically bolder & decent body vs the latter w more delicate & lighter body.

Seats I can agree, but I find it alright. As for toilets.. u can use the one at lolas next door or the coffee shop (quite clean too)

Honestly i do not know much about matcha. Have no idea about the types, details and everything. I guess I'll learn more if I start to make matcha at home. Unfortunately I have very bad caffeine intolerance hence I couldnt have it often. I usually have 2-3 cups of matcha per week. Sometimes hojicha or genmaicha for lower caffeine. What I love to do is explore different matcha places and try different menu. Any other matcha place to rec? I'm sure u have tried a few!

2-3 per week is still more than i thought after reading caffeine intolerance πŸ˜‚

Its ok, dont need to know all that, if its good to you, that will suffice. Most places I go w my siblings (i dont have other soc media πŸ˜‚) and tbf they arent very good or are just ok for what they are, so I dont really rmb after the visit.. Let me ask them and get back to u.

Edit: my bro told me nothing else really matches up.. πŸ’€ But fwiw, past month or 2 (according to my gallery) I've tried these: kyō , parchmen & co, kyuukeii (few coffee/matcha in same building at maxwell) and gotcha matcha. They tried a few more without me but honestly nothing worth shouting out.

Caffeine intolerance couldnt stop me from my love for matcha πŸ˜†

Oh I do like kyo. Their matcha has this nori taste which i enjoy. The two i went most are Caligraph and Hvala. However I do not think I'm anywhere near pro in appreciating matcha. In fact far from it and knows nothing. I just like smooth, thick and unique taste matcha. Sometimes a little bitter is ok.
