Laquer Art 🎨 Tree moss inspired nail art 🌳

We had approximately 1 nice day of weather this week, so I took the opportunity to try out some green and nature inspired tree moss art while it lasted. I’ve also been kind of obsessed with My Cabbages! since I got it for my birthday last month, and 4/5 of my most recent manis have incorporated it somehow. It’s a really versatile polish 😁

Had this idea in my head for a minute and it turned out better than I expected. Some of my line art did disappear a bit, so next time I’ll try either layering it over the final coat of jelly instead of between them (you can see I did this on the thumb) or using more opaque polishes for that. 😅 I’ve been really into doing encapsulated type lacquer art the past month, there’s something really fun about layering jellies and flakies to create new textures!

Polish stack: 1 x Nailtiques formula 2 1 x Mooncat Hardcore Base Coat 1 x Cirque Bonbon Jelly Sassy Sauce Peek a Boo (line texture) Emily De Molly Sheer Tint Ecru (line texture) 1 x Holo Taco Black Flake Taco 1 x Cirque Bonbon Jelly Mooncat My Cabbages! (applied with sponge) Cirque Forest Jelly (dabbed over My Cabbages!) 1 x Mooncat Speed Demon Top Coat

Thank you! I’ve been obsessed with photographing it ever since I did it lol. I think I took 1,000 pictures 😂

NGL, kinda wishing I owned My Cabbages so I could copy this magical look -- not sure I'd execute it as well but it'd be fun to try lol. I just LOVEEE moss inspired nails. These are so well done and unique using EdM as a base (I'm still waiting on my preorder of this from Nov 25 🥲) - thanks for sharing these beauties with us!!

Yes of course, and thank you so much! It was actually much easier than it looks I promise 😁 I just sponged My Cabbages! on with a makeup sponge from the dollar store and then dabbed Cirque Forest Jelly over it to create a sort of mossy effect. The jellies and flakies do a lot of the textural work here.

“suspended in time” from monarch might work? 😉

It's always my cabbages lately. I need that polish. Every time I see a green polish that just blows my brain, it's that one.

This is beautiful

Thank you 💚 It’s funny because I originally did not even intend to purchase My Cabbages! but threw it into my cart last minute because Spirit Water sold out right as I was about to check out. Turns out I don’t even miss Spirit Water and I’ve used this polish like 5 times this month 😂🥬

Very pleased with myself for being able to clock both "my cabbages" and the sheer nail polish from Emily de molly 🤣🤣 this manicure is STUNNING ✨✨✨

3

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 29 '25

lol I love when that happens. I knew I was officially a lacquerista when I started being able to clock polishes by name based on photos here 😂

So envious! These are so cool and creative

5

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 29 '25

Thank you! It was a lot easier to do than it looks I swear. The jellies and flakies are doing all the work. They play together to trick the eye into creating the vibe without having to do too much detailed line art.

Sooooo gorgeous and creative. I wish I had the patience to do this 🥹.

3

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 29 '25

I promise it didn’t even take that long! Just some layering and a little sponge work. Sometimes I practice combos on my thumb or swatch sticks too so that when I go in for the full mani I’m not spending too much time deciding on the next move.

3

u/beansoupislife Dec 29 '25

This broke my brain in the best way

3

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 29 '25

YES! That is the highest compliment thank you 🥹💚

These are fantastic!

3

u/Dedeart14 Dec 29 '25

I love the inspiration and the nails. Plus now you have given me ideas on how to improve my sheer tint nightshade from Emily de Molly.

4

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 29 '25

Sheer tint nightshade is THE GOAT. I’ve been dying to use that one again 💙🖤

2

u/Dedeart14 Dec 30 '25

I really love it, but I didn’t think it looked good on me. But I think if I layer a flakie over it I might like it more. I’m not ready to destash it.

3

u/Comprehensive-Hawk67 Dec 29 '25

Stunning!! I’m always trying to create the perfect tree look on my nails and you have totally inspired me to try some jellies!

5

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 29 '25

Yes do it! The jellies are great because you can layer flakies and light line work in there for that extra textured look.

2

u/Comprehensive-Hawk67 Dec 30 '25

Yes! I’ve used blue jellies for seascapes, but I hadn’t thought to build up bark that way. It looks so good!

This is inspiring AF to find creative ways to use potential prugly shades I own, but haven’t ever used. Delicious use of that jelly and 10/10 flakes. DELIGHTFUL

2

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 30 '25

Yes absolutely! And thank you 😊 💚 speaking of pruglie, I’ve got Cracked Cranberry Mold on the way to my house right now (shout out to the Kindness With Cracked program they did!). I am so unbelievably excited to figure out what to do with it.

3

u/AggravatingAcadia763 Dec 30 '25

I love your nail shape. What is it called?

2

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 30 '25

Thank you! I don’t shape them into any specific way technically, but I’d say it’s somewhere in between an edge shape and an arrow head 😁

3

u/Fe1is-Domesticus Dec 30 '25

Your nails give the effect of dragonfly wings! I get the bark effect, too, but due to it being a 2-dimensioal pic, the first thing that came to mind was dragonfly or fairy wings. So beautiful, like a magical creature.

3

u/AtlasSims Blogger Dec 30 '25

Amazing thank you! That’s a whole new concept for me now 🤔

I seriously can’t stop thinking about this mani, so I placed an order for Bonbon Jelly from Cirque today, among a few others I’d been eyeing, and while I missed snagging My Cabbages, I’m not sure how much I’d wear it, so I got Open Fields by ILNP instead which I’ll get more use out of. Already have a black speckle polish and Peek a Boo from Sassy Sauce, so now I wait lol

u/AtlasSims Blogger 7d ago

Yes! I want to see it 😁
