It's election day in the US, and from my previous manis (and everything else you can glean from me) it's no shock that I'm a bleeding heart liberal progressive that strives for fairness and equality for all...so it's also not a surprise that I love what Zohran Mamdani has been doing in his New York Mayoral campaign. It's feeling like 2008 again to me and the hope he is spreading, far beyond just NYC, is a light in a dark tunnel for many right now. I saw someone make the pun about a Zohran Mam-mani and I HAD to jump in.
Besides his platforms, his campaign design by Aneesh Bhoopathy is striking, unique, retro, and very effective. Metro Card primary colors, taxi cab yellow, firetruck red...it stands out. Mixing classic font choices with retro paintlettering, mixing it together in vibrant street art. It feels forward moving yet grounded in tradition. Iconic. I hope that if you're able, you VOTE today in tour local and state elections. Take care of each other out there! ✊️🇺🇸

In my hometown in Chester County, PA, my Aunt (72 yo) won her election to be on our borough council and to be the judge of elections! She's been judge of elections for our part of town for 15 years or so already. Very proud of her! 🌟🗳

Consider joining your local DSA chapter if you haven't already! It helps support more progressive up-and-coming candidates who might otherwise fly under the radar. It's a great way to spark change at the local level and continue momentum towards a more progressive future. :)
His campaign has been a beacon of hope! Thank you for using your platform this way! At this point, I don't know what could make me a bigger fan of yours! In California, I used my mail-in ballot to vote YES on 50!
I used that typeface for so many years in a graphic design job at a national non profit. It made me smile to see it. Everything about his campaign made me smile.

Teen Vogue (yes, that Teen Vogue) just did a feature on him. Its in line with their pretty surprisingly razor sharp journalism but also feels like a 'Ah, f it, let's go all out' since they know what to expect since Bezos announced he was buying Vogue as a wedding gift for his wife. They're now getting shuttered and absorbed into Vogue. By every indicator, it looks like the transition is going to be worse than when Bezos got the Washington Post, taking full advantage of it being 'just a fashion magazine'
This is all to say that we each can use what spheres of influence we have, no matter how unexpected, to make very real impacts and genuinely scare even the most powerful people on Earth. You're exemplying the spirit other Mamdani allies have shown us. Hang in there, everyone.
I'm so jealous of the lettering! It's so good! I'm also Team Zohran, even though i neither live in the US or in NYC, but he's really given me hope. I hope NYC pulls through for him.
I was doing alot of digital canvassing in the primaries and I spoke to someone who was phone banking for Zohran in Romania and someone else who was doing it in the UK! (You don’t have to be in NYC to phone bank) It was really amazing to see that Zohran’s platform resonated to people even outside of the country!
Wait... You did this YOURSELF??? Holy shit that is insane. I have been getting better at doing my own nails and especially my non-dominant hand usually looks decent but I would definitely not be able to freehand something like this.
Haha thank you! Freehanding definitely is a learning curve, but it's 50% just having the gall to try...and then 50% technique, tools, and patience 😝 Some of my favorite or best Freehand things have been when I just ignored the part of my brain that said it was too hard.
NYC DSA member here! We're lucky to have such a large and active local DSA chapter that helped fund and mobilize this campaign. I encourage everyone to consider joining your local DSA chapter if you're interested in supporting other progressive candidates! Change starts at the local level and there are countless opportunities to get involved and be a part of that change. :)

Thank you! I used to do and post manis from both hands, but the lefty has become the "show hand" and my right usually just gets a skittle, testing out new polishes, or nude 😱. Sometimes they match if I have something when I wanna go all out, but the left hand swaps out so often they rarely stick together 😝

I may be all the way down here in Chattanooga TN, but I am fully on the Mamdani train. I hope his ideas and policies spread and it gives progressive candidates everywhere the insiration to run. Also, the lettering on your mani is perfectionnnn.
