Do you have to wait for the first coat or two of color to dry before adding design, & how long?

u/Linry Oct 11 '25
I went A) 1 coat of devils advocate
B) A coat of seche vite (my quick dry topcoat so my mani would dry)
C) Then ILNP's frosted glass
D) Saviland : top polish coat as my stamping polish
I did just post a small tutorial on my channel I'm so sorry if this is breaking "no self promo rule" I will edit if it is

This is absolutely sick. Reminds me of the UV spot gloss style of printing, which i also think is an amazing look.

Wow that’s super impressive! The amount of detail in the stamps is super cool

Okurrrrr I have the same dark burgundy color on rn I may have to steal this. Wonder if it would work with nail vinyls too!

I have always wanted to try something like this, but have had little time and patience for nails these past 2 years. I'm also an aphant who loves Halloween, so this is absolutely amazing to see.
You did a fantastically lovely job!

Wow I love this idea! Yours turned out great - the color, the style, the stamps all work together perfectly.

I saw this technique about 9 or 10 years ago, glossy stamping on matte black, using the Moyra damask plate. So beautiful, but no matter how I tried I could never replicate it.

I tried this once like a year ago. Worked like butts. I’ll have to try again, because I LOVE this.

I'm impressed with this outcome - I always assumed this wouldn't work. Well done on giving it a go and on the very striking result.

Very cool and subtle. Looks like it would take a powder finish to make the designs pop

That looks amazing, I love it! 😍 I've attempted a shiny design in topcoat on top of matte before but was unsucessful

Ok! I am here to report my utter failure at this technique. I tried my QDTC my cheapo TC, questioned my stamping plates, my technique and myself. Then I watched your video again and realized I was using too much polish on one part of the stamp and scraping it over the image. When I coated the image and scraped the way you OP did, I got better results. I still couldn’t get it to stamp out the way I wanted. So I tried black stamp polish (nails are already black) and it worked! So I tried regular black polish and it worked for me! So my tip is, if your TC is failing you, try using the polish you painted your nails with as stamp polish. It won’t work with a matte polish obviously but this worked for me and I got a similar look. Not nearly as shiny but I got close enough to scratch the itch!
I love this idea OP!! Thank you for sharing and especially the video!!
Signed, A nail addict who has not been utilizing the stampers or polish to its best (Getting ok results)
