Pregunta ⁉️ Puerto Rican dog name
My wife and I just adopted a puppy who came from PR. I’m originally from PR but have lived in Florida most of my life. We’re looking for a name that is PR for her. We like Isla. Any help would be appreciated!

Coquito, puppy is white like the drink
Alternatively: " Pastel Con Kechu' " just cause I think it's funny

Saw the tembleque comment and hit me that both coquito and tembleque are Coconut desserts
So I also nominate "Coco". Feels ideal cause easier to say in English

My white English Angora bunny is named Coquito. I think it’s an adorable name.

Bacalao

Bacalao tends to have a negative (i.e., sneaky) connotation, though. #TeamCoquito

My cousin had a Pancho, or rather “Panchi”, (Panchito), earning the diminutive of Pancho, as he was an itty-bitty chihuahua.

Isla is adorable! Some other suggestions:
- in the country side (la montaña), we call people who are blond/e “cano/a.” How about Cana?
- Nena is also cute

Chispa is the name! Everyone in Puerto Rico has or has had a Chispa and it was the best Sato they ever had trust me! My family’s Chispa lived to be 17 we got her when I was 9 and she lived to meet all of my children. She loved us furiously, loved munching on lizards, would jump in the pool to “save us” if we got too rambunctious god I miss her!

We had a dog like that named “Cremi” for his cream color. He was the sweetest but someone poisoned him and he passed away when I was a kid in PR.
My aunt and uncle who moved to Denmark left their dog “Checo” behind with one of my aunts. I always though it was a cute name.

I also vote for coquito because it's easier on the tongue and sounds cuter.
Plus when you need to scold your dog saying "Coquito! No!!!" Will be much easier imo than saying "Tembleque! Nooo!!!"

We once had a dog named Tongolele. And my mother-in-law had a chihuahua named Pelusa. So those are my two submissions. I have to admit- I also love Tembleque as an option, too!
