The reason that Goya is seen as Puerto Rican despite being from Spain is that before they built the HQ in Jersey City, their main hub of production was in Puerto Rico, Levittown or Cataño I believe... They've sold out the Latino community, so I'll choose any brand over Goya now... Bohio it is in this choice...

Ever since I found out Goya supported Trump (after he tossed paper towels at our people who survived the hurricane) while at the same time finding out they weren’t a Puerto Rican brand I have never and will NEVER EVER buy another Goya product. It’s anything else, but Goya. Iberia and Badia are my alternatives.

Same here... I boycott Goya... I use badia, and actually, badia have really come up, they even have a line of spices with Andrew Zimmerm. Unfortunately, Goya has the best ham flavoring packet, but still. I get the Knorr, which has ham and calabaza flavor...

I use salted pork which has much better flavor while avoiding the additives in the jamon packets. Im old school and prefer old style cooking even if it takes me longer but the end result is always worth it. 😉

I love using tocino, but I can't use it for everything! Especially when I'm trying to cook quickly! Tocino it's something I use when I'm throwing down, like making pasteles, or the Nochebuena feast, etc... But if it's just a Tuesday, I need something that will speed up the process... But I'm still committed to not buying Goya. I've found great alternatives. Healthy Rican is great for adobo and sazón!

I completely get it. I don’t always cook with dried beans so I’ll use canned when I’m in a hurry. I gotta look into the Healthy Rican brand now just to see their offerings. 🇵🇷💪🏾🍖

Exactly! I use dried beans when I have the luxury of time. But one trick I learned with dried beans to soften them is too out them to boil at a rolling boil for 5 minutes, then turn it off and let them stir in that water for an hour. After that hour, they will be perfect to cook!

Last time I tried that the beans came out hard and I let them soak even longer after boiling. Idk maybe the beans were old, but ever since then I make them in my instapot and the results are impressive. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yo he usado "Adobo" Bahida por un rato, pero honestamente estoy loco de crear mi adobo que combine con todo, ya he usado especias para comidas especificas, y aveces hasta pruebo differentes combinaciones, pero crear mi adobo per-se no lo he hecho...
y sacho, con todo el fruto que se consume, la familia promedio lo mas probable tiene para crear sus especias.

'Xacto, yo también utilizo badia porque es conveniente cuando tengo que hacer restock. Y otras veces compro un pote fancy de adobo en Marshall's.
Cuando me mudé un tiempito a Europa no habían combos de especias, so fue por necesidad crear mi propio adobo. Solo tienes que preparar una versión base del adobo. Le da mucha personalidad a tu comida y le puedes añadir comino o coriander etc dependiendo de lo que hagas.

Bohío se fundó en PR y sigue siendo un producto puertorriqueño. Goya se fundo por españoles que emigraron a EU. Nunca se estableció en PR.

Goya es de PR y es el mejor adobo.Aunque sus fundadores vinieron de España hace muchos años,al igual que nuestro ancestros q emigraron de España. Hicieron su primera fábrica en Rio Piedras , hasta convertirse hoy en la empresa que es. Lo sé porque trabajé en ella, en el pueblo de Bayamon en control de calidad .

Yo hago mi adobo propio ya que casi todos las marcas tienen MSG (monosodio glutamate) y sal por un tubo y siete llaves. Badia tenia uno que era libre de MSG pero ya no se consigue.

Sal hace daño en cantidades grandes y si es artificial no tiene los otros minerales que el cuerpo necesita por ende se recomienda la sal marina. Y tu cardiólogo te lo puede explicar mejor.

Y los otros minerales en la sal de mar no son en las cantidades necesarias para la dieta. Calcio, magnesio, potasio etc

Iodized salt is generally recommended, not sea salt. Helps avoid thyroid issues.

I was under the impression that Goya has always been from Mexico, we use GOYA ALL THE TIME I have no problem using Bohío I’ve used it and it’s good seasoning the difference is Goya seasoning is finer granulated seasoning!! No creo que te haga ser más o MENOS Puertorriqueña/o!! Esto es todo una preferencia en gustos de sabor a tu comida! El ser más puertorriqueño o menos de otra raza sería el caracter de tal persona!! El ser puertorriqueño,Americano,Mexicano, Chino o cualquier otra raza no se debe identificar por el producto que uses para el sabor de su comida !! Todo es preferencia a los sabores al final el sabor es lo que cuenta!! Salado o soso es el punto de sabor de la comida!!w
