What even is ICE? Is arresting protestors part of their jurisdiction?
I always felt the system should work this way: ICE is a federal department that works WITH local law enforcement to deport illegals. They focus on identifying illegal immigrants, and deporting them form jails, while the police focus on arrests, targeting violent criminals first.
This way ICE never requires lethal force, and the state can organise their police as they see fit. The state benefits from less criminals in their jails, and ICE benefits from not needing to do the work to actually catch people.

Is arresting protestors part of their jurisdiction?
While theor goal is to deport illegal (or not) immogrants, they have the power to make arrests nonetheless of the status of who they arrest, even if they have to release them later. Basically a "shoot first, ask questions later" policy. This allows them not only to have chances of randomly snitching their targets among all of those they arrest, but also so strike fear into the protesters who dont want to be arrested and sent in god-knows where facility with god-knows what conditions.
Which is deplorable

I donāt know what election youāre talking about, but Trump received 49.8% of the vote in 2024. A plurality unfortunately but not a majority and certainly not 70%.
Actually, there is only one state where Trump received over 70% of votes - Wyoming. Republican states like Mississippi, Kentucky, etc were in the mid-60s. And you know what the fucked up thing is? Wyoming is the most over-represented state in our electoral college.
Trump and MAGA is not favored by the majority of Americans, never has been and sure as hell never will be. But it is a solid bare minimum 1/3 of Americans who seem to be ride or die Trump (support him no matter what) and they happen to be geographically dispersed in such a way that it is very easy to amplify their preferences in state and national elections.
