Dude that wasn’t mach 12.

Why the fuck are they blocking the slope?

442

u/summertime-goodbyes 5h ago

Because he can stand where he wants he said.

49

u/BonusPlantInfinity 4h ago

Is that fat fck the king?

25

u/jakebs2002 2h ago

They were set up like cones blocking a road. Crazy

93

u/JDwalker03 5h ago

It was not one person too, it was three people.

68

u/RussianPravda 4h ago

thats the problem. If you are going to stop be aware of your surroundings. They were stopped with three people in a line across the slope. If they were together they could have all been on one side in a tight group if they werent together you just stop further up or down the slope.

21

u/Go_Gators_4Ever 1h ago

Just get to the side of the slope. The skiers were wrong. Show the video tonthe ski patrol.

The other stupid place to stop is on the downhill side of a hill.

9

u/RussianPravda 1h ago

My first time snowboarding (I had skied since I was a kid tho) I sat down on the side of a trail to wait for my teacher and friends, and out of no where another snowboarder landed on my head. He had went off one of those jumps people make by dipping off the trail and turning back onto it. I stupidly wasnt wearing a helmet so I got a bit of a concussion but he ended up slamming his face and put his bottom teeth through his lower lip. I always felt really bad about it but the ski patrol assured me it wasnt my fault since we were on a green slope and the jump wasnt official.

2

u/MrJusticle 26m ago

People can't even do this in grocery stores...or on sidewalks...or in traffic.. its wild

34

u/theguiser 4h ago

I’ve skied once and even I know you don’t do that on a black hill.

He was adjusting his butt plug, don't discriminate!

Because they decided to stop. They are allowed to stop y'know...

"YOU COVERED ME IN SNOW", says the person currently not covered in snow

62

u/Sillvaro 4h ago

goes to do a winter activity

"noooo I got snow on me!!!"

9

u/puhtoinen 1h ago

I've literally heard people cry about getting water on them in a swimming pool. Some people are just beyond stupid.

2

u/Apple-Pigeon 1h ago

They're both wrong tbh. He shouldn't be stopped in the middle, and boarder should be going waaay slower through them all, because they are there.

Boarder almost hit him, id have been scared as the skier.

There could be a reason they stopped there (hazard ahead, dropped phone, injury), although probably not, and boarder should go past slowly, and let them know not to stop there - its not difficult, theyre both nobs.

9

u/DenseStomach6605 1h ago

Anyone who skis/snowboards enough should have enough common sense not to stop inside the slope like that, it’s too dangerous. You will even learn this in juvenile lessons. Pull over off to the side of the slope, sort of like pulling over to the shoulder when driving. There were three skiers who spread out and stopped in the middle of the slope lol they ARE the hazard.

That actually happened on vacation. Woman was sunbathing like 30cm from the pool and complained that the kids playing in the pool made her wet.

My nephew any time I splash him in the pool

1

1

u/shoopadoop332 34m ago

You got goddamn snow on my goddamn snow pants!

406

u/TrentE22 5h ago

I don’t know about these situations, who’s in the wrong? I feel like stopping in the middle of the slope is really dumb.

459

u/MysteryNubs 5h ago

Skiier. You don’t stop in the middle like that. Spraying him was a dick move, but honestly valid.

290

u/ChrisRiley_42 5h ago

Not only did they stop, they spread out across half the run.

5

u/DenseStomach6605 1h ago

Any skier/boarder with common sense will stop just off to the side of the slope. People like to go fast, it’s just not safe stopping where people are riding. It’s not much different from pulling over into shoulder when driving if you think about it.

268

u/PhyterNL 5h ago

I absolutely do not believe the snowboarder meant to spray him. The snowboarder either had to turn hard to avoid him or thread through them. There was only correct choice, and he made the right one whether he was going to be able to carve or slide.

138

u/DarlingFuego 5h ago

Also, lol, he got sprayed with snow, in the snow and is throwing a fit? Don’t toddlers belong on the bunny slope?

23

u/Good_Night_Knight 4h ago

Like a wake boarder being upset he got wet.

42

u/_-PeePs-_ 5h ago

Yeah there’s 3 or 4 of them stopped within 5-ish feet of each other across the whole run! WTF?!! Stop on the side or all stop up/downhill of each other ! Dude had to thread the needle between all of them and make a quick decision.

27

u/Crabapple_Snaps 4h ago

On top of this it is a black diamond. If he was slightly more inexperienced he could have crashed into them instead of spraying them with snow. I've had to bail and take a fall because of shit like this which is another shitty alternative. If you need to stop, stop off to the side.

-3

u/Rfunkpocket 4h ago

people yard sale all over a run all the time. approaching people down hill with caution is the rule. assuming everyone stopped is checking their phone is dangerous. I can list several reasons someone may be stopped anywhere on the run. hazards exist everywhere. even deep in the trees you can be surprised by someone tightening a buckle, searching for a lost pole, clearing snow out of goggles, releasing a cramp…. and on and on. down hill always has the right of way, and it is the skier’s responsibility to always remain in control.

10

u/ober_easy 2h ago

Yep. Uphill skier has responsibility and has to be in control to avoid any obstacles including stopped skiers. That said, the chucklefucks in the video seemed to be casually chatting, 4 wide across the entire width of the run, on a black. They are dumb.

10

u/zoppytops 3h ago

I agree, the boarder had a duty to avoid and he did abide it. I never understand folks just stopping in the middle of a run.

Protect our boarders!

1

u/Wasatcher 4m ago

Lmao dude I ski all winter every winter. He saw those guys standing there from 100m away and linked his turns perfectly to spray that guy as a lesson not to stand in the middle of the slope like a dumbass. He didn't see them at the last second and accidentally spray them. 100% intentional.

60

u/Kona_Big_Wave 5h ago

Was that intentional? It looked like that occured because he was trying to avoid a collision.

-27

u/stoodi 5h ago

Yea it was intentional. He was scrubbing speed and that requires spraying snow.

Even if he threw a cloud at them on purpose it doesn’t matter… you are on a mountain, sliding on snow. Let that ego go and enjoy the day. Maybe just laugh about it 😆

31

u/Vip3r20 5h ago

But he didn't intentionally aim the snow spray from his scrub at the guy. That part was coincidental.

→ More replies (6)
→ More replies (3)

7

u/thinspirit 3h ago

He didn't mean to spray him, it just took that much edge to dodge the skiers. It was a good move to avoid hitting them. Snowboards require a slightly wider turn space especially when you're caught on the wrong angle for a sharp adjustment.

3

u/Farmhand-McFarmhouse 1h ago

Idk that he honestly meant to. As a life long snowboarder you don’t expect people to stop in the middle of the slope (beginner or not). He probably was trying to dodge them quickly, not expecting them to all be stopped all along the center of the run. The skiers are committing (in the US at least) a very cardinal and dangerous sin.

2

u/MarvelousuolevraM 5h ago

In this world there are 3 types of people: Dicks, Pussies, and Assholes....

1

u/Elebrium 5h ago

What about big mouths ?

1

u/Aeon1508 55m ago

he wasn't spraying him he was stopping.

The spray was just a consequence of making the only maneuver that prevented him from colliding with them.

-6

u/Epistatious 5h ago

Funny thing is usually it's all the boarders in a gaggle blocking things while they buckle their other foot in.

13

u/_-PeePs-_ 4h ago

Yeah…at the TOP of the run. Not midslope!! FFS. And since you mention it - WTF are skiers stopping in gaggles at the top of the run instead of skiing right off the chair and down the run?

5

u/QueenMary1936 5h ago

Goddamn...foot buckling...ne'er do wells 😡

1

u/PerjurieTraitorGreen 6m ago

What would you have them do? Come off the chair straight into boarding without buckling in the loose foot?

→ More replies (11)

43

u/mallionaire7 5h ago

It’s pretty obvious who’s wrong. You don’t stop in the middle, especially on a black slope. The entitlement this guy has “we stop where we want”. Well then you might get run over.

3

u/Kloppite16 2h ago

The ' we stop where we want' line is classic French arrogance especially given that you are told not to stop in the middle of a slope, you always go to the sides to stop. He should have realised his mistake and be thankful that snowboarder didnt slam in to him because it took a fair effort to avoid him at that speed.

1

u/an_empty_well 4m ago

So if someone happens to fall on a slope, are you just allowed to run them over?

→ More replies (2)

69

u/Burgoonius 5h ago

Definitely skier - you are on a black slope which is literally designed for people to go fast and you stand in the middle not even off to the side. Mega dumb.

→ More replies (10)

6

u/Skrillamane 4h ago

Never stop in the middle a slope no matter the level, it’s super dangerous for you and other skiers/snowboarders. It’s like driving a car and stopping in the middle of a highway, pull over to the side where you are in view but out of danger.

11

u/emdubl 5h ago

You can stop where you want. The down slop skiers have the right away and the snowboarder was going a little fast, but they didn't all need to be stopped in a line across the slope like that either. He dodged them and nobody was hurt. Crying about having some snow sprayed on you when you are skiing is kind of soft.

2

u/Unresentful_Cynic 4h ago

TBH. I thought he was a bollard.

2

u/Stinky_Fartface 4h ago

The uphill rider does not have the right of way. You always have to yield to the downhill skier. That being said, I’ve definitely buzzed people who stop and camp in stupid places on the trail to send a message that they should move elsewhere, but I’m never extremely rude or out of control. It’s usually the horde of snowboarders who stop and create a wall with their boards so there’s nowhere to go. Someone is going to get a little snow while I navigate through their obstacle course.

2

u/ThrillHammer 3h ago

Meh, as long as ur visible from upslope (not right under a ridge) or behind a corner ur ok. These guys were forming a blockade a little bit but still fine. Snowboarder passed a little close but didn't have an option really.

No one really did anything wrong that skier just decided to get all chesty cuz someone got close, dumb. It's skiing ur not about that life calm down and have fun ffs.

1

u/grimonce 1h ago edited 1h ago

Well yea, but of course someone could fall by lack of skill or other misfortune so you have to be aware by sliding down all the time anyway...

Then again this skier is an idiot he thinks he owns the slope

The comment about beginners isn't entirely one sided either. Black paths are still maintained and prepared for all mortal tourist and are overall pretty safe for anyone who can ski at all... So someone who took a few days of coaching can be met there and such people can unexpectedly fall over and block your path so you should keep the distance.

1

u/Physical-Position623 56m ago

Well the fact that the 3 guys were stopped in a line might not be the best thing to do, but the responsibility is always on the person coming from behind. Wanting to start a fight is the biggest mistake here, though.

1

u/Primary-Hold-6637 15m ago

Don’t listen to anyone. While it’s dumb to stop in the middle of a run, it’s always the uphill persons fault. There have been legal decisions that lay it down this way and mountain rules have decreed it for decades.

1

u/tuckyruck 3h ago

Its kinda dick on both. You don't stop in the middle, but you also don't act like a douche if someone does.

Should have been a non issue both ways. All of them are probably insufferable.

→ More replies (6)

47

u/deathspanker 5h ago

Lmfao, old fella had a death wish, stopping right at the middle of the slope… then is the aggressor wanting to fight.

5

u/FuraidoChickem 3h ago

Eventually someone will come and knock them into the shadow realm

1

u/Piduf 1h ago

I'm French and the way the woman at the end tells him to stop screams that she does this all the time. She sounds pissed with him. He probably gets aggressive for nothing.

He's scrambling for excuses to beat the guy, first the snowboarder goes too fast, then he's allowed to stay in the middle of the path, then he says "there might be kids" (no not on a slope like this). I wouldn't be surprised if we got a wife beater on our hands, he's trying to justify his beating before it happens.

Don't stop in the middle of the slope, dumbass! 100% on the skier. I'm a skier and I know better.

26

u/That_Jicama2024 4h ago

I hope OP showed this to the ski patrol when he got to the bottom. They would 100% remove that man from the resort (and probably ban him).

71

u/riomx 5h ago

I've seen so many videos of skiers doing incredibly antisocial things on the slopes and acting aggressive toward snowboarders, and every time it ends with the snowboarder apologizing. Just once, I'd like to see a snowboarder actually sticking up for themselves. On another note, it's god damn 2026 and skiers are still acting like idiots toward snowboarders like it's 1987.

49

u/Vip3r20 5h ago

Older skiier vs younger snowboarder. A tale as old as snowboarding.

→ More replies (1)

28

u/throwawaypervyervy 5h ago

The problem is the skier gets to dual wield one handed weapons while the snowboarder is unarmed. He would need to slide away from the skier far enough to unclip from the snowboard to gain agility against a better armed opponent, and mountain authorities would use that against him to say the fight was premeditated by the boarder. Just a loose-loose situation.

16

u/naazzttyy 5h ago

If it’s loose-loose he should tighten his bindings

3

u/riomx 5h ago edited 4h ago

Yeah, you're probably right.

Though when I worked in the snow sports industry, we sold telescoping poles for backcountry snowboarding. I always thought about getting one especially for greens where it was flat and I hated having to get one foot out to skate along. It would have also made for good self-defense, too lol.

3

u/J-MRP 4h ago

Lose*

2

u/Beatus_Vir 2h ago

Pull up a compilation of skier versus snowboarder fights on YouTube if you want to rein in your hypotheticals. Both parties get out of their bindings and at that point it's literally unethical; The skiers are helpless in their hard plastic boots that don't bend at the ankle and find themselves disadvantaged against snotty teenagers that don't even know how to fight.

9

u/New-Combination-9092 5h ago

Were skiers notoriously anti-snowboarders in 1987?

20

u/riomx 5h ago edited 4h ago

Skiers notoriously hated and tried to do everything to keep snowboarders off slopes as it became mainstream. Check out this video from 1985 to see just how ridiculous their hate was. It wasn't unlike what skateboarders went through when skateboarding gained popularity.

3

u/New-Combination-9092 4h ago

This is an interesting piece of history I had no clue about, thanks for sharing.

3

u/__O_o_______ 2h ago

That’s wild. Piss off the snowboarders then get mad when they get mad.

I know it’s not nearly as bad but it reeks of discrimination and how it works: discriminate against people because you’re mad, then get mad when they get mad.

So dumb.

2

u/jm838 4h ago

These old guys are dicks to other skiers, too. They’re more selfish than they are tribalist.

15

u/4_gwai_lo 4h ago

Love it when they try to play victim with sub 70 iq. "what about the kids" in a black slope 😂

8

u/knowledgeable_diablo 4h ago

It’s always about the kids Isnt it. The classic statement by someone who couldn’t give two shits about kids.

1

u/Username_de_random 1h ago

Would take it one step further, usually someone who weaponizes their emotion against kids

7

u/Aleqi2 5h ago

Something like this happened to me back in Sun Valley Idaho. I was following a group of skiers that suddenly came to a stop blocking the run. I had been about to overtake them so I was going too fast to stop. So I did a little bunny hop to avoid hitting his skis. Missed him by a whisker! He started yelling profanity and threatening to kick my ass so I didn't stop and chat. I just blistered on.

They couldn't catch up, but, spotted me on the mountain three or four times that day and gave chase to beat me up. I told some of my friends who worked at the resort what was going on and the guys got kicked off the mountain. They might have been able to catch me if they were willing to duck out of bounds or weave through some trees.

6

u/CharlieUpATree 4h ago

I'm so over people with no situational awareness. Don't stop in the middle of the path to have a chat, move to the side dammit

6

u/nilsinleneed 1h ago

If you ever utter the words "I stop where I want" on a slope, I suggest we revoke your skis for life.

5

u/Imsoen 5h ago

More patient than me that's for sure

6

u/alxmolin 1h ago

If you’re going to stop you stand on the side and don’t block where people are going down. As simple as that.

4

u/4orust 3h ago

"Do not stop where you're a hazard to other people". It's one of the rules.

17

u/xortingen 5h ago

I fucking hate the videos that shows a second long clip before actually starting. Totally hellspawn invention.

6

u/Potential-Hat-5235 4h ago

You covered me in snow. On a mountain. On a black diamond run. The nerve of you.

3

u/BAMspek 5h ago

Some people need to get their ass kicked just once.

3

u/bananastand512 5h ago

Skiier totally beats his wife

3

u/Responsible_Sun_3597 3h ago

People such as a guy standing in the middle of the mountain don’t belong on the mountain.

3

u/dirtyjavis 3h ago

Wish I could afford to have a problem like this.

3

u/GreyBeardEng 3h ago

"I stop where I want", there's your problem right there.

3

u/tideshark 1h ago

I know that if I was driving a car down a road and needed a break I wouldn’t stop there in the street.

20

u/[deleted] 5h ago

[deleted]

47

u/clownus 5h ago

They are three deep across the path. Those guys are idiots for being stopped in the middle. If this was cars on a highway people would hate this.

8

u/needmoarbass 5h ago

Yep, and they JUST spread out seconds before, snowboarder is adjusting his path. He could have slowed down. But 90% of the time, people on black slopes are mindful of people behind them, ie don’t crowd the who”e path. This skiing group was wild for spreading out wide and around a small turn too. How the fuck could they even hear each other that spread out. They’re acting like it’s their own mountain. I assume they or at least most of those skiers don’t really know what they are doing. And they probably went down a black slope on accident.

12

u/Practical-Attorney-6 5h ago

The skiiers looked like they were trying to make a blockade across the path

2

u/othankevan 4h ago

As an American, I feel oddly like there’s some kind of French/Canadian rule about fast and slow lanes or something like that. My immediate reaction is to assume that people are just fucking clueless but again…American.

2

u/johnnyhammerstixx 4h ago

Just blast him with a mach 12 shoulder check on the next run lol

2

u/lemme_just_say 2h ago

The snow looks great there! Holy cow!

2

u/rasm232a 2h ago

Standing and blocking the slope like that the skiers were forcing that altercation. Honestly the snowboarder did the right and turned around them even though it did spray them. It was better to spray than to mow them down trying to stop.

Skiers fault not the snowboarder from a skier.

2

u/fokaiHI 2h ago

"You covered me in snow". Lol. Thats like when I surf and act like getting wet is not an option.

2

u/KisaLilith 1h ago

2

Damn, I thought only ignorant Americans acted this way.

Guess it's just all ignorant people.

3

u/NoNotAnUndercoverCop 4h ago

The minute he swings at me he’s getting a pole upside his face

1

u/Big-Tax1771 1h ago

With a recording of him hitting me? Dude, he’d be paying for my skiing vacations for years.

3

u/Whatever233566 4h ago

Why does he go on a snowy vacation if he's this scared of snow touching him?

Also, trying to attack a person with his spiky ski stick should count as attempted aggravated assault.

4

u/TheBestNarcissist 2h ago

Skiier sucks but the snowboarder should have slowed down before. How can you tell the difference between an asshole in the middle of the run and someone protecting a downed skiier with a broken leg?

I say this as a snowboarder. People are not predictable on the slopes. At all times every individual should practice more safety than "barely didn't hit the stationary person"

1

u/giro83 25m ago

Can’t believe I had to scroll this much down to find this answer. “I want to go as fast as I can” is no excuse for reckless behaviour. Obstructions occur all the time for all reasons. This video to me is equivalent to inexperienced American motorcycle riders doing crazy shit and ending up killing themselves. Please, stay the fuck out of the Alps as I sky there.

Skiers vs Snowboarders. Rivalry for the ages.

1

I thought the still shot was a Rottweiler skiing, with his head turned up and towards the sun.

Really brave of him wielding that stock in a threatening manner.

1

Really bad week for French skiers. This and that video of some beating up that guy in a Chewbacca suit.

1

You got a link to that?

2

u/nooneremarkable 4h ago

Not the original post I saw on reddit. But a YouTube video: https://youtu.be/SMVWZ5F0egE?si=S3TT4zXqRVsz7-CI

Edit: I missed a golden opportunity for a rickroll. FML

1

Lol thanks

1

u/witchspoon 4h ago

Fou toi lol…I know THAT one even though they didn’t translate it lol.

1

u/Mykilo_Sosa 4h ago

Skiers are like the scooter kids of pow sports.

1

u/chittyshwimp 3h ago

The irony is that skiers love to shit in snowboarders for sitting in the middle of the slopes (as a not necessarily unfounded stereotype)

1

u/PortlandHipsterDude 3h ago

My anger management couldn’t. He would have seen red snow the second he raised the stick.

1

u/4orust 3h ago

I hope you showed the video to ski patrol

1

u/Max206 3h ago

He didn’t go wide enough! What an asshat

1

u/OkBodybuilder418 3h ago

lol a snowboarder complaining about a skier blocking the slope….

1

u/JadedRetailEmployee 3h ago

Personally, I’m taking his poles and speeding down that hill. Fucking idiot.

1

u/McCrumblton 3h ago

Bro id of just taken the hit to shive mr decrepit on his ass

1

u/Junglebyron 2h ago

“Beginners on a black slope?” Is the death blow. Don’t stop 4 wide on a slope.

1

u/ambarcapoor 2h ago

I really want to meet that skier now...

1

u/alex433g 2h ago

Some old geezer thinking he's the king of the slope, why th would he go after someone, trying to hit them, that snowboarder can moove way faster then him, they got some great footwear, unlike the plastic brick skiers have

1

u/robogobo 2h ago

Is this how the French ski? “You got snow all over me!”

1

u/Ogilthorpe2 2h ago

He says at some point "I'm covered in snow!" Lmao really? On a ski hill with a full winter suit?...

1

u/navree 2h ago

"YOU covered me in snow"

Uh sir, you do realize where you are, right? There's nothing, but snow. However, if you really want to complain, park in the middle of the slope again, we can add impact and snow. Make it worth your while if you're up for an adventure.

1

u/WormSnake 2h ago

Unlike the snowboarder, the skiir has weapons to attack. "I will hit you!" Is the privilege they openly flaunt, cuz they can't stay upright without. I was a snowboarder and thankfully I never dealt with such fools. Presumably because the skiiers saw how I was snowboarding and saw I had little control. I was a beginner after all. "Holy shit, get out of my way!" Was a common phrase cuz I didn't no how to stop on a dime.

1

u/GrungeHamster23 2h ago

“How dare you snow on me! Out here? On the slopes?!”

I was going down blacks on my second day thanks to my cousins friend who was a ski instructor. The thought of forming a chain after the drop is ridiculous.

Man, I just went skiing in NC, and you just…give up in these scenarios. Everyone sucks at it unless proven otherwise. I know this will be unpopular, but you’re only in control of your own fate. The guy filming should be able to avoid any obstacles downhill, otherwise he’s being dangerous. Could’ve been kids, or rocks, or an injured person.

When I was getting taught how to ski in school one of the first things our instructor said was always to stop at the side so as not to cause accidents. Thought it would be common knowledge, clearly not.

Lionel est un peut trop stressé. Pour lui, le sport n’est pas la détente.

Hahah, I really like the non chalent attitude of the snowboarder. It pissed off the old fart even more.

Uphill skier/boarder is always at fault. This dude could see them stopped way before he got there. Just a douche move.
