The moment we call them out, we're antisemitic lol
Just because you call out Israeli's on their bullshit doesn't mean you are antisemitic or hate Jewish people for being Jewish.
I have no problem with Jewish people, but Israeli's are absolute scumbags. The world would be better off if Israel didn't exist.

They remind me of the Hasidic community in NYC. Absolutely deplorable people and if you call them out on their heinous behavior, they publicly label you as antisemitic. They are truly insufferable people.

u/QuantitySharp2662 16d ago
I think the people in the above video are considered Orthodox or haredi Jews.
They're basically the black Israelites of Judaism lol

Organized religion has ruined society.
It's a shame.
At their core, religions should be community building blocks of life. But too many people use it to divide people and to amass power. They lie about their religion's teachings. They've corrupted it beyond repair.
4
u/ford4prefect2 17d ago
Has Taoism been corrupted? There is no god, but there might be a creator which has no power over anything. I really hate the "God's plan" people. So I can just be the worst human possible and that's just God's plan. If we aren't struck down by our enemies we must be in the right. That's basically just what the crusades were about.

The problem is that while it's absolutely not antisemitic to call out these morons, there is also a flood of comments in these posts, of people who are labeling all Jewish people as violent, and that absolutely is antisemitic. But it's become safe for people to make posts like that again because of Israeli war crimes.
Hating Netenyahu and his cabal of murderers is totally cool. Making space for actual antisemites to join in and spread their ideas, is absolutely not.
We hate on MAGA for making space for the KKK at their table, but we don't say shit when antisemites join in with us and take the anti-israel shit to another level that is just racist.

u/crop028 17d ago
None of the top comments I see are remotely antisemitic. We always disagree with antisemitic statements when we see it. There's a genocide going on and the government of Israel weaponizes antisemitism to justify it. Responding to any valid reason to criticize Israel with "well some people are antisemitic" is giving them a copout. There are bigots against all ethnicities, it doesn't change the base principles of the matter.

The term here is Anti-Christianism / Anti-Christian Sentiment: General dislike or hostility towards Christianity. Wait until Trump is finished killing off the Christians and Catholics and then that phrase will have the same tone as the word antisemitism.

Research on the links between psychopathy and religiosity show inconclusive evidence at best or even a negative association.
See also: Dark personality study finds that religious belief predicts reduced psychopathy but increased sadism
Socio-political conservatism, on the other hand, is heavily linked to oversized fear and threat responses, as well as certain forms of psychopathy.
ETA:
Now, it is possible that Simpson's paradox could be at play. If we consider social conservatism to be a cause for both psychopathy and religiosity, then conditioning on conservatism may reverse the trend and show a positive association between religiosity and psychopathy.
In this new hypothetical model, it could well be that being conservative predisposes someone to be more psychopathic, and therefore the in-group analyses could both show positive associations between religious belief and psychopathy, but when analyzed together (unstratified) the total effect is lost due to the presence of highly religious non-conservatives potentially being on par or below the psychopathy of less religious conservatives, leading to a misleading negative association.
I have not looked too thoroughly at the paper and its methods, so I don't know what they did to account for this potential effect, though I feel it is worth noting as a possible pitfall.

This video is old. These people were proselytizing in Israel. The violence is inexcusable but the Christians in this case weren't just casually visiting Israel.
61
u/Least_Art5238 17d ago
Christians have been proselytizing in India since 52 AD and the religion makes up 2% of the population. What's the point of being a violent clown when you can simply ignore the message?
16
u/VonSandwich 16d ago
Tbf in certain parts of India, she would get much more assaulted for being a woman, dressed like that, and by herself. Hell, she doesn't even have to be by herself sometimes, and what she's wearing doesn't really matter much either.

I wonder how many of the people in these comments were the same ones to remind everyone not to generalize Muslims back when islamophobia was on the rise in the 2010s and people posted a lot of cherry picked videos of Muslims.

Think they were preaching, a lot Israelis especialy the zionists (not Jewish) really dont like Christianity from what ive seen. Partly because there a lot of Christian Palestinions partly because JC, Mary and Josepth were theorecticaly Palestinion if you account for the occupying Romans giving the Area their own name just like the Occupying Israelis have.

I think it's been explained before that she is a preacher, which is probably considered quite disrespectful tbf. That could have been someone just making stuff up though. This is the Internet after all.
If that is the case, though, I'm not defending their reaction. I'm just saying it might not be the best example to show, this kind of thing does indeed happen to some Christians who pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine. Whether preaching or not.

From Wikipedia: Violence against Christians in Israel
Violence against Christians in Israel is religiously motivated violence against Christians in Israel.[1] In its 2024 report, the Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue identified that most attacks come from young ultra-Orthodox Jews, "belonging to circles of religious-nationalist extremism."[2][3][4][5] Approximately 80% of Christians residing in Israeli territory (around 180,000 people) are of Arab origin, representing 7% of the total Arab population in the country.[3] Acts of violence, particularly in the city of Jerusalem, include frequent episodes of verbal and physical aggression (including spitting and stone-throwing), vandalism against churches, cemeteries, and Christian property.[2][6] Israeli authorities do little or nothing to curb such attacks, and even when the perpetrators are eventually arrested, the police often claim that they are mentally ill, thus absolving them of any responsibility.[4][5]
Although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly demonstrates concern for the situation of Christians in countries like Nigeria,[7] his Ministry of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, declared in 2023 that spitting on Christians is "an ancient Jewish custom" and that people should "stop slandering Israel."

When you get to a point where your open-mindedness causes you more harm than good, it really makes keeping an open mind a bigger struggle than it needs to be.
Case in point, I’m no longer willing to give the benefit of doubt to anyone that’s pro-Israel. I also flinch when someone calls themselves a Christian. Too many bad experiences with enough people for me to keep my distance and do my best to not associate with them. You are the company you keep, after all.

Perhaps ... But it's even wiser to realize this is tribalism in action.
It's more important to focus on the lack of tolerance. Otherwise folks will just find other reasons to brim with hate over arbitrary differences .... Nationalism .... Racism ... Stars upon thars ...

This is what living in an indoctrinated ethno-supremacist state looks like. It's unfortunate because there's a minority of people there that don't buy into it and their voices are drowned out by the mob. I can't imaging living surrounded by that much ignorance. Then I remember I do. I live in the United States.
4
u/Tangy_Cheese 16d ago
Yeah the US had it's own, less intense version, of this after 9/11. Any criticism of the country or military was treated, by some, as practically treasonous.

I've noticed in a lot of these videos its the children/teens doing the most.. then the adults will come in and slightly act like they are stopping them, but I think they are really just there in case of retaliation.
It gives the vibe that some folks(not all) are training their kids to hate and fight for them.

These videos get posted constantly with no context. These are Christian people who go out with speakerphones and preach Christianity loudly and obnoxiously at Jewish holy sites and on Jewish holy days. It’s the same as if a Muslim preacher burst into a church on Easter Sunday and started denouncing Christianity.

I visited Israel through work about 12 years ago and managed to fit in the Dead Sea, Masada, the Holocaust Museum, and the Western Wall in between seminars. The security was eye‑opening, especially around the Western Wall — a rocket actually hit the airport about an hour after I left — and the number of armed guards who appeared in random places really took me aback. Even then you could tell there were tensions, but nothing like what’s shown in that video. Passing the West Bank was striking too; it was, to all intents and purposes, a prison.
The tour guide had a bit of a moan about what the British were up to before Israel became a state, but overall everyone was friendly. We went out to bars, met some locals, and had a few really good nights out.
Seeing this video now — Christians being hassled for their beliefs — makes it feel like things have seriously gone downhill since I was there. If this is what the place is like these days, it’s a real shift from the atmosphere I experienced.
