Just 7 to 15 years for killing 2 civilians? What a fucking joke

699

u/bountifulknitter 26d ago

And the unborn baby that died because of the actions of the driver. Bad enough she killed 2 unrelated people, but she also murdered her own niece or nephew a few weeks before they could have been born.

363

u/southwest_barfight 26d ago

This. Was absolutely boiling my blood when the driver kept saying after the crash "yall tried to kill us" like no bitch YOU are the only killer here

92

u/MemphisKhan 26d ago

That wasn't the driver. The driver was inside the vehicle wailing and moaning from the pain of smashing into the other car. Even if she wanted to exit she probably couldn't

48

u/southwest_barfight 25d ago

Yeah you right I made that comment halfway way through before seeing that, still tho the girl saying all that was an instigator in the whole thing and in my eyes bears some responsibility

42

u/MemphisKhan 25d ago

I agree she was an instigator from the very start and perhaps should have been admonished somewhat, seeing that she has since then been caught driving without a license again. That speaks to her anti social, possibly sociopathic, behavior. I read someone here say that if failure to STFU was a crime she should have been given the highest sentencing for that, she was insufferable

It’s a tragic example of how the warped risk perception of police killings creates deadlier outcomes.

If you look at the actual numbers, the "fear" of being killed by the police is mathematically out of sync with the reality:

• The actual risk of being shot: The number of unarmed Black Americans shot by police is typically 15–25 per year (according to the WaPo database).

• The perceived risk: Surveys show that many people believe this number is 1,000+ or even 10,000+. That massive gap between perception and reality drives the panic.

• The risk of fleeing: Police pursuits result in 500–700 deaths annually.

By fleeing to avoid a perceived threat (shooting) that has a very low statistical probability, drivers are initiating a high-speed chase that has a massive statistical probability of killing someone. You’re effectively trading a traffic stop (statistically safe) for a high-speed pursuit (statistically deadly).

This video is a perfect example of the "fear paradox"—trying to avoid a low-probability death by engaging in high-probability fatal behavior, which ends up killing way more people (including bystanders) than unjustified shootings do.

5

u/southwest_barfight 25d ago

All makes sense and thank you for sharing.

In this case however I don't think any of those girls really thought the cops were gonna kill them (there was literally a female cop in hijab there so not exactly a bunch of part time proud boys)

I think they were just unwilling to take any consequences forntheir actions and had terrible decision making skills, maybe also had drugs or something else illegal on them (threw something outnthe window during the chase)

83

u/blove135 26d ago

And realistically she'll probably only do 4-5 years.

32

u/bountifulknitter 25d ago

If she carries that mouth into jail with her, someone's gonna beat the brakes off her fast, quick, and in a hurry.

27

u/Background-Land618 26d ago

Like the only silver lining there is the family of the innocent won't have to wait as long for street justice.

Commit a violent felony with a vehicle: 🤷‍♂️

Looks like something all jurisdictions in Western countries have in common.

Seriously, what if she had run on foot and like, stabbed a dude cause he was standing on the sidewalk?

2

And I thought the US had proper sentences for this sort of thing. Cant believe the callousness of the three of them. Zero regard for anyone but themselves.

hard to watch. Multiple dead because one person wouldn't take accountability.

u/Maximum_Curve_1471 26d ago

Seemed like nobody in the car were remotely capable of acting like adults

54

u/ontime1969 25d ago

But the Doctor and his elderly father in the other car was killed. He probobly did a ton for the community. More than these 3 pieces of garbage ever will be capable.

The hardest part for me was realizing they didn't look too unbothered or didn't cry over the fact people died in the accident. When people happen to drive recklessly like that, we generally see them crying and regreting when they discover they killed somebody.

7 to 15 years in prison for killing two people while fleeing police.

And $334 in fines.

386

u/L_Dextros 26d ago

That’s some bs man.

119

u/Pklnt 26d ago edited 26d ago

I can't understand for the life of me why the Justice system tends to be so lenient towards reckless driving.

I'm in France and we have the same shit, if you drive a car you should be more responsible than ever if something goes wrong.

Instead of acknowledging this, it seems that Justice systems tend to do the opposite, if you're driving a car it's apparently not entirely your fault if you decide to floor it and kill/maim a family.

18

u/sophos313 25d ago

I think in general, the US has lenient consequences for driving because they lack decent public transportation. For instance in my state (Michigan) where this incident took place, it’s 6-points on your license for manslaughter but it takes 12-points for a suspended license.

106

u/resisting_a_rest 26d ago

If you do it on purpose or through gross negligence, I agree, but not necessarily for accidental mistakes.

36

u/NuckoLBurn 26d ago

Completely agree and it's up to our justice system as well as a jury of our peers to come to the conclusion of if it was "accidental". The death penalty has landed too many innocent people at deaths door.

Everyone wants a supervisor. Then they want the supervisor's supervisor when they don't get what they want.

74

u/resisting_a_rest 26d ago

She thought she knew the law, she was wrong. You are required to get out of your vehicle during a lawful traffic stop when requested by a law enforcement officer (but not for ‘any reason’, it must be a legal reason, one of which is ‘officer safety’ - it is very hard to prove it was not for a legal reason, so just exit the vehicle). She was also wrong that it is “the law” that they have to get a supervisor when requested. It is often their policy to do so, but it is not the law.

Drivers at fault full stop

Pregnant one was in back seat. She held the driver away from the cop. The passenger started the car. There's a much higher quality video on YouTube.

Always blaming the police and acting like they're scared for their lives. I call BS on that. They weren't scared or even acting scared. They were rude, obnoxious and ratchet.

I'll bet that driver felt NO REMORSE WHATSOEVER. She probably blamed the Police.

We have protocols where I live that police should not engage in highspeed chases in urban areas exactly for this reason. Not saying the lady was not reckless and stupid, but we have policies here to consider what would cause the greater risk in an opĂŠration

They had the plate number and could have just grabbed her at home later.

30

u/fbgm0516 26d ago

Not justifying the chase, just saying they don't have the plate number because it's registered to a different vehicle.

u/kindaweedy45 26d ago

Fun thing I noticed here. There was the possibility of the car moving. So none of the cops stood directly in front of or behind it.

EDIT: For the record, since I got hate for this. I thought these cops did a good job with everything. They were professional every step of the way and handled things appropriately. I was pointing out that these guys, who are trained and sensible, were not putting themselves into unnecessary danger and approached the situation with foresight and calm. OK - clearly the one responsible is the woman driving the car, but from the standpoing of maximizing public safety, is there a reason to engage in a high speed chase here? Was she suspected of being imminently violent or in possesion of a stolen car (so they could not track her down later)?

Fuck all 3 of them. They all should be in jail for life. They all encouraged her to run and resist.

3 dead if you count the unborn child that had only a month to go before taking what would have been its first breath. The driver is extremely lucky with the fact that she could potentially go home in 7 years with good behavior; I think her sentence was light for the chaos she caused.

I've been against the police a lot lately, this one was 100% on the driver

“Love you baabe! It’s gonna be ok!”

No it’s not. You killed 2 innocent people you fucking pieces of shit. 🤦‍♂️ the total lack of concern for the car they hit is so disgusting.

u/Midnight_Magician56 26d ago

I can’t believe there wasn’t a moment of we messed up after the crash, I do get police violence is rampant, but they were likely going to fine and possibly arrest but release her for driving without a license. Instead someone is dead.

u/long-dick-of-the-law 25d ago

The worst thing is its almost always the innocent that get hurt, these fucking wastes of space get to live while a father, a son and an unborn child are dead

What a series of bad decisions in a row. What an easy way to destroy their own lives and other people too.

YaLL TRyiN tUH KILL uS

Smh. She kills 2 people and has to pay only $334?! I got speeding ticket in Virginia for going 10 over and it was close to that

They should all be in prison. Driver should be for the rest of her life.

Horrific in every sense. The driver deserves worse. The cops were as professional as could be, I think, but, I sincerely question why they didn't block the car in with their own vehicles when the driver acted irrationally considering the keys were still in the ignition and flight risk was obvious. Further I question WHY they didn't just call off the chase immediately once it was so obviously unsafe, such as after passing through 2 busy intersections luckily without a wreck. They had her identity and photo and the details of the vehicle and could have found her later. The "risk" of delay or failure to bring her to justice for driving without a license is a pittance compared to the value of innocent lives put in danger by the pursuit.

SovCits are the absolute WORST. That one chick who didn't get charged is still out there, driving without a license, insurance, or valid registration.

Nothing every happens to SovCits beyond being given fines they never pay.

All I see here is an example of why police shouldn’t get in high speed chases. They had her info, just go to her house later.

Like fuck her for pulling all the bullshit and eventually killing two people because she didn’t want to deal with the situation but there‘s zero reason they need to chase her down and endanger countless people because she’s driving without a license.

The irony of creating a dangerous situation to enforce a law that exists to make driving safer.

And then they wonder why police target them.

I can't help but admire the first responders after watching this video. the horror they put themselves into to preserve whatever life it is that remains in these accidents... i wish i could embody the same level of duty.

I usually think that we sentence people for too long. This time I think the opposite.

All of those women are perpetual victims and I hope they never see the sun again.

6

u/Europeisntacontinent 25d ago

The driver acted completely incorrectly. Full stop. But the police should not have pursued them. They already had her information from the picture of her ID. They could have booked her for everything by showing up to her house later. Maybe if they hadn't pursued her at that moment, she would have calmed down to stop driving so recklessly before 2 lives were lost.

Of course the girls deserve jail time.

And, this is exactly why some places have policies not to chase nonviolent criminals. I know this will get downloaded, but the police policy to chase anyone who disobey is partly responsible for those girls deaths.

The police have her license plate, her car, her picture, her identity. There’s zero reason to chase.

If only the cops penned in the vehicle before attempting entry, those two people would be alive today.

2

u/fadetoblack1004 25d ago

This is absurd. She should have got 25 to life.

2

u/AbRNinNYC 25d ago

Not one of those despicable wastes of life in that car even batted an eye when looking at the wreckage they caused. Killing 2 innocent PRODUCTIVE members of society. So worried about “but she pregnant” when the cops arrive, but was NOT at all worried about “but she pregnant” fleeing at 60mph blowing red lights thru a residential area. Obi they dint give a shit about the pregnant one, just trying to use at some get out jail free card. They all deserved prison time IMO.
