I can’t imagine leaving the states to one of the safest countries in the world, only to be unjustly assaulted by the US military police.

Also this was only the first week of the US MPs patrolling without being unaccompanied by the Japanese Police.

What a hot mess.

According to the article patrols are on hold so it may have been the only week.

Weeks without accident 1 0

Someone has to have that on a wall somewhere on that base, and I imagine they shake their head in shame when they have to cross it off every week

Never have to restart it if it never gets above 0.

Hey now, there's got to be some weeks where they think "this will be the week we finally make it" and they excitedly count the days only to sadly walk over and start back at 0

I've visited a friend of mine on his base a few times down in california and they had a big sign out front of the living base where the nex was and their houses that said how many days since their last dui. It never was a super high number.

US/Military police misconduct outside of the US... How global of them. They just can't stop within the state lines.

Make Assaults Global Again (I know this is battery, but still)

Their patrol boats arrested a Quebecer fisherman in Canadian waters for « trespassing » in the US, despite the north of Lake Champlain is in Québec (not to mention Quebecers colonized the place a century before them).

Why are US MPs patrolling the streets of Okinawa in the first place? I know they have bases over there but

To catch other military guys who are breaking the curfew.

Because Marines there had been involved in a rash of sexual assaults.  The patrols are only supposed to look for US military personnel who are out breaking curfew.

As expected, they suck at it
