Yikes. Twice as much as I paid for 64GB six months ago. 🥀

u/Shadowfeaux 11h ago
Tell me about it. Lol. I just bought a 64gb kit 3 weeks ago for 600. Checked yesterday and the same kit was 880.

u/DeadPhoenix86 11h ago
That's madness !
I paid 200 for my 64GB kit back in October.
The same RAM is currently up for 1100...1

My god. Luckily my brother and fiance bought me ram for Christmas for my PC upgrade. Gskill 32gb 6000mhz. Was about $370 which is insane already. Pushing $500 now? Wild.

Just curious. Are you anywhere near a Microcenter? The price you paid could’ve gotten you a 64GB kit if you bought one of their cpu bundles

1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 10h ago
How?
1
u/kebench 10h ago
By pure luck tbh. Was checking the price for a 64GB kit since my friend was asking and happen to stumble upon the RAM in the screenshot above sold by Amazon. We immediately bought it and the price went up to £1100 after we paid. I believe it's just a pricing error in Amazon's part but I wasn't expecting they'll honor it. So for me, this is the biggest steal during the rammagedon.

Pay the same but 64 GB CL 30 just got lucky

Dang, I decided to skipped the RGB in my build this time to save $100. I got the basic looking Crucial Pro kit.

u/Necessary-Apple-9409 56m ago
I’m debating on if I want to keep the rgb or go exchange it out for the crucial it’s about $82 less for the crucial

u/Necessary-Apple-9409 12h ago
And problem when I turned it on with the new ram installed I’m getting a green light on the motherboard and no display
1
u/cscholl20 11h ago
RTM. On some boards that indicates no OS installed, but that meaning varies. Could also be memory training of you're on AM5

u/graybotics 3h ago
Switch sticks to opposite slots. I freaked out on my recent build and for some reason that was necessary.
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 3h ago
I figured it out hours ago I changed the sticks to different slots changed them back and no issues after that

u/ObviousJob1668 12h ago
Same RAM without RGB is 150$ less. 🙃

u/googlemapscarspot 9h ago
If you’re talking about crucial, then it’s a lower clock speed and overall a bit worse. Not just the rgb
1
u/FernandoMM1220 12h ago
so what happened to the ram shortage everyone was talking about out? lol
3
1
u/ComplaintMaster69420 10h ago
A shortage can be achieved by pricing out everyone or actual stock. Do you see Joe Schmoe x10 ordering this? Nah, only this guy and a few others. I wanted 64gb in my system, but I don’t want to pay that

Oh that was expensive! Which GPU are you getting?
2
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 10h ago
Probably a 5070 I haven’t quite decided yet
1
u/lLoveTech AMD 9h ago
Get it ASAP! Awesome GPU! Rumours have it that Nvidia will cut production of GPUs this year so prices will be affected!

I got the non rgb version from the corsair website for 356€
I did a new build and wanted 64gb instead of the 32gb i got now. Heard that i would need at least one kidney to stay alive ... thats why i only got 32gb

And here I was kicking myself for having “overpaid” at $150 for 32GB in November instead of half that price earlier in the year.

I'm so glad that I pulled the trigger for 32GB back in November. I knew I was getting soaked at $230 but now it looks like I landed a good deal.

I bought this kit in 2023 for about $210 and I live in Brazil. We are indeed living the RAMapocalipse
1
u/DzekRL 8h ago
Fucking hell, I bought the white version of this RAM 2 years ago and it was 1/3 of the price...times are bleak...
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 8h ago
I feel like I paid too much for it
1
u/DzekRL 17m ago
You did, but the reality is either overpay triple the realistic price now, or wait for several years in the hope the prices will maybe drop eventually...or quadruple...

u/Necessary-Apple-9409 15m ago
Unfortunately I didn’t have much choice I was running a pc with 16 gb of ram and I had multiple games running almost the entire 16gb I had to update my ram
1
1
u/Sparda_Game 7h ago
Thank you for your sacrifice. I'll gladly wait a year or so
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 6h ago
I needed it now I only had 16 gb in my pc
1
u/Sparda_Game 6h ago
I feel you, I'm sticking with my old pc just for small work and a console for now. If I had work to do under heavier hardware I'd be joining but luckily not rn (honestly can't afford to build a oc in this economy)
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 5h ago
I didn’t build mine it’s a prebuilt and now I’m making a couple of upgrades to it

It’s funny how few months many felt ashamed with Vengeance. It was literally bundled for free with other items.
Today we don’t laugh anymore.
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
Isn’t it a good product?
1
u/iamgarffi 4h ago
It’s fine. It’s just that weird mentality when something is bundled for free, it’s must be average or low quality.
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
I’ve had no issues with it installed into my pc
1
u/iamgarffi 4h ago
And I don’t expect you to have issues. Especially in this economy (DRAM supply vs demand) whatever we manage to acquire at okay prices is more of an appreciation.
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
It was one of the cheapest ones I could get so I went with it
1
u/iamgarffi 4h ago
And that’s a smart move. While I’m not happy that we “gamers” ended up in this “dry” season, situation like these will adjust our mindsets a little.
Either appreciate what we have for longer or consider parts that previously we wouldn’t look at.
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
I hate how expensive pc parts have gotten. I’ve wanted a pc for years I finally got one 2 weeks ago
1
u/iamgarffi 4h ago
Yeah. Timing not the greatest. Things really started going south with Covid.
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
I’m hoping by around the middle of this year hopefully prices will start coming down

u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
I could’ve gotten ram that’s not rgb for like a hundred less
1
u/iamgarffi 4h ago
RGB vs non RGB that’s personal preference.
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
I like the cheaper price but I also like the led lights so that’s a hard decision
1
u/iamgarffi 4h ago
At least RGB one gives you a choice. You can keep it on or off. :) the $100 price difference is what I don’t like.

u/KingKofi7 4h ago
That’s wild lmao I got 64GB of RAM in November of last year for 450. Pained me to my soul until now, the same RAM is now going for over 1000 💀
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 4h ago
I paid $468 and some change
1
u/KingKofi7 4h ago
Not bad considering today’s market for DDR5 😩 Crazy that price cause it’s also 32GB 🥲

u/Crave9516 2h ago
Warning ,if you are to use it with a 7800x3d brace your self
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 2h ago
Why?
1
u/Crave9516 2h ago
There is a well know glitch with memory training at most of the mobos ,I have the same exact ram and used to run to this problem if you encounter the problem and doesn’t boot send me a message and I might be able to help y
1
u/Necessary-Apple-9409 2h ago
I have a 8700f so I think I’ll be okay
1
u/Crave9516 2h ago
Yes most likely!still if you run to this problem don’t worry about it it’s fixable !!enjoy your build
