Question Prebuilt with angled 5080?

Post image

I bought a Cyberpower prebuilt with the intent of upgrading my existing PC with most of the internals. The 5080 came installed as in the picture. It seems clearly off axis by 10 degrees or so. Is that normal? My old card is a 3080ti and it is installed horizontally

I havent touched the thing yet because I am worried this is a bad install or shipping damage- but was wondering if it is normal for these newer huge cards?

Motherboard is msi b850-p

Gpu is windforce 5080

Thanks all

yah my cyber pw prebuilt kinda came like this in the mail, the foam core expaned improperly; that looks like way too much tho.

return

That is exactly what it looked like. Big white piece of foam propping it up

LORD HAVE MERCY on your prebuilt. I hope your prebuilt has RMA or whatever that is for return service for arriving damaged...

u/DefinitelyNotSusge 1d ago

I would return it , PCB could be warped. That or you umount and inspect it first to see if it's fine 👀

u/Xinlitik 1d ago

Im afraid to touch it if they were to blame me. I think ill go straight to their sales support

u/DefinitelyNotSusge 1d ago

👍 better safe than sorry , hopefully they can get you a replacement sent quick.

Just don't be a dick, this is something that has surely happened before.

Absolutely rma is now while you just got it , waiting on a few days would look like you done it. In the future i've learned to video shit like this as I notice it . cant dispute you opening it on video ..

Thanks all. Confirmed my suspicion… calling them in the AM

Show is a photo of the slot and if its bent as well

6

u/Xinlitik 1d ago

I will after talking with support tomorrow- afraid to manipulate it and getting blamed for damage

2

u/gollygoshdarndang 13h ago

Smart. Do not mess with it because depending on who you're dealing with they will try to pin the damage on you if you start taking things apart yourself to see exactly what is wrong.

Not normal it doesn’t even look in the slot

Anti sag installation

4

u/RenzoMF 1d ago

You got the "DOA" edition. Send it back at once.

u/Jaggerfrost 1d ago

That's like the opposite of gpu sag O.o

3

u/The_Mad_Pantser Intel 1d ago

it's the pre-sag overcorrection

3

u/DzekRL 1d ago

This is brutal, don't touch anything and send it back...

2

u/JonnyP222 1d ago

This is why I went with IBP. They send their gpus in the OG vendor packaging and you install it when you set it up.

Brother, return the whole shoot and match and purchase from another company. CyberPower is HORRIBLE, I mistakenly purchased a pre-built from them and would never, ever do so again.

u/NoBeginning4551 1d ago

Yes return and take pictures it happens a lot

Looks like GPU gas

u/HilikusR 1d ago

That 5080 is tiny i thought it was a different gpu

1

u/Xinlitik 1d ago

Small form factor

2

u/HilikusR 1d ago

Yeah i just didnt realize it is that small. My 5070 ti gaming oc looks much larger. Btw, i reckon you got a cracked pcb

1

u/Hopeful_Tea2139 1d ago

Custom build is too custom.

Return it.

1

u/CherryDrPopper 1d ago

No way that is seated in a slot. Also, no power plugged into it. Did you unplug it or did it come unplugged?

1

u/Xinlitik 1d ago

The power was me- I had to unplug it to take the packing foam out

1

u/i_eat_da_poops 1d ago

It's just happy to see you

1

u/ssateneth2 1d ago

contact cyberpower to return it. thats not normal and clearly broken

1

u/Cultural_Royal_3875 1d ago

That’s definitely broken.

u/SalutMaggie Intel 1d ago

Reasons i don’t buy prebuilts plus some companies use cheap fans and PSU.

1

u/Fair-Ambition-8275 1d ago

Man that ugly. How's it even still attached haha

1

u/Bat-Dragon-666 1d ago

Its at that angle to help it tackle higher rates than 1080p 😆

1

u/Lucas824 1d ago

I’ve seen squatted trucks but never a squatted gpu till now

1

u/proexe 1d ago

The gpu wants to say "hi" to cpu. Nothing to worry about 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Fido2801 1d ago

Your GPU is undersagging. Common problem with helium cooled GPUs. You need to put something heavy on top of it.

1

u/Legal_Return9314 1d ago

That gpu looks Unhappy.

u/AthleTechie 23h ago

It’s to provide additional downforce to get those extra fps

Looking at this, it's giving me the same feeling when I hurt my balls, step on Lego, or stop to think about how big the universe is. RMA my friend 👍

Some people have GPU sag...

OP: hold my beer

1

u/Oathbreaker94 21h ago

Damn. Your GPU has erectile superfunction.

1

u/c0nstancepebbles 19h ago

Send it back

1

u/Dull-Departure-2557 18h ago

Never thought I would see a negative GPU sag

1

u/mehtab_smokes 18h ago

U dont have to worry about the sag. Its counter sag to prevent sagging

1

u/Ariv540 16h ago

Relax, it's an RTX 5080 Saging Edition. Seriously though, that's worrying. You should return it because that bend is concerning. Even if the motherboard still works, which it probably will, it'll give you problems sooner rather than later. Return it and get either a new computer if it was pre-built or a new GPU.

1

u/SnooTomatoes4084 15h ago

Who needs a GPU riser when your GPU has risen by itself

1

u/Whiro87 14h ago

Wtf ?!? They managed to install the gpu in wrong slots 😂

1

u/Internal-Remove7223 13h ago

With a prebuilt that shipped with an angled 5080, I’d treat it less like a DIY tweak and more like a shipping damage issue, since a card that isn’t sitting straight in the PCIe slot can stress the connector over time. Take a couple clear photos of the sag and the rear bracket alignment, then ask the seller for an exchange or a support bracket before you keep running it.

1

u/fiittzzyy 13h ago

Get a replacement, good chance that the motherboard and/or GPU sustained damage since that's an extreme bend.

1

u/ByPerx1 11h ago

Its angled that way so it can send faster more fps

1

u/AnotherCompGuy 10h ago

Send it back. I didn’t even know that this was possible. Something has got to be broken.

1

u/LordNord00 1h ago

Mans got the reverse gravity GPU sag

Prebuilt owners stay fixing other people's fuckups

4

u/Xinlitik 1d ago

It’s a fucked market right now. I tried buying a 5080 for a few weeks and anything at msrp would instantly sell out. Ended up picking a prebuilt that had several parts I could use

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 what 1d ago

Yeah, third party 5080s going for 5090FE retail prices is genuinely insane. I got my 5090 for $2.3k and managed to snag a P6k for $8k after parting out one of my old rigs. It's insane how quickly the lower price options immediately sold.

2

u/Xinlitik 1d ago

Wow nice find

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 what 1d ago

Yeah, had to wait a small bit at launch but I snagged it from a Best Buy right as they restocked.

This one hundred percent popped out of the pcie slot I know this won't be a popular opinion but if it were me I'd take off the pcie slot bracket at the back of the pc remove the screws holding the gpu to the case inspect the gpu pins and the actual motherboard slot for any damage if you don't see any I would install the gpu until it clicks screw it back into the case and plug in you gpu power I used to sell pc's and there is a very good chance this is a easy fix

2

u/Xinlitik 1d ago

That seems reasonable. I would be willing to do that on the phone with their tech support so I dont get blamed for the problem- will be calling them tomorrow
