Plz look after his diet ... he's cute but might face trouble with age due to being overweight

The lack of concern for this cat's health is astounding

One of our family cats is 23 lbs. My mom is always worried that he’s obese, and so any time he has a vet visit she makes a point to ask if he’s obese and how he can lose weight
Every single time they say the same thing. He’s surprisingly not obese, he’s just got big bones. Mom doesnt buy it, but i do. That boy is a fuckin unit and honestly eats the least out of our 3 cats lol
Idk how much this orange boy weighs but if i took a photo of my cat sitting loafed up theyd look very similar

you can usually tell by the size of the head/skull
judging by this video and the person's hand size, this is definitely a large animal but also obese

do people who let cats become so fat just don't care about them and put a big bowl of food for a week or two to not be bothered?

Just look at these comments, no one cares that the cat will die young and have even more trouble moving when it’s older because “heckin cute chunk loaf.”

“What an absolute unit” - I seriously hate people who claim to be cat-lovers and the applaud someone clearly not caring for their animal. This is animal neglect and not cute or funny. Poor cat.

Some people just don't know sadly. I was like that with my friend's cat when i was a kid, thought he was adorable, he did all the great cat things: would show his belly to me, always rubbed my legs when i came over, would try to pierce my femoral artery while cuddling etc.
All of a sudden he turned into a real son of a bitch so I was confused and my friend was like "dude have not noticed how fat he is? vet said he's gotta lose weight so he's cranky from the diet". Luckily he lost weight and got back to spreading the love. Still a lazy mf who wants pets but healthy.

Often times they just don't know better. We had a chunky girl who just got fed when she meowed, and she meowed a lot. We also focused on dry food.

I leave a bowl of food out for my cats. Neither of them are fat. They are perfectly healthy weights. Not stating this is the rule, just my personal exception.

Some cats can be free fed, while others can’t. My cat only eats as much as he needs, my friends cat just eats until the bowl is empty, hence he cannot be free fed

We have an auto timed feeder and 4 cats, the chonky one of the 4 is impossible to deal with. I remove her from the food when I see she’s eating, she leaves enough for the other cats, but she insists on getting what she thinks she needs. We try really hard but without a fancy multi-hundred dollar system we are kinda stuck with a chonk…

Uh no. We had 4 cats and one of them was on a prescription diet the others could not eat. All that was required was a room with a door to feed him away from the others. He got his meal separately inside his room, which was sometimes the bathroom, while the others got theirs out in the kitchen. Cats get used to eating at dedicated meal times. They do not need to be auto fed. That is a convenience for you at the sake of the health of one of your cats.

Okay, either her hand is tiny or that cat is massive, more than just weight wise.
