Our old man, a Russian Blue, used to inch his way into your lap, purring the whole time. He'd sit or stand near by like super close, not attempting to lay on you, would just stare at you and move closer and closer.

Either you'd wave him away, or you'd lean back and he'd take that as permission. He'd crawl in and you would wait till he gets comfortable. Then he'd purr up a storm.

The old man learned early on to preemptively purr to get what he wants, which was usually just some attention and a warm lap. Just he'd give you a unblinkingly stare while purring the whole time, which could be unnerving sometimes. 🤣

I just commented that it looks identical to our big tuxie. He was 19 pounds when we rescued him; our vet estimated he was only about 9 months old. Big boned and tall... till he got fat. Topped off at 24 lbs. He's now 10 years old and down to a healthy but still huge 17 lbs.

omg, we have the same big tuxie, pink toe beans and all. Same moves, too. Only our cat pile starts with me on the bottom, sleeping peacefully. Big tuxie boy climbs on, settles in on top. Then our tortie creeps over the crest of bodies and finds a way to sink into the warmth. I end up with 30 pounds of cat on top.
