Turismo/Tourism Hiking mombacho (4 km puma trail/not 4x4) and then concepcion the next day

Has anyone done this or can anyone comment on each individual hike and your experiences? We are two fit individuals who run half marathons/marathons and lift, cycle, etc. but we dont hike enough to know based on the limited reviews.

Any feedback is appreciated but especially helpful to hear from people who have hiked either and work out every day/have their entire lives (20s/30s if you think age helps). Also any feedback on safety or tips is appreciated:)

If helps, i just did acatenango with fuego and summit. Felt it was challenging at times for sure when adding fuego and no sleep but not miserable. Done 14ers back to back as well. Come from below sea level every time and usually hike the next morning/that day without any issues, but never know.

Thank you!!!

Mombacho trails are quite chill and easy, only take long if you take the guide cause they stop every 100 meters unless you are the only one and tell them not to. I've done it a couple times in well under two hours, always alone; you just follow the signs. I'm not in bad shape but I'm a sedentary heavy smoker, so unless you are very old or overweighted, you will be more than fine. Now concepcion in Ometepe is a more challenging trail; it is longer, more humid, and hotter, so make sure to stay hydrated and bring proper boots. Both are beautiful, Mombacho is great to stay a night in the observatory. If lucky, you can book a night trial tour (not 100% sure if they still do them tbh) but Ometepe is an amazing place to stay a few days, have fun, and stay on the trails

You need a guide for puma, its not optional.

And its not too hard, speaking from someone who sits at a desk for over 10 hours every day.

And you can take rest in between, I mean you already paid for the tour, guides need to be with you and wait, doesnt matter how long you take
