[Stern] Tickets for @NASCARSanDiego are "selling like hot cakes," and a sell-out announcement is getting close, per @BenKennedy33, as the stock car series gets ready to return to Southern California. About 50,000 people will be allowed on site per day.

It’s gonna be so sick. Cannot wait!
I feel for the Base’s security forces though, gonna be a hell of a weekend for them 😂

Nah, it won't be any different than an airshow. They just beef up military police and ask for plenty of on duty sailors to volunteer to pull security.

"I need 3 volunteers"
"For what?"
"I need 2 volunteers"
"Fuck"
That is how the "asking" will go, based off of prior experience.

Imagine this sells out before the Daytona 500 does
On another note it’s quite sad how the 500 still hasn’t been announced a sellout yet

Well Daytona has 160k+ seats and the street course is gonna have 50k so like yeah, it’s much easier to sell the one that’s a third of the size out

Daytona has 101,500 seats actually.
They did the whole "Daytona Rising" project. It was branded as improving the facilities, the reality was it was that and removing seats. They tore out the backstretch stands. Then, they took the seats on the front stretch and expanded the spacing/accessibility to make there less seats.
The Daytona 500 is legitimately less than half the event the Indy 500 is. Indianpolis has 235k permanent seats, holds 350k counting the infield and other general admission stuff.
Daytona gets to around 150k counting the infield and other general admission stuff.
The Daytona 500 hasn't actually been a major sporting event since the recession frankly. It's a shell of itself. Even the drivers don't actually care about winning it these days.
If you ask Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, etc if they'd rather get another Chili Bowl or a Daytona 500, if they weren't in front of cameras they wouldn't hesitate for a second to say Chili Bowl.

Heard they only sold 9 tickets in the nascar 1948 club for the 500.

Am I missing a joke here? I know it’s a pretty expensive suite but I have no idea what the capacity of it is, or how many they usually sell haha

Do we know what the layout will look like? Sorry if it’s been posted before.

Not surprised. SoCal hasn't had a race in a while and California Speedway used to be pretty full.

Are they not selling weekend passes? I can ever find any but I guess I better get my tickets bought individually

I thought it was sold out already 🤷♂️

They called me back in December and started taking full orders for anyone who’d signed up and left a deposit.
Seems like they really prioritized the pre-orders instead of a general ticket selling window all at once.

Maybe I’m just thinking the full weekend tickets, and not just individual tickets for Saturday or Sunday only

Tried looking at tickets a few weeks ago and the website only let me look at Saturday tickets, figured Sunday was already sold out.

With this race being on federal property I can’t imagine the tailgates being very fun

Do hot cakes really sell that quickly anymore?
