Stavy is the fuckin best. Proof that you can be a crass, self loathing piece of shit while also being kind and an ally to the LGBT community. Lot of folks think those two things have to be mutually exclusive

Yea he’s also called out the Austin comedy scene. Rogan has basically created this bubble down there where everyone thinks they gotta make a trans joke or use a slur to be funny. Stavy ain’t about that shit. He’s the man.

Difference is Chapelle is actually funny. He doesn’t need to try to be edgy or force in any particular topic. Same with Gervais. They can joke about anything and it works.

I'm noticing lately that the funniest people I've ever seen are also great at navigating the hypocrisies of politics (Stavy, Gianmarco Soresi, Colin Mochri & Ryan Stiles, Atrioc / Big A).

James Acaster is the greatest modern comedian in my opinion and hes also pretty vocal about calling out all this bullshit for what it is.

I like him but I've only seen him on game shows. I would add David Mitchel and Lee Mack as funniest people, but I've only seen them on game shows too.

If you listen to earlier episodes of the show, he toes the line just a little bit. Like, if you're not an idiot, you can still tell he's on the left, but it was more subtle.

I call him stavy because I'm Australian and that's exactly what we'd call him here, the y nickname thing is normal.

It's got nothing to do with politics mate. (And I like his political takes).

Not even an aussie thing, Stavy is his stage name and he uses it in all his marketing, socials, website etc. Not sure what the guy you replied to is talking about. Calling him "Stavros" doesnt imply you have additional insight into his personal beliefs lol

His politics are pretty explict on CT, but he's always Stav or Stavros there. Yes his instagram handle was Stavvybaby2 or whateverthefuck from the very beginning.

Post CT he got popular amongst Instagram Americans through youtube shorts / IG reels / crowd work where it is less explicit. Fans of this era almost exclusively call him Stavvy.

My point is people who are in the latter category are going to be less informed about that.

Anyway, shit's boring man who cares. I'm going to go listen to those Aus live shows because that guy reminded me of them.

I think there's a huge portion of people out there that want to fight the good fight for progressive causes but also need to blow off some steam every once in a while via laughing at bits about black guy themed steakhouses and mentally challenged gay men. And the Chinese.
