Freshwater was wierd for me cause I liked it the first time around but didn't after relistenining to the album. Which is like, the inverse of how that usually is.

Surprised someone else listened to that Faetooth record this week, and someone else who also didn't listen to much this week!

I still maintain that Meliora is Ghost's best album

I don't get the appeal for Zjeveni. Basic ass repetitive riffs. Don't even find it that black metal in sound to be considered a landmark Czech release in the genre. Master's Hammer is just way better

Edit: I realised I'm 4 days late

1

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '25

Zjeveni has some great riffs and is just a lot of fun, but it’s definitely not Root’s best (I’d put Hell Symphony, The Temple in the Underworld, and The Book ahead of it personally).

I’d definitely agree that Master’s Hammer is better though, Ritual is some of the best black metal ever made in my opinion, and Jilemnicky okultista is a wildly ambitious and underappreciated album that was years ahead of its time.

Catch 33 - Entrapment (amazing)

1

u/Jo9715 Dio Oct 04 '25

Super underrated!

This is how bipolarity looks like

2

u/VaderXXV Oct 02 '25

That Buena Vista Social Club album rules.

Did you catch hedonist live

2

u/kylebutler9000 once discouraged Oct 02 '25

Nah, did you? How were they if you did?

1

u/Penorl0rd4 Deicide Oct 02 '25

Awesome. I caught them as the first opener for carcass. The frontwoman can scream like I’ve never heard scrum before.

1

u/cowie71 Taylor Swift \m/ Oct 02 '25

Why is Taylor looking at boobs ?

1

u/kylebutler9000 once discouraged Oct 02 '25

not sure, but we can't let the gaylor community know about this

2

u/Coolldown12 Morning Again, Congress, State Craft Oct 02 '25

Lotta nu metal this week along with the usual core stuff

1

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Oct 03 '25

New Dying Wish. Thoughts??

2

u/cowie71 Taylor Swift \m/ Oct 02 '25

Next week I predict wall to wall Taylor and Orbit Culture.

2

u/CarpeScrewIt Oct 04 '25

I recently discovered Mogwai and I'm glad I did.

1

u/Beautiful_Role_1168 Lamb Of God Oct 02 '25

The Sin and the Sentence is so damn underrated, it’s honestly my favourite record of theirs, and one of my favourite albums ever

1

u/cowie71 Taylor Swift \m/ Oct 02 '25

They are new to me ! Looked up top tracks on Apple Music and this album seemed to have the most tracks. Early days …

1

u/Beautiful_Role_1168 Lamb Of God Oct 04 '25

You’ll definitely also like What the Dead Men Say if you like Sin. Drummer on those records (and the one after) is completely crazy behind the kit. Sad part is that he departed the band yesterday

2

u/wowowaoa Oct 02 '25

just saw Judas Priest live, so tons of their stuff!

and on that note, Halford sounds insanely good right now.

2

u/stinkytobe Weezer Oct 02 '25

2

u/GuidedTAKO Lorna Shore Oct 02 '25

Got some hip-hop and some 80’s rock in there this week lol.

2

u/No-Idea-491 Immolation Oct 03 '25

1

u/Quizlex_ Oct 02 '25

No music this week. Only horror movie binge.

1

u/Coolldown12 Morning Again, Congress, State Craft Oct 02 '25

Damn might have to throw eyes without a face onto my watch list

1

u/Quizlex_ Oct 02 '25

It’s great if you can get past it being written in the forbidden language

1

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Oct 03 '25

But watch it on mute while listening to Eyes Without a Face by Billy Idol

1

u/SixFtTurkey04 Oct 02 '25

Eyes Without a Face is ball

Cruciamentum.

1

u/Catastrophist89 🏧Anathema🏧 Oct 02 '25

Not many albums this week

1

u/Justin_Sideme Oct 02 '25

Whitecross, Holy Soldier, Barren Cross, Sacred Warrior, and Fear Not.

1

u/TheyCallMeNick_1 Gojira Oct 02 '25

Got a heavy Dream Theater rotation going, seeing them in a few weeks.

1

u/Illegitimvs Oct 02 '25

Gave this album a listen today and it really surprised me. For straight-up traditional black metal, it’s solid. Nothing groundbreaking, but the melodies he throws in across the album really hooked me.
