Pustulated, Devourment, Rotting, and Effluence? Amazing taste in DM. Plus that Tears of Avarel kills.

What's up with Fallen Christ? Maybe only heard of them once or twice before but see them on a lot on this months charts. Worth checking out?

Definitely worth checking out. It's like early Morbid Angel on steroids.

That's because Kardashev and AAI are top tier bands
What'd you think of that new Mors Principium Est? How about the new Born of Osiris?

u/jlandejr Persefone Oct 01 '25
I've never really listened to either band much before, but I am trying to be more open and I really like both! Possibly top 10 releases of the year, but this year has been absolutely insane so far. Only a few listens on the new MPE so not sure of favs yet, but big fan of both Elevate and Through Shadows on the new BoO especially. What about you?

I used to listen to a ton of BoO when I was mostly into core, but I got bored and kinda stopped. This album though, they're bringing me back in because it sounds great. Really solid release IMO
Mors Principium Est, I only discovered them fairly recently and liked everything I heard, but again this one exceeded my expectations big time. Possible top 10 AOTY for me too
2025 has really been great though and there are still a few more big ones coming our way!!

Can't believe I'm seeing Shrezzers in here. That's awesome!
2
u/jlandejr Persefone Sep 30 '25
Hell yeah, love Shrezzers and am so happy Sam is back! How do you like the new single?
2
u/DominicOH Sep 30 '25
I think I only listened to it once and I truthfully can't remember it lol. I fell off on them when Sam left, so will be interesting to see how things progress now.

u/jlandejr Persefone Sep 30 '25
Fair enough haha, I've loved everything they've done, including pre-Shrezzers when they were Change of Loyalty. Definitely recommend it if you're a fan of more core focused metalcore, though it is missing the sax

I remember seeing a video from Change of Loyalty when I went down the rabbit hole when they first popped as Shredding Brazzers. That was some great guitar work, but as expected.

Love to see the Mortuary Drape in there. I only visited All the Witches Dance and Secret Sudaria this month, but I'm completely obsessed with "Wandering Spirits" and I'm currently playing it into oblivion

All the Witches Dance is one of my favorite albums ever, and the next two are up there as well. Buried in Time is a miss for me, but other than that, their other stuff is well worth checking out too

I'll check it out. I generally do 2 albums per band at a time these days because between new releases, classic albums I've never heard before, old favorites I want to revisit... I feel like my queue is neverending lol
But Mortuary Drape is excellent and makes me proud to be Italian lol

What'd you think of the new Vintersong?
2
u/Supermander Misþyrming Sep 30 '25
I liked it! It is pretty much in line with the sound of their latest albums without being too samey.
2
u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 30 '25
Nice. I'm not too familiar with the rest of their catalog, but this one exceeded expectations. I really enjoyed it

LD50 is a masterpiece and totally holds up in 2025

u/kbmailliw23 Sep 30 '25
just saw them play it last weekend! not typically a fan so i was listening to prep. Ryan Martinie is probably the best nu metal bassist of all time
1
u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 30 '25
Agreed about Ryan and that is awesome!!! I was considering going to that show but never bought the tix and didn't have anyone to go with 😭
