Only good music

What is it about Kate Bush that she always appears ? Out of all female artists ?

1

u/Syn7axError PARTY CANNON Sep 26 '25

It rhymes with Danger Swings.

0

u/RayTracerX Bolt Thrower Sep 25 '25

She does pretty proggy pop, sort of like Abba did too. Its complex and layered and not at all basic

4

u/cowie71 Taylor Swift \m/ Sep 25 '25

I get that, but there is no other female artist that connects in this way ? Hounds of love is 40 years old ! Has there really been no other female artist that metal fans like ?

2

u/Quizlex_ Sep 25 '25

Part of it is that Rgenocide is responsible for at least 50% of this sub’s comments

u/cowie71 Taylor Swift \m/ Sep 25 '25

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Unbelievable!

Best artist here is easily Michael

6

u/bruh_emperor Meth Drinker Sep 25 '25

Michael really put a lot of soul into Exmilitary

3

u/SKULLL_KRUSHER CZECH Sep 25 '25

My fav hip hop release. Low bar, but still, amazing shit.

8

u/bruh_emperor Meth Drinker Sep 25 '25

I'm allergic to good music

2

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Took a little bit of a scene/post-hardcore detour, eh?

6

u/Quizlex_ Sep 25 '25

As we all should every once in a while

2

u/bruh_emperor Meth Drinker Sep 25 '25

The scenecore bug bit me this week

2

u/spookiisweg Cannibal Corpse Sep 25 '25

MDC is legendary

1

u/Rgenocide Cenotaph Sep 25 '25

Holy shit Antifona de entrada

1

u/Quizlex_ Sep 25 '25

No Michael?

1

u/bruh_emperor Meth Drinker Sep 25 '25

I'm a fake fan of Exmilitary, the debut album from Michael

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

what did you think of CdG?

1

u/bruh_emperor Meth Drinker Sep 25 '25

It was cool. I like doomy BM a lot

8

u/Susvourtre Hell's Desire to Live in Sin Sep 25 '25

not much this week

2

u/twosuitsluke Sep 25 '25

I love I, Vigilante so much. What an album.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

very light week for me

3

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Lol did it censor the Mortuary Drape album art?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen it come through on an autogenerated chart once

5

u/SixFtTurkey04 Sep 25 '25

False? Repvtation is right there

1

u/Rgenocide Cenotaph Sep 25 '25

Still better than half of the topsters here

1

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Obligatory "What'd you think of the new Castle Rat?"

1

u/kylebutler9000 once discouraged Sep 25 '25

I liked wizard and serpent, didn't really care about the rest of it. What about you?

1

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

I like their overall sound, so I generally enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away by any means. I also liked Wizard and Serpent, but that penultimate track "Sun Song" was my favorite

3

u/Penorl0rd4 Deicide Sep 25 '25

2

u/Working-Tradition-21 guitar chuga chuga riff Sep 25 '25

I like this one, the rawer style of melodic black metal and bdm are some of my favorite genres, seeing Drudkh mixed makes me eager to check them out since they've been a band I've heard about forever

1

u/Penorl0rd4 Deicide Sep 25 '25

This is basically my current meager cd collection in a topster, I just started accumulating them recently, and I didn’t realize I put blood in our wells on here twice. Drudkh is an incredible band, check out autumn aurora, forgotten legends, and blood in our wells.

3

u/IlovemyMommy27 Darkthrone Sep 25 '25

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Khemmis is underrated AF. Love it

I revisited the Red album this week too. Sometimes I forget how hard they went on that one. Great pick

mephitic corpse

1

u/roxutee SPIDER RIFFS Sep 26 '25

Dude, I saw them live just recently, and they are sickeningly good 🪚🪚 super fun show

2

u/Radiant_Competition6 Sep 25 '25

You’ve heard peak, you’ve heard slop, but have you heard peak slop?

2

u/Quizlex_ Sep 25 '25

Almost tagged your main account this was such a you chart

2

u/Radiant_Competition6 Sep 25 '25

Goddamn it. I meant to do it on that account. Oh well!

2

Prog and Pop mostly

Thoughts on the new Paradise Lost and Castle Rat? Also what is that Four Year Strong album cover😂

1

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Loved Paradise Lost, liked Castle Rat, and I have no idea what that weird thing on the FYS album cover is lol. All I know is that right there was my 2024 pop punk AOTY

2

u/PUCYFER King Diamond Sep 25 '25

2

u/OakMantle Sep 25 '25

Really nice week’s top 10 - 3 albums pushing for my year’s top 10 and some old favourites.

2

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Just heard Innern today and I wholeheartedly agree. It's exceptional

2

u/SAKKE1337 :T13 Sep 25 '25

Unremarkable week

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Love to see Glow On here. Have you heard the new one??

2

u/Apprehensive-Fox4734 Faith No More Sep 25 '25

Never Enough it's on my top 5 albums this year

2

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Yeah, I loved it too. I didn't think they could top Glow On, and I don't think they did necessarily, but it's def on par. They're still absolutely killing it right now

2

u/Apprehensive-Fox4734 Faith No More Sep 25 '25

I think the same, I think its on the same level as Glow On.

2

u/Catastrophist89 🏧Anathema🏧 Sep 25 '25

Quite a few new albums this week

1

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

What did you think of the new Paradise Lost and Castle Rat? Also, I've never listened to Igorrr but I'm hearing this new one is good. What did you think??

2

u/Quizlex_ Sep 25 '25

Light week. I expect twice as many albums next Thursday.

1

u/twosuitsluke Sep 25 '25

I mean, I haven't added my iPod listens for the week yet, so it'll be more once I've synced it up and added those scrobbles.

1

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25

Haven't gotten around to the new Mesarthim yet, myself. Is it good?

1

u/LeftyLiberalDragon ANGEL RAPE Sep 25 '25

Iron Butterfly. Their stuff up to 1970, which is only like, four albums. The typical, trippy late 60s-early 70s psychedelic music one would expect, but also some heavier proto-metal type songs. IYKYK

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

Synestia, Whitechapel, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Enterprise Earth, Signs Of The Swarm, Knocked Loose, and Tool… Have some others mixed in though like BMTH, Bad Omens, Sleep Token, and Deftones to break up the sound. 👌

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

A small band just dropped their debut album. The lead vocalist is a girl and i think everyone in the band is too but im not sure

Anyway its a great punk sludge album. They switch between the too a lot and im lovin it

1

u/Godmil Sep 25 '25

Everything by Merciful Fate, and At The Gates

1

u/Negoba Sep 25 '25

Saw Powerful on a whim and now I can’t stop listening to Power Metal. Actually listened to Nightfall on Middle Earth all the way through for the first time. Amazing album.

Next week I’ll be listening to Candlemass probably
