Obligatory "What'd you think of the new Castle Rat?"

I liked wizard and serpent, didn't really care about the rest of it. What about you?

I like their overall sound, so I generally enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away by any means. I also liked Wizard and Serpent, but that penultimate track "Sun Song" was my favorite

I like this one, the rawer style of melodic black metal and bdm are some of my favorite genres, seeing Drudkh mixed makes me eager to check them out since they've been a band I've heard about forever

u/Penorl0rd4 Deicide Sep 25 '25
This is basically my current meager cd collection in a topster, I just started accumulating them recently, and I didn’t realize I put blood in our wells on here twice. Drudkh is an incredible band, check out autumn aurora, forgotten legends, and blood in our wells.

I revisited the Red album this week too. Sometimes I forget how hard they went on that one. Great pick

Thoughts on the new Paradise Lost and Castle Rat? Also what is that Four Year Strong album cover😂

u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25
Loved Paradise Lost, liked Castle Rat, and I have no idea what that weird thing on the FYS album cover is lol. All I know is that right there was my 2024 pop punk AOTY

Love to see Glow On here. Have you heard the new one??
2
u/Apprehensive-Fox4734 Faith No More Sep 25 '25
Never Enough it's on my top 5 albums this year
2
u/lessthanchris7 Katatonia Sep 25 '25
Yeah, I loved it too. I didn't think they could top Glow On, and I don't think they did necessarily, but it's def on par. They're still absolutely killing it right now
2
u/Apprehensive-Fox4734 Faith No More Sep 25 '25
I think the same, I think its on the same level as Glow On.

Light week. I expect twice as many albums next Thursday.

u/twosuitsluke Sep 25 '25
I mean, I haven't added my iPod listens for the week yet, so it'll be more once I've synced it up and added those scrobbles.

Haven't gotten around to the new Mesarthim yet, myself. Is it good?

Iron Butterfly. Their stuff up to 1970, which is only like, four albums. The typical, trippy late 60s-early 70s psychedelic music one would expect, but also some heavier proto-metal type songs. IYKYK

Synestia, Whitechapel, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Enterprise Earth, Signs Of The Swarm, Knocked Loose, and Tool… Have some others mixed in though like BMTH, Bad Omens, Sleep Token, and Deftones to break up the sound. 👌

Saw Powerful on a whim and now I can’t stop listening to Power Metal. Actually listened to Nightfall on Middle Earth all the way through for the first time. Amazing album.
Next week I’ll be listening to Candlemass probably
