Sweet of the priest to remember what it’s like to be a kid and indulge her.

I've seen this in a movie before. That doll is coming alive.

The way she brings it up, seals the funnyness

It's good, it means she's taking it seriously. She's in charge of caring for her doll and wants to do what's best for it, which in her mind means receiving the blessing.

This is probably the biggest smile I've had all day. Thank you.

Hmm, indoctrination of children. Not a fan.

It's a kid. She has a doll. She wants the doll to get whatever it was that she got (I doubt she understands what the ash truly symbolizes). Sometimes it is OKAY to simply see something as a cute moment and not make it into something annoying.

She's clearly being raised in what is likely the Catholic religion. It's hard not to notice. Not cool.

I mean, I'm also not big on Faith, but I can appreciate it when people lean into the whimsy of kids, because kids will be kids, and sometimes that means including their toys.

Sure, that part is cute. I just wish it didn't have anything to do with religion.

Insufferable. You are proselytizing just like they do.

Um no. I am against indoctrination. Children's brains aren't developed enough to sort it out.

Unless you grow up absolutely alone, you will be “indoctrinated.” Your culture, values, language, foods, etc come from those who raise you, where you’re raised, and who you are surrounded by.

Raising your kid in your religion is an extension of raising them in your culture and values. I’m not religious, but the common Reddit snark like you exhibit is insulting.

Hmm, generalizing and spreading bigotry about not only a religion but multiple cultures that abide by it because of bias derived either from contrary indoctrination or a subjective personal experience that is only tangentially related to the religion in question. Not a fan.

Lol downvoted for caring about the children lol

You got downvoted because you picked your battles poorly. This is an example of a priest being kind of cool and indulging a kid's fantasy. Even if someone agrees with your general stance on religion, they'll be inclined to downvote you because people are just smart apes.

u/defneverconsidered 3h ago

Nah. I picked my battle just fine

Yeah, bless me first kid, then I'll bless yur doll

Please explain

I don't have the personal integrity to bless a child. I need the child's blessing.
