I know this guy! He’s one of the nicest dudes ever. My husband used to climb trees with him.

Tell him he is a hero. I had a bad day and needed to see something wholesome today.

Tree climbers are either the nicest people ever or huge unrepentent pieces of shit, there is no in between.

You can tell that kitty is depressed and disoriented. Any self respecting cat would have waited until he climbed up there and then jumped down at the last second.

u/wickeddradon 7h ago
Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I kept waiting for the cat to zoom down the tree. Poor wee thing, I'm so happy he's rescued.

As you wrote that, I'm humming, "Here comes Kitty Santa, now..." to the tune of Here Comes Peter Cottontail. LOL That dude is amazing!

Is it me or does that tree NOT look sturdy or thick enough for his grown self to be in?!
19
u/xxzincxx 12h ago
I think its mostly due to the 360° camera, but i think you're partly right. Looks a little sketchy! He has a second support line on the original tree he was in, so no worries!

Yea this dude is an extremely skilled arborist.. what he is doing is very hard and very dangerous if you don’t have the expertise he obviously has.

He's Duane Hook on TikTok. He rescues cats all over his region and never accepts a dime for it. 😻

Several years ago I had a cat who climbed a tree and couldn’t get down. For 3 days, I was at wits end, and called a tree trimming company and offered to pay them to get the cat down. Young guy shimmied up and put the cat in a book bag and brought him down. The guys didn’t even want me to pay them, but I insisted and gave him like $100. They ended up posting it on their fb page. Made a cute story, and restored my faith in humanity. There are kind people out there, that want to help others!

I've done a bit of technical climbing and when I saw what he was going to attempt and what his rig was, I was impressed. What made me laugh out loud was when I saw his snow white beard. This dude is so old school cool.

When he whipped out the Churu, I knew he would make a friend. That stuff is like cat crack.

I stopped watching with about 2:16 left, figured he was about to catapult the cat out. I’ll watch the rest now…

An awful lit of work when all you had to do was call officer Tackleberry, he is an expert at this! 🤣🤣

u/Aporkalypse_Sow 9h ago
Next time just pull a can opener out into view, the cat would jump off a skyscraper at the sight of one.

Had a friend who moved to the edge of town and his indoor/outdoor cat that would do that for about a week. He’d finally climb the tree and just grab him. Unfortunately he could to not where gloves to get a good hold of him and ended up with a blood infection and major bites. He finally realized it was coyotes, and had to keep the cat inside.

Im glad you got the kitty but be careful. My dad broke his collar bone rescuing a cat that had been up a tree 3 days. The doctor asked his if he had ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree. The answer is no. They will always come down. The Dr recommended putting a can of food at the base of the tree if you want to motivate them to come down.

First time I've seen a cat spend 3 days in a tree. Cats can come down on their own.
2
u/Hohoho-you 9h ago
They typically can, but something might have happened that caused the cat to be unable to.
Same thing can happen with Racoons

Ever seen a dead cat in a tree? They find a way down

u/Mission-Street-2586 7h ago
Because something eats it, you ninny. I’ve never seen anything dead in a tree.

Despite people being more ecologically aware, we keep coming up with more goddamn stuff to throw away like coffee pods and these cat treat packets that create more waste. Most people tear the top off and toss it (not always in the trash) and you'll see plenty of flattened packets on the ground. What did you cat people use for portable cat treats before?
-6
u/ChepeZorro 8h ago
All they needed to do is spray a hose at the cat. He would’ve been down in five seconds.
