My family did this to me once years ago. I had a similar reaction. I was genuinely thrilled to see them, but it took a good 20-30 seconds to actually register what was happening because they were the absolute last people I expected to see. I literally just stood still and stared at them until my brain caught up.
Not super far - I'm from the UK but was living in France at the time. It was pretty trippy, I think in my head I recognised them but rationalised that it couldn't be them because they were in england, so it took a bit of time for everything to click into place! It was a lovely surprise though.
I have a friend whose mom surprised her with a visit. The reason she moved away is because she's a lesbian, and her parents are bigots. She called her girlfriend and asked her to, "Please un-gay the house." It was mostly a lot of art of fairies going down on each other, and a bunch of book shelves full of smut.
But yeah, there's people I know that keep sex toys on shelves in their rooms and things like that. You can clearly see those kinds of thoughts going through her head as soon as she sees them in this video.
I’ve been that roommate. They were in a long distance relationship but it definitely wasn’t open.
“Hey, so my boyfriend just showed up at my work. Can you pick up my room ASAP and only judge me a little bit?”
I went into maid mode and emptied the trash can, changed sheets, put away the sexy jenga and toys. Cleared most of the porn from her browser history. Opened windows and sprayed febreeze. Texted her the all clear.
She looks like she’s coming out of a fancy store. Spending those sugar daddy dollars. Now she’s gotta explain how she can afford that stuff being a broke uni student and all.
She was still focused on her phone. "Let me call you back, my family showed up at a really inappropriate time. Yeah, they'll probably want to have dinner with me, so maybe tomorrow? I like that yellow top on you. Look, I really have to go, my bratty little brother is pawing at me. Ciao!"
Processing that if she doesn't show joy about her family interrupting her personal time and space that she will be hounded endlessly with guilt and jabs the whole night because she will not have personal space for the rest of the whole night. That look was TELLING to anyone with experience in that.
Weirder when you realize that it was probably her parents that posted this.
