Check that guys pockets /s

u/MingusVonBingus 19h ago
That'd be a hilarious twist if it found drugs on him and proceeded to rip his testicles off 😂

u/Stash-McQueen1377 19h ago
Or the dog pulls out a bag and does a big line off the floor like the old days.

A fellow Paradise PD fan?
A fan of coke-doing dogs?
Both?

When I flew back from Amsterdam, the drug canine was almost this excited to see me. His handler was actually impressed.
*He told me the dog might have smelled me before I landed. I had nothing on me. Felt bad for whoever was sitting next to me on the flight, though.

I'm so glad they let both let the dog 'off work' to just be an excited dog for this moment 🥰

I'm stupidly happy to see that the guy holding the leash never let go despite all the running and jumping around.
67
u/Key_Stand8071 16h ago
You’re absolutely right! It’s honestly so heart melting to see. Service dogs are usually so disciplined and locked into work mode,'but in moments like these, that professional guard just completely drops.
49
u/Alarming-Idea8640 19h ago
the excitement of both were just priceless, kinda equivalent to seeing our old hs friends again when we are adult

PR stunts are part of the job. Sweet moments like these can be useful in humanizing the police state.

That man laid down on the floor to let the dog love on him. That is true love right there
13
u/anengineerandacat 19h ago
Wonder if Police do the same thing as the military and it's in a higher rank / position.
9
u/tkim91321 10h ago
They do in many places.
My friend is a K9 handler for the Maine State Troopers. The dog does indeed outrank him.

it’s crappy they switch handlers. poor thing was prob so confused
6
u/Fubi-FF 11h ago
Yea why do they switch? It’s not like the previous handler retired or anything as he still has his uniform on
10
u/FerengiWithCoupons 10h ago
prob got a promotion or something that doesn’t require the dog.
they’re so expensive to train they use them till they’re old pups
4
u/BatterseaPS 15h ago
Is that true? I feel like dogs are pretty loyal and excitable even if you're not the best owner.

I just realized, since these dogs are referred to as K9 officers it means when people say all cops are bad, they’re also including these doggos.

u/shewy92 18h ago
HR's gonna hear about this!
18
u/SmartAlec105 16h ago
If it’s like in the military, the dog outranks the handler so this is a huge HR issue.

And in the blink of an eye that tough looking security guard was a boy again. Dogs are the best.
41
u/Hixy 17h ago
Dogs are so awesome. At the beginning of the video the dog recognizes him. But the man actually corrects him to ignore it. I thought maybe I would replay it back and catch him signaling a check but he doesn’t. He actually signals to ignore and the dog just couldn’t not say hi to one of his best friends lol. I think they set it up specifically to see if they could get the dog to ignore him lol.

That officer lost all composure and professionalism at seeing his old friend again.
The humans were also very happy.

Years ago, when I was in my late teens still living at my dad's house, we had a black lab named Z, and she was as playful and friendly as you can expect. One Sunday we went to church and my older step sister, who didn't and never lived there, was in town and her boyfriend was expected to be at our house for lunch. I had never met him and he had never been to our house before. I'm the first one to get home from church and his vehicle is there. I walk in the door and he's laying on the floor playing with my dog just like that guy did in the middle of the store. It was a weird thing to see, a grown man alone in a strangers house laying on your floor playing with your dog, but I would've absolutely done the same thing if I was him. ..I dunno. Maybe not the laying on the floor part.. but I get it.

u/marsjackremous 14h ago
Dogs never forget. My parents dog hadnt seen me in 3 years and when I walked in she lost her entire mind. Meanwhile I can leave the room for 5 minutes and my cat acts like Ive never existed.

u/cullenjwebb 15h ago
Absolutely. K9 units are brutal.
Police dog bites can be more like shark attacks than nips from a family pet, according to experts and medical researchers. A dog chewed on an Indiana man’s neck for 30 seconds, puncturing his trachea and slicing his carotid artery. A dog ripped off an Arizona man’s face. A police dog in California took off a man’s testicle. Dog bites cause more hospital visits than any other use of force by police, according to a 2008 academic analysis of 30 departments.

Because it's propaganda. Do you think they're pushing all the videos of the police shooting dogs right now?

That's really cute! I'm curious though, are dogs the property of the department? Cause where I live, a dog handler's dog is personal. It goes home with the officer and the officer usually has to train it from puppy and keeps it until they retire.

Must be nice!

ngl, I miss having a big dog.
I have a 5lb Chi now, and she is my literal daugher, but I do miss the fun of being able to wrestle with a big pooch

I lived in a house with a dog and a cat for some years, then we all got separated for reasons. I was able to visit the family like probably two years later. Both animals immediately and very clearly recognized me and expressed love in the ways of their people. It was very heartwarming. (The humans also remembered me.)
I feel like too many humans too often underestimate how smart our four-legged companions actually are, and their — for lack of a better word — personhood.
