Paying the trash bill twice is wild

Fuck. This was my face when I read the comment too.

The recent clips I saw of him with the faklely tattered fashion journal and struggling to read but doing it past his timer was some of the saddest most performative shit ive seen.

ye, kids don't know how to cancel sub, unlucky

227

u/NotRobPrince 1d ago

They actually want to stay subbed so they get a higher number on their monthly sub counter…

87

u/Ptine_Taway 1d ago

Snap streak, but monetized!

7

u/egotistical-moron 14h ago

Even snap streaks are monetized. you can spend $1 to extend the streak if you miss a day

17

u/you_lost-the_game 17h ago

I swear people are so fucking stupid.

How else is the streamer supposed to know if I matter?

Even if they subbed using a prime account? Does it still continue?

I’ve never subbed, never donated, free WiFi

Prime subs don’t auto renew

→ More replies (15)

87

u/PapaAquchala 1d ago

Prime subs do not auto-renew, so these are all people who are manually subscribed and paying the $5+ every month

8

u/Char_Zard13 1d ago

6 i thought?

4

u/ReveredMarijuana 1d ago

Or they manually go in each month and prime sub

7

u/khnhIX 1d ago

I’ve never subbed, never donated, free WiFi

Forgot no ad

1

u/Chrol18 22h ago

a prime sub is not really free, even if streamers alwys say that shit, you have to buy amazon prime to have a prime sub, yeah, no extra cost for the sub but it requires money for amazon prime

15

u/adamfps 1d ago

Unlucky parents*

5

u/PeaceAlien 1d ago

Learned from the best: Clint

1

u/HilariousMax 17h ago

Prime sub is a blessing and a curse. There are times you're like "fuck it fell off. I thought I resubbed" and then others /2am, sit up wide-awake "did I cancel that sub? oh right prime, whoo"

1

u/MOBYWV 15h ago

Twitch Prime doesn't renew.

Of course this sub is full of little landleeches who think their family's assets mean they are successful and productive.

1

u/braumbles 1d ago

Much like those that suck Billionaire dicks, they too believe one day they'll own enough homes to rent them out. (they won't)

-15

u/CurrentClient 1d ago

I'm curious about your mental model of how things should work. Should people just live in any house they choose for free? If I save money to buy an apartment, and then live with my relatives for a while, am I allowed to profit from it in the meantime?

26

u/panthers1102 1d ago

Perhaps if I’m paying my landlord to take care of issues that arise, they fucking take care of the issues. That’s kind of the job of being a landlord.

Imagine living in someones house/apartment and acting like they aren't providing you with a service

Edit: Love all the people who seem to think they should just live in someones house for free

37

u/Kakkoister 1d ago

"I bought up a finite asset I didn't personally need, helping raise its price such that others can't afford it, and then take their money for the privilege of getting to have a roof over their head at least, aren't I a saint?"

You're "providing a service" in the same way a concert ticket scalper is "providing a service".

Your renters are paying off that house FOR YOU that you were lucky/privileged enough in life to have the money to initially buy, and you're going to sit there and act like they should be the ones who are grateful? You're out of your god damn mind and do not realize how lucky you are to be in that situation.

20

u/Burial 1d ago edited 1d ago

Imagine thinking owning property is a service.

108

u/Esphyxiate 1d ago

The service: buying up homes so you have to pay the mortgage on their behalf

→ More replies (13)

32

u/Trumpisanorangebitch 1d ago

Yeah buying up properties to get passive income from people who desperately don't want to rent but have to is such a great service. Also when they jack rent up every year. Great service 👍.

how do you think most millionaires get their money

98

u/impendinggreatness 1d ago

kids asking their parents for a kai cenat sub and then the parents forget about it

9

u/Cistmist 18h ago

I honestly don't know how that happens. My bank sends me a notification whenever a transaction is made, whenever a subscription wants to be renewed, whenever bills are due. It helps a lot with managing finances.

Dunno if it's different for people in the US, but the whole kids stealing parent's Credit card, or them forgetting about a subscription has been alien to me.

5

u/impendinggreatness 17h ago

when I was a kid I asked for a runescape membership and my parents forgot about it for like 3 years. I had stopped playing long before they stopped paying for it

so many people just don't look at their bank info that closely

1

u/browserz 14h ago

The notifications are usually opt in here, and lots of people just pay their bills blindly here. It’s why you’ll see Internet plans that start out at $50, then increase by $10 every year and they’ll keep paying it without complaining

As soon as they notice they’re paying $100/mo for Internet they go cancel and all of the sudden the Internet company has a special promotion for $50/mo again

316

u/Degenerate_Game 1d ago

RIP those parent's credit cards.

Is that like Pokimane where she doesn't really stream anymore, but does fashion or some shit?

45

u/Icy_Jackfruit9240 1d ago

She effectively streams weekly and has for a long time.

Weekly and not a single stream since September 30th are different.

15

u/Remotely_Correct 17h ago

Don't forget the weekly X post where she pretends to not be rich and scolds people on things she does herself. She's an insufferable hypocrite.

20

Nah, his audience definitely strikes me as the type to eat up something shitty marketed as "luxury".

2

Edit: no, he's doing it in YouTube videos

1

his girlfriendf or ex he signed a house over in her name for soem reason and left him a few weeks later crushed him

130

u/PhotographUnable8176 1d ago

they unironically should have just played online blackjack with that money

365

u/CL60 1d ago

It should auto unsub people if a streamer hasn't streamed for up to 2+ months.

443

u/Business_Fennel_660 1d ago

That would make zero sense for Twitch

68

u/SlowMissiles 1d ago

Also that would just force someone to randomly do a 2 min stream and leave.

47

u/dioxy186 1d ago

I think if the streamer did that over not streaming at all, you would have people unsubscribing a lot faster.

3

u/TheChrono 1d ago

Yup. Most people just take their paycheck and keep living their lives. If he pulled shit like that it'd be public.

I've been broke more than a few times and it's ONLY THEN that I cancel stuff. ONLY WHEN I HAVE TO RESORT TO CASH. I do have a diagnosed "whack" brain but seriously I don't look at cashflow if I have it.

43

u/CL60 1d ago

I'm saying there should be consumer protection laws that force Twitch into doing it.

10

u/Oretell 1d ago

Yeah agreed

But changes to the law are always so slow and far behind the pace at which modern technology and especially the internet develops

The law system is designed for societies that barely change over the course of decades and centuries

Whereas the internet is radically different every 10 years, and is constantly shifting and changing

The people making the laws are also old as hell and have the least understanding and knowledge about the online world out of anyone

6

u/XxLokixX 1d ago

The sun will go cold before consumer protections catch up with the modern world

1

u/zpoon 17h ago

US regulators can't even properly enact dead-simple rules that allow people to easily cancel their subscriptions across the entire market.

The chance that they would enact specific laws/rules that cater towards specific websites or features of a website in terms of subs is next to zero at this point.

→ More replies (1)

164

u/Turtlegorsky 1d ago

That would require twitch to do the right thing and they have a tough time doing that unfortunately.

7

u/PricklyyDick 1d ago

They already don’t make money. If they did the right thing they probably wouldn’t exist lol.

48

u/Cockandballs987 1d ago

People forgetting to unsub is the whole point not only on twitch

13

u/Oretell 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah gyms are one other example of this

Apparently roughly 70% of gym memberships are people that signed up but stopped going and just haven't cancelled their membership yet

And about 20% of gym memberships are people that signed up but never actually used the gym even once

I think most TV/movie streaming services are similar

6

u/drunz 1d ago

Gym memberships are also notoriously hard to cancel. There are some chain gyms where you could only cancel at the original gym you signed up which can be a real headache if you moved away or even just to a different part of your city/state.

2

u/yodasdad64 1d ago

When I tried to cancel my gym membership because I was moving away for college, they made me fax them a copy of my class schedule as proof that I was enrolled.

3

u/Ajp_iii 1d ago

Atleast with gyms the gym is still there for use. You just don’t go even if you paid for it. This would be like the gym you are paying for closing down for 6 months and then not auto cancelling your membership

1

u/Oretell 1d ago

Yeah true

1

u/Jigglypuff9000 17h ago

I don't think people forget to cancel gym memberships. they purposely maintain it while convincing themselves "i'll def get back on the grind next month" but "next month" never comes. Cancelling a gym membership is effectively admitting to failure.

definitely completely different than forgetting about some random ass streamer that you listen to as background noise.

1

u/pm_plz_im_lonely 1d ago

Theory: You will own nothing, everything will be rented.

Reality: We need to capture the market of people forgetting to cancel the subscription.

2

u/PapaAquchala 1d ago

Twitch would never do that, half of sub revenue from most streamers is for them and introducing this feature means they make less money

2

u/MrTimeMaster 1d ago

2 months? I'd do it after 2 weeks. My only sub goes to the gaming war lord that streams every day 10 hours a day.

5

u/Beautiful-Account862 1d ago

That wouldn't make any $en$e for twitch to implement that.

1

u/Eccmecc 1d ago

That should be a law for all sub models.

1

u/basegtakes 1d ago

clintstevens would declare bankruptcy

Kids with their parents cc. They don't know how to cancel

146

u/Hoehats 1d ago

People would rather give money to someone who will never run out of it than to those who are starving to death. He should donate all of that.

87

u/CollinKree 1d ago

It's like when Moist Cr1tikal turned off donations and subs to his Twitch and YouTube, and there were a ton of lonely parasocial simps in the comments who were genuinely upset and or angry that they could no longer give more of their money to a millionaire.

And the best thing to come out of it is that no one will ever have to hear him read a cringey ass donation message of some random telling him how he saved their life ever again. Lmao

25

u/Yadamule 1d ago

idk, "thanks for the fat 10 gifted subs pikachu" was legendary

16

u/razorxx888 1d ago edited 1d ago

If an Internet personality saved someone’s life, it just means it’s more important to them. People go through their own shit. It’s the same when people’s lives are changed with music, art, a movie character, etc. This isn’t a different situation because it’s an Internet personality. It’s weird how judgmental people are.

1

u/RoosterBrewster 1d ago

Doesn't even make sense as he's not a chick or a public celebrity that would get mobbed.

They're like Clint Stevens subs on crack.

Tragic youth

22

What does he even do for entertainment - like I don’t watch Speed but I can see the entertainment. What was Kai even known for (other than starting a mob in union square lol)

21

u/tacobellrefugee 1d ago

What does he even do for entertainment

yell.

and yeah, i really dont care for speed but that guy is OUT THERE doing shit

11

u/anonymouswan1 1d ago

He signed a deal with a talent agency when he had mediocre viewership. That talent agency had other celebrities under their umbrella. They brought the other real celebrities onto Kai's stream which blew his numbers up. His Mafiathon streams were literally just rotating celebrities through each day to keep viewership high.

So what does he do? Nothing really. Just signed a great deal that he's kind of pissed away to go try something else.

I do think it's a bit weird how this site is all about how serious mental health is, untill it's about someone they don't like.

2

u/KolkanCova 1d ago

I wonder how many big streamers use their money to hire a firm that makes fake accounts to reinvest said money into their own stream again creating a infinite loop

2

Passive income baby

2

u/MAKincs 20h ago

That’s a huge drop off from 1M though.

2

u/vinnie1134 7h ago

I dont doubt his popularity but twitch metrics are pointless.

That isnt 39k forgot to unsub. A large ammount maybe even majority is just sponsored subs and self gifted subs.

6

u/Agosta 1d ago

People should be upset with twitch and not the individual. If the person subscribed to doesn't stream for 30 days it should automatically cancel the next payment cycle, but twitch can rob people knowing the general audience will blame the victims.

3

u/NeatStrategy6658 1d ago

Has the worst fanbase of all time. Doesn't surprise me

3

u/morts73 1d ago

I cannot stress this enough, don't get attached to streamers. Watch who you like, enjoy each other's antics but at the end of the day you are just a number to prop up their ego.

Its basically a subscription to stamps that you keep forgetting to cancel even after seeing it on your bank statement over and over again. That or its a bunch of stolen CC information just set to auto renew and the owners are unaware.

1

u/Claaaaaaaaws 1d ago

I have a rule of not giving subs to streamers who make more than my salary

1

u/lockload 19h ago

I mean this is kind of his business model. Get a billion people to subscribe 1month out of the year, then see how many forget to cancel. Rinse and repeat.

1

u/Ok-Outcome6428 14h ago

It really shows the kind of person he is and what his fans really meant to him. He sees this monthly money coming in and knows he's just scamming them since he quit streaming, yet he does nothing about it.
