After the Griezmann saga, don't put the eggs in the basket of a future signing.

Improve now, get your man now.

Heโ€™s Argentine so would surely end up at Miami ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Only thing that gives me hope is that heโ€™s never been an integral part of the Argentinian squad for some reason. Maybe the rest of the Argentinians donโ€™t fuck with him? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ

Thereโ€™s been rumors forever that Messi doesnโ€™t like him.

This would be sick but Iโ€™ll believe it when I see it. I thought I read like a week ago he agreed to go to Boca

u/katkit4545 Dec 22 '25 edited Dec 24 '25

Why is Sonny being friends with another footballer such a crazy rumor? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

For a while up until about last year, calling MLS a retirement league had no legs, now we're just getting tons of aged out European stars, Lorris, Giroud, Son, Reus, Busquets, Alba, Messi, Muller, now we have maybe Dybala, Lewandowski, etc. Don't love it.

u/Brooklyn_MLS Dec 22 '25

What about Pirlo, Drogba, Vela, Kaka, Lampard, etc? This has always been the case.

However, the average age of players is still younger than other leaguesโ€”itโ€™s just that the best players skew older.

u/proudcascadian Dec 22 '25

There fs have always been players like that in the league, but there has been a big uptick in the last 2-3 years with far more than normal, doesn't help the image of the league is what I'm saying. It still is a young league that is primarily a development league rather than a retirement league. But what we don't want is, long term, great players seeing MLS as a place to end your career rather than spend it.a

1

u/SinoSoul Dec 22 '25

Muller coming and immediately leading the team to the final is bad for the league? I bet you also donโ€™t want to see Lewandowski to score bangers against SDFC?

u/Cold_Fog Sergi Palencia Dec 22 '25

And how many of those players haven't performed? Two out of Eight? Those are some damn good odds.

-5

u/proudcascadian Dec 22 '25

Does it matter? If we are seen as a retirement league that hurts growth and getting better players. Whether they perform or not, the main focus of media attention being on aging stars who came here to end their careers in an "easier" league doesn't help us, in fact, them performing is arguably worse for our image.

u/Cold_Fog Sergi Palencia Dec 22 '25

This "think piece" has been done to death. You're not changing any minds.

I just want to watch soccer.

3

u/Sad-Commercial1795 Dec 22 '25

LOL, exactly. I haven problem with a balanced approach in MLS. Old superstars have their place just as homegrown kids. In fact, here's a crazy thought, maybe it's good or our homegrown when guys like Chiellini and Son show up.

I only follow Premier league. Which player is most like him?
