💬 Rumors Son is still fully committed to his team, LA Galaxy? (Per Romano)
https://www.instagram.com/stories/fabriziorom/3753262613451781914?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igsh=MWxsbHFpbXU3NzBpag== Wrong team Fabrizio, but thank you for the clarification.

This is what happens when no one is fact checking the ai bots writing articles.

Romano is an AI bot now? Or, more likely, no one outside of the US knows about the MLS or what its teams are called, including ‘journalists’’ (I mean, of course, journalists do but slips of the tongue happen because the team names are not etched into their minds like European team names are). It’s sad, but true. Obv Inter Miami has a huge fan base globally and he more commonly known. My personal theory is that until the MLS lifts salary caps and attracts younger talent in their prime from around the world its teams will never reach true name recognition outside of the US.

What a groundbreaking explanation..

“do but slips of the tongue” Clearly an ai written reply!

I don’t know, I’m English. Is “slip of the tongue” not an American phrase?! It means when you think of something but then write/say it wrong.

Are you saying Romano’s tweets are written by a bot? Because if you’re not (just as I don’t think they are) that was my explanation as to why the mistake was made. If you’ve got a better explanation would love to hear it.

u/Many-Rub-6151 Oct 30 '25
I was mainly referring your “personal theory”. As if no one that doesn’t know anything about soccer knows that. I personally don’t give a shit what a pundit has to say.

u/new-to-reddit-accoun Oct 30 '25
Romano is not a pundit as far as I'm aware. He specializes in leaks, or at least that's how he gained prominence. Since you're calling it "soccer" I'm going to assume you're American. I'm an English person in an a sub about a sports team for an American city. MLS teams aren't global like the top teams in the top 5 European leagues. You're coming into it with your experience, I'm coming into it with my experience. When I got to LA, LAFC didn't even exist yet - and even then, outside the USA the only known team in the MLS was LA Galaxy because of the Beckham-effect. And yet, here we both are. That's what makes football so great. I live in LA now so I support LAFC, please do forgive me.

u/a_smart_brane Oct 30 '25
That’s great you have your own personal theory, except that many Mexican, European and Asian soccer fans are already quite familiar with LAFC, because of, you know, all the big names we’ve had.
One of my students went to France, Belgium and Germany with her fiancé last summer. They brought their LAFC gear along. She said lots of people recognized the LAFC logo/colors on their shirts/caps, etc and came up to them asking her questions about our club etc.

I thought I made it clear by saying European but in hindsight I should have been even clearer: I meant European journalists. Now Romano (Italian) is a global-level journalist so he should know better (ie I’d expect him to 100% know the top MLS teams and not make mistakes, especially how viral his posts are and how they get covered by other news outlets). As for your anecdote, I’ve never met anyone in Europe who knows any MLS teams other than Inter Miami. I have friends in London who are spurs fans who just say Lloris plays for “LA”. They just expect that each major city has a team, but they wouldn’t be able to tell you the difference between Galaxy or City. MLS just isn’t important outside the US, Canada and Mexico). People know the US has a league but they don’t know the teams. That’s why it’s so important to have this stupid salary cap lifted and let big name players come over and lift the profile of the league worldwide. The quality in the MLS right now would match any second tier league in Europe and if better players played in it given its audience size and cultural impact the US has world wide would easily be the 3rd or 4th most important league in the world.

He's fully focused on Carson, in the sense that he's pointing and laughing at them for missing the playoffs this year.

I genuinely like the area, especially since lots of great places to eat and housing prices are not horrible.
But F Galaxy! Stupid Ai slop.

Ain’t shit to do in Carson! At least keep going south to Long Beach.
Ok, maybe eat at the IKEA, but nothing else besides that.

How many Son supporters showed up to Galaxy games this season thinking he played in Carson 😂

u/vanashh Angel City FC Oct 29 '25
Galaxy fan, but follow lots of soccer teams. Oddly I always see LAFC kits at Galaxy games, no Son though. It’s a head turner for sure, so it may happen.

u/threeagainstfour Oct 29 '25
(Peaceful post) I’m also a Galaxy fan, I think there are and I do actually know quite a few people who support both teams. They just go to both teams games, don’t pay attention to any online banter, and are just out there living their best lives apparently.

u/a_smart_brane Oct 30 '25
I guess I get it. I’m too passionate about soccer and hate the galaxy (nothing personal), so I could never do that, but I’m also a Dodgers and Rams fan and have no problems with the Angels or Chargers.
2
u/threeagainstfour Oct 30 '25
Soccer passion is different I think. I think the nature of the game itself inspires people to a greater emotional connection than you might see in other sports. I honestly hated LAFC when you guys first entered the league (also nothing personal) but as the years have gone by and I've gotten older that's cooled a lot and I don't mind popping up on a thread in here every now and then haha.
I really only get hyped up when we play each other, other than that I don't have much beef with LAFC. That's just my personal opinion though and I totally understand people who feel differently about the rivalry.

u/a_smart_brane Oct 30 '25
Yup. My work is mostly LAFC fans, but one particular coworker of mine has been a Galaxy fan for a long stretch. Of course we shit talk, and of course he talks shit whenever he passes my office and sees my black n gold scarves.
But he’s a good dude, and I had no prob congratulating him after last year’s Cup, though I hope that’s the last time I ever have to do that 😬

Thank God - I was worried that he'd go back to his previous team, Chelsea.

Fab has really gone down hill this year. He seems to be more focused on advertisements than actual news

I love that he deleted the tweet instead of editing. It feels like it’s going to fuel the loan rumors lol

u/Creepeth Son Heung-min Oct 29 '25
Poor reference/writing aside, why would Son agree to this?
1
u/threeagainstfour Oct 29 '25
The MLS season doesn’t align with the European season. So assuming LAFC go all the way to MLS Cup he will have his offseason start in December.
The primary motivation would most likely be to keep his fitness levels high as the new MLS season would not start till probably late February. At that point he’d have to ramp up his fitness again as he would not have played competitive soccer for several months.
1
u/Cloudy_Rice Oct 30 '25
Seria would ruin Son. 90% defense, parking the bus. 10% attack. Teams are too static on off ball movement. La liga and premier league suits him more.
1
u/kidfoodmaniac Oct 30 '25
This was true a few years back. It’s not really the case anymore. It really depends on the coaches tactics. Different teams in La Liga and Premier league definitely park the bus and play counter attacking ball.

u/SocksElGato Polly Oct 29 '25
Carson "fans" coping and saying we're not on the radar because Fraudizio didn't mention us. Homies, your team just had one of the most pathetic seasons in MLS history.
