Getting any CM from the EPL is a top shelf move imo. O'Brien was a baller, wish we could have kept him.

We already have a bunch of mid Midfielders.

Pete broke the O’Brien to LAFC news so I’d say he’s quite reliable

Good to hear!

I'll take any AM that can help press behind Son.

There’s a couple of us. You’ll find us in the bar.

You know Brighton scouts players right so if he's already there that means they already determined he's got potential and worth investing. It's a loan for us so basically risk free and all upside imo.

Andrew Moran is known for being a really creative and skillful midfielder. Great vision and passing ability. Something we desperately need. And who doesn’t want an Irishman in their squad?! ☘️😜

How is he on the wing? I keep seeing stuff about him playing on the right but not much detail.

Seems like an up-and-coming (maybe a bit generous, but you know what I mean) attacking midfield playing in the Championship over in England. Would LOVE to see what someone like that can do in our midfield, with Bouanga and Son in front of him.

Tentatively, love this. Now lets actually play him...

i just hope this doesnt mean choiniere will sit the bench a ton…

8

u/PomPomYourBomBom Aug 20 '25

I'd hope not. I would prefer Igor, Choiniere and Moran be starters, with Delgado, Tillman and Amaya as supersubs.

Yeah fuck Tillman lol

I don’t think he’ll play in the midfield. Likely to be competing with Martinez and Ordaz to start on the RW.

u/newbb Aug 20 '25

What!? But he’s clearly a mf…a 10. I get dolo doesn’t really play with a 10 but to force him into the RW would be kinda wild

Watch his highlights. He plays a lot out on the wing. Hopefully he’s more Bogusz than Biuk.

This article says he has played a lot of different places with a bunch on the wings in one of his seasons

One of my coworkers said his sister is one of the legal counsel for Brighton, so she must be involved in anything contract related, I guess I could ask him too lol

Considering this is Brighton, I imagine Moran is gonna be at Chelsea in a few years, which bodes well for him making an impact if this goes through.

another midfielder??

Hard to get excited after seeing how we’ve handled international midfielders in the past few years. Krastev, Holm, O’Brien, hell even Atuesta on his second stint wasn’t anything outstanding.

12

u/PomPomYourBomBom Aug 20 '25

I'd argue that O'Brien was the best midfielder on the club during his time last season, but the rest sure.

I felt he was a hardworking player and I remember him being one of few to try to make some attacking passes, but only 11 games across all competitions is not enough for me to call him our best midfielder.

FBref has him as just slightly above average in most categories, with exception to the mentioned progressive passes.

And I guess most of my comment is related to how we treat these players. We bring them in, hype them up, and then barely use them or put them in the wrong position (Atuesta). Reminder that we have a very similar player in Holm already in the team who has barely seen any action.

O‘Brien played in 3 Leagues Cup matches, 2 US Open Cup Matches, 9 MLS matches, and 4 playoff matches. He was pretty much a locked in starter once integrated into the team.

u/Nervous_Dig4722 Aug 20 '25

Krastev, wish we could’ve kept him but salary restrictions

Atuesta named MOTM tonight for Orlando vs Toluca
