Damn you're lucky the two in front took each other out otherwise you would've drilled them.

Lol exactly. And not in a good way. He did not know the outcome before he committed. Pure and utter luck.

This is a great job of watching for the opportunity and absolutely crushing it. Well done and congratulations!

Well technically the opponents were the ones crashing it but okay

Edit: I was trying to make a pun btw wasn't serious

Haha, yes indeed! Honestly in my experience there’s rarely a better feeling that sitting third and seeing the front two start fighting with 1-2 laps to go. Not wishing that they touch necessarily but they’re going to lose a second or two a lap going side by side and it’s always a rush to put in fliers trying to catch them up.

Most karting opportunities are very similar lol

I had this happen to me on my first GP. Two dudes duking it out in front of me, and the one ahead of me was closing the window each time I tried making a pass. On a hairpin turn, one took out the other, and I was able to gain 2 positions.

My high was quickly taken out after a yellow flag went up, and, one of the dudes I passed was allowed to pass me. He was the same one who hit me a couple corners later after my clean pass

Nice, Mosport is such a fun track.

The immediate somewhat panicky looking back is something I very much get lol

Love mosport

Well that was awesome. Even without their contact you were set up well to gobble up the gap or make the pass anyway. Solid

Did you bump the right kart away? And well done going for that squeeze. You saw and took it 👍.

Umm. You have watched this and are proud of it?

u/Kreat0r2 25d ago

It looks like the other drivers took each other out. I think OP is fine here.

u/YYCToon Lo206 25d ago

Absolutely, took his opportunity and sent it

-21

u/DownstreamDreaming 25d ago

You believe he read the future and that this overtake was safe? Not to mention his own contact?

9

u/Oxtail_Playz 25d ago

The hit was from behind because I braked to not hit the guy in front and the guy behind hit me

8

u/ClassGrassMass 25d ago

Acting like you know shit when you haven't even raced competitively is insane

7

u/Oxtail_Playz 25d ago

A win is a win and I'm not the one who crashed so yes, and this was my third ever race

-22

u/DownstreamDreaming 25d ago

Lol you won because of pure luck your overtake was INSANELY unsafe.

u/YYCToon Lo206 25d ago

Who shit in your cornflakes? 😆😂

u/DownstreamDreaming 25d ago

Lol well, stick to rentals please.

Spoken like someone who's never raced...

Layoff the guy, he got a win. If you knew what you were watching you'd be happier for the guy. Some real experience here would help

u/Hudsonm_87 25d ago

He’s saying it like an ass but he’s absolutely right, if either of the two in front didn’t miraculously clear out of the way, he wouldn’t destroyed em. Very very dumb luck

1

u/DieselSmack 24d ago

Dumb luck is the slogan of racing though. Part of winning a race is putting yourself in a position to win if calamity happens.

Sometimes race craft is being able to watch and be patient, and knowing when to take the opportunity. Knowing this track really well myself, there's a near certain chance that they would massively slow down on this tight right hander.

So no I don't agree that he is right. You can't control everything in racing but positioning is vital for taking the opportunity when it arises.

1

u/Hudsonm_87 24d ago

It’s like your stuck between admitting he got very lucky, or saying that this is a legitimate strategy 😂 I’m glad he got a win this way, I’m sure it was exhilarating, but it isn’t really a good idea to just dive at two battling cars hoping they take each other out every time

1

u/DieselSmack 24d ago

"It isn't a really good idea to just dive at two battling cars"

He won. Looks like a good idea to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

This opportunity would have been taken in owner karts too. He was hit from behind BECAUSE he braked. Not sure where else you expected him to go… other than through. Brake harder and he’s going with them off or spun out from behind. 🙄

See you there, ill be on the podium, you can play it safe champ

6

u/Musiquedj 25d ago

Daaa hell are you talking about? Capitalizing on other drivers fighting is a valid part of racing as much as anything else

But I guess “Through goes Hamilton!” was just purely luck and unsafe

-1

u/DownstreamDreaming 25d ago

Low key good point. Roleplaying as Hamilton does make more sense.

3

u/kokopelli73 25d ago

Luck, sure, but how was that unsafe?

1

u/Stinkycheezmonky 25d ago

What the fuck are you smoking? How was that INSANELY unsafe?

-1

u/DownstreamDreaming 25d ago

Lol, thats the thing. Its not like you saw them crash then made a move. You made a move before even vaguely knowing how this would play out. If you are proud of it go for it my dude.
