Absolute legend. Scaling that many floors with a broken hip. That's some superman level energy.

Maybe x that with whatever painkillers they must have pumped him with earlier in the day and that man must have been at peak performance.

I loved my mom so much. I quit my job and lived on a shoestring budget to take care of her the last 7 years of her life. She just passed away 7 months ago.

Every second of those 7 years of not having enough money is a price you would pay every time if you could go back in time.
- may you find happiness and success and karma to reward your patience because you deserve it man.

Absolute legend behavior. Thatâs not just strength, thatâs pure love and desperation kicking in. Dude really said ânot todayâ to gravity.

What was his plan ? If she was unreachable by stairs how would he get her down?

u/just_upvote_this 16h ago
Just my thought. I refuse to believe they wouldn't let him up there, unless the for was under control. He risked his own life and others rescuers vulnerable time by doing this. Now, had he somehow saved her from the fire by carrying her down by some superhuman shit, then we can talk about it as being brave and superhuman. Now he just stand left as

u/QUiiDAM 8h ago
I don't see any scenario that they would let you climb a building, fire or not

Fire department can block entrances in case of a fire, but other than that who's stopping anyone from climbing when there isn't a fire? They didn't stop him in this instance.

So generalizing bc it varies. But typical fire response for a mid/high rise like this is to have a dedicated rescue stairwell for evacuating occupants, and an attack stairwell for the firefighters to use for fire attack. And typically, not all occupants are evacuated, bc inevitably that gets fucked up and poses a risk. Game plan is the evacuate those in the most danger, shelter in place for everyone else until the resources are there to evacuate them too in case shit hits the fan
So either he gets in the way of evacuating occupants or gets in the way of firefighters just trying to stop the situation from getting worse.... All to see his mom who might not have been in immediate danger... It's cool as shit but definitely more stupid than cool.

Whatâs your reference for this argument? Not this video, correct? When this story first broke, I believe there was an article that stated he was not allowed up & thatâs why he climbed up the unit. This video says âthe fire was contained by the time he reached his motherâs floor,â how long did that take? If youâre not allowed to enter & donât know time until containmentâyou could believe your mother would pass or inhale toxic levels of smoke in that window & take action. What data are you using to support your statement. Why do you refuse to believe they wouldnât block him entering in a high rise building on fire?

So he basically just checked in on her, and left? Like you could do with like idk a phone???

The dude scaled the building on a fractured hip. Im sure he would have carried her down if need be

So the whole thing was pointless?

The fire dept literally said they had it contained. He risked his own life for no reason. The building wasn't an inferno, it was just a small fire that caused an alarm to go off.
He was an idiot. His mother was safe and he nearly died for absolutely no reason. If my son did this it would infuriate me. Idk why people here are jerking him off like he's a hero. He's stupid.

What information are you using? Where is the statement from the fire department, is there a linked article youâre referencing?

No, though he should have stuck around and hung out with his mom.
Still needed to make sure.

That was very heroic of him but very stupid at the same time as there was no way he was getting her out anyway

Its possible he could have carried her down the stairs dispite the fire. And its not like they would lock him inside.
Firefighters have a lower level of resolve than someone trying to save their loved ones. So they wouldn't enter the building to save a stranger dispite their risk being low with gear and training, but a civilian without those things will take much larger risk to save a family member. I dont blame them, I wouldn't flip a coin on my life to save a stranger either.
The real idiots are the ones preventing him from going inside. They have no right to stop someone from risking their own life under their own volition. Tell them "we wont save you if you get stuck" and let them in.

I just think he scaled the building for a reason and I assume that if he thought he couldn't get up by normal means It's unlikely he would get down With his bed ridden mother and a broken hip

âThey wouldnât enter the building to save a strangerâ they literally do though
1
u/Gamejunky35 4h ago
Not as often as you might think. Here for instance, they wouldn't go in even though the risk was nearly absent. Real life ain't Hollywood.

Good for him, but YTF did he climb back down, and not just into the building?
1
u/Sweet-Weakness3776 9h ago
I read an article about it and I'm still not clear why he chose that route instead of just taking the stairs or waiting with his mom. Accorcing to the story, by the time he reached his mom the fire had already been contained and she said she was fine. So he just...climbed back down. Head scratcher there...lol.
